Career Ch Ch Ch Ch Chipp-en-ham! COMPLETED

Recommended Posts

· Posted (edited)

Two career posts in one day, I am really spoiling you guys today.

Picking up this recent one season challenge from @Foxy

I must say that the lowers league of the English football pyramid is not something I am very familiar with. Only a few saves I have ever played have been down in the depths of the grass roots heartbeat of the English game but I am always up for a challenge. With two clubs I know nothing about I decided to chose Chippenham, as I drove past it once (fun fact).

Pride and Passion! We need a lot more than that looking at the squad!

Season One - August to November

Vanarama National League South

With no transfers allowed we were straight into the league season. With two defeats in the first three games I was a little worried but soon the lads settled down into my favoured 4-1-2-3/4-3-3 system. Goals galore here as we average 2.3 goals per game. We also conceding a lot which may be a trend for the coming season, sitting top though I will take that. Keeping the players fit here is going to be challenge, we have 42 league games to get through plus cup ties also.

F.A Cup

The best cup competition in the world and we start way down, looks a long road to even make the First Round proper but we demolish Weymouth then a late rally against my league rivals Woking sets up a First Round tie against League Two, Crewe. We put up a good fight but lose out in a five goal thriller. Still a good couple of wins to boost the final score.

we don’t like Chippenham, we prefer Eggs & Ham

do love a good non-league save

A few nice cup bonus point there I see, this is shaping up to be a good attempt.

Its going good so far, tricky managing the squad and I am forced to play with some unfit players but that's non-league for you!

Part Two December - February

So after a cracking start to the league and decent cup run in the F.A Cup, I was looking to build on this but knew it would be tricky over the Christmas period with so many games and no chance to add to the squad.

Vanarama National League South

With 20 games we still sitting pretty at the top of the league, holding a nice 10 point lead. we have tightened up the defence a little but still kept the scoring going too.

Screenshot_2019-01-02-10-37-26.thumb.png.d9adc2a46c2e3961f68c4d124f5c6974.png

We end the league update here in February and we are in full control of the league now. 30 games in and 21 points clear, amazing! Still just two defeats also. Could our name be on the league trophy?

Screenshot_2019-01-02-12-14-01.thumb.png.79735e2f7ea8675215021edb4d701463.png

F.A Trophy

Buildbase_FA_Trophy.png.676808e1b9d63bdfe3ffeb316e22a39d.png

So we enter the non-league "F.A Cup" at the Third Qualifying round and soon dispatch Basildon. Onto Aldershot who are taught a lesson in finishing! That game could have gone very differently. With the games coming round quick we are into the Second Round and again run riot as we put five past Boston, could this be our year?

Team News...

My 41 years BWM is no more! Sad times for the club 😪

That's a wrap for this update, with one more final update coming can we do the unthinkable and grab a league and cup double?

Shame your BWM retired mid season 🙁 keep it up mate 😁

Thanks, yeah my boys are doing considering well as we have play some games with players below 90% fitness as one and two injuries and it hits us hard.

I know, all the lads were devastated! 😪

Here is the final part of the one season wonder...

Vanarama National League South

download.jpg.dedfaeb613efd1474cce9efa8edf4779.jpg

Heading into the final twelve games and we had just one thing on the agenda, the title!
We secured it with ease. 100 points and goals as we romp home. What a stunning season! 🏆

Screenshot_2019-01-02-15-40-03.thumb.png.98d5e5fc5f9ce199ae540f5c53d2eea2.png

F.A Trophy

Buildbase_FA_Trophy.png.676808e1b9d63bdfe3ffeb316e22a39d.png

So we head into Round Three and take on Barrow and promptly throw away a two goal lead that forces a reply, we then go two nil down but things change around with a red card and we claim an unlikely 3-2 to keep the dream alive.

We crush Sutton in the Fourth Round and suddenly its the Semi Final!

Screenshot_2019-01-02-13-24-48.thumb.png.b44207f1f0158e861846b543d19096e7.png

Another convincing win in the first leg against Chester then another four goals in the second leg and Chippenham are on their way to Wembley!!!!

The Final

What another roller coaster of a game, two down in 18 mins but we battle back to 2-2 at half time and then claim a famous win 4-3! What a cup run and what a way to do the double! 🏆🏆

What a great season with Chippenham! I really wasn't sure how this was going to go with my lack of lower league experience but we did fantastic and we made £7k profit too!

Challenge Points

(Points will be League points + Goal difference + 3 points for every cup round completed)

106 + 62 + FA Cup (6) + F.A Trophy (18) = 192 Hope that is right @Foxy?

I did start up a save with the other team but it unfortunately didn't hook me at all lol.

I guess if I was struggling it might have gone the same way but we had such a good start I felt I need to finish the season off.

Always the best saves lol.

I'm just save jumping atm and trying to find something that sticks, I'm just hoping I'll fall into an accidental save at some point lol.

Yeah, it can bit tricky. I've had a triple threat going for a for weeks but cant seem to quite get into it although its going well.

Have a shorter one I will post soon as I am nearly done, now I seem to have a stable/adaptable tactic.

Wiltshire’s number 1!!!

Great score that and will take some beating.

Thanks @Foxy

Can I also get added to the The Neil Warnock Promotion Challenge leaderboard?
Does my promotion with Middlesbrough in the OME Cup also count too for this?
