Career Triple Threat, the Mike Ashley way. (Season 3)

Intro

So I began a triple threat in France with Marseille, but it was a little boring if I am honest so I pushed for more difficulty.

Due to the tranfer window currently beig open I looked to an awful place for inspiration.

Mike Ashley

Newcastle Uniteds own Mr Scrooge.

He just rarely spends big on players and not at all if he can help it. So that is my inspiration for this toon career.

Challenge

My career will follow all of the usual triple threat rules but has some additional rules.

1. The three players must already be at the club. No big signings.
2. No signings. All players are to be at the club already or promoted from the academy.
3. Any offers over £10million for a player who is not one of the three strikers has to be accepted.

The Players

We know already that I am off back home to the north east for this challenge, but which 3 NUFC youngsters will I choose as my strike force?

Elias Sørensen

Newcastle's promising youngster has been smashing it this year and hopefully he can continue in that vein.

Juanito

Seemingly forgotten about this young Spaniard is dying for an opportunity. He is getting it.

Kelland Watts

Beginning as a Striker before shifting to centre back. This youngster now calls himself a box-to-box midfielder. I am putting him back up front though.

 

I hope you like my choices guys and the career will begin to be posted soon.

Season 1

Our challenge begins. Can the young lads make a good start?

League

With the bog standard Newcastle United lets see how we got on in the league.

A fifth placed finish in amongst the big hitters of the division, and Arsenal.

Carabao Cup

We made it to the quarter finals.

That late Diamé own goal.... damn

FA cup

Fifth round faced cardiff again.

No own goals this time, good result.

The Boys

Sorensen

He has made some decent improvement. Lets see how it affected his score

21 goals, not a bad haul for year 1 and his skill level

Juanito

Already looking like a half decent striker, is he though?

23 goals, another good start for our man.

Watts

He is still essentially a CB. Or more like a Vanarama level Libero. Can he score like a striker though?

No. Just...no. Eleven goals is poor.he really needs to pull his weight in the future.

Good luck! In theory with some money spent on the training facilities Newcastle could have an amazing youth system.

Literally the first thing I did too. Youth facilities as high as the board would allow.

I have one idea though. You shouldn't upgrade the facilities at all as FatAsh wont irl! The training ground is awful and not upto standard so i recon thats how you have to play it too....Ben Dawson is coping well enough 😆

I think Newcastle’s got everything there to be a powerhouse, got the stadium, got the fans. Don’t even need a Man City or Chelsea style takeover, just need someone to come in and put the club first with a bit of money. 

Anyway I like the idea of this challenge cos it’s just proper cashley bleed the club dry in every department style.

Keep it up mate.

Taking this under consideration i have decided not to upgrade either facility any futher. So the training facilities will remain "good" and youth "superb"

Season 2

Season 1 was an ok start but I really need the lads to improve their stats and fast.

League

The team are growing up, what doea that mean for our league campaign?

The same points tally but one place lower. I won't complain though as this is a tough league and a weak team.

Cups

Carabao Cup

For some reason i missed the screenshot of this but having just checked my managerial history, we were knocked out in the 4th round.

FA cup

In a great (and fortuitous) run we went to the final to face Liverpool

And win the cup. Another own goal in a cup game.

Europa League

A new competition for us to try our hand at and we do very well, the final at first asking.

But Leverkusen take it in extra time.

The Boys

Not a lot of visible improvement. What about goals?

Not a lot better considering the plethora of extra games he played.

Juanito

This boy is a striker. Its just plain to see in those attributes. Does he score like one?

33 goals, better from our boy. Hooefully this is onward and upward as he did miss a lot of games through injury.

Watts

Wor Kel. Still a striker trapped in a Defenders body bless him. Did the striker inside come out?

It did! 24 goals, more than doubling year 1 goals. 24 well done that boy.

Man United smash us in the semis. Decent run though.

Yet again we finish 7th. It seems to be the position for this team.

But the results are only slightly

And scoring decently too.

Again already looking better than previously.

And scoring well with 28 goals.

A fantastic match but a loss. Not sure who Granit Xhaka Charles-Cook is though.....

We did pretty well but came unstuck against liverpool. Unlucky.

A very god 4th place and Champions league for the guys next year.

He smashed it this year though with 32 goals

He is a striker. Simple as that.

Season 3

The first two seasons showed real promise. We want that to continue in year 3

We finally win something. Mostly thanks to Muto being in for an injured striker.

We were destroyed despite a good FA cup run

Champions league

Barcelona saw us off in the semis due to away goals. Good run though.

League

Fantastic, only missing out on the title due to goal difference.

30 goals is decent again. Happy with that.

A couple of physical improvements.

Arsenal eliminating the defending Champions in the third round. Cack.

Decent game but Tammy Abraham ruined us. Double cack.

Champions league

A cack-trick is avoided as we did bloody well in the champions league. Until Barca smashed us in the final.

League

Another second place. We are doomed not to win this league.

Sorensen
