Team B took a 2 point lead over Team A yesterday but with Team A having an extra game this month it could all turn round.

Team A vs Bologna Away

If Team A are going to overtake Team B they will need to do a damned sight better than this.

A thunderous tap in from @samhardy O’Shea had given them the lead but it all turned round early in the 2nd half as first Donsah scored and then @Woody Skriniar forgot which way we were playing as he bundled the ball into his own net. Despite plenty of shots on goal Team A simply didn’t get enough on target and they ultimately fell to defeat.

This was a poor performance from the A Team and I suspect foul play as Foxy Gonzalez was suspended meaning @Ashez Ginter had to play 😛

 

Team B vs AC Milan Away

That loss gave Team B the chance to not only stretch there lead over Team A but also claim local bragging rights by beating AC Milan.

The Greek goal getting god @sharaziuk Manolas banged one in just after the half hour mark and that seemed to have set up a tight win but Cutrone had other ideas. Two goals in 10 minutes turned the game on its head and inflicted back to back defeats on the club.

That’s two defeats and two poor performances in a row now despite the efforts of Manolas, @Sonneratia Dier and @Gideon_J Stones.

 

Team A vs Atletico Home

As we have a good goal difference advantage over PSV we should be ok for at least 2nd place in the group but we need to get back to winning ways and quickly.

This was a good performance and a battling one as well as once Godin equalised it we could have crumbled. @samhardy O’Shea got his 2nd goal in as many games to open the scoring and then it was @Rob Upamecano who got the winner with 9 minutes to go. We shut up shop and won the game and the group.

@Woody Skriniar made amends for his OG in his last game with 12 interceptions in this one and @Nucleus Van Dijk was a busy boy as well with 8 interceptions and 4 tackles.

This won us the group and set up a tie with Benfica in the last 16 in the new year.

Team B vs Atalanta Away

Team B have been blowing these kinds of teams away most of the season with there firepower up front so this is a good game to get back to winning ways in the league.

Team B were surprisingly wasteful for them in this match as they created a good number of shots but struggled to get them on target. Cometh the hour, Cometh the man though and it was @DutchTony Koulibaly who smashed home a winner 2 minutes from time to get us back on track in the league.

A lot of players are struggling for form this month with a lot of 6’s and 7’s on show. As a DLP though a 7 is good and @Ashez Ginter earned his 7 with a couple of tackles and 4 interceptions. It was a good defensive performance all round in fact with @CamelXCVII Lemos and @Sonneratia Dier looking solid as did @URz Maguire and @Lapalapalup Lindelof on the flanks.

 

Team A vs Sampdoria Home

Now the league campaign is cooking again.

Two wins in a row and we really are 2 teams that are all or nothing as we simple don’t do draws. This match was the @1759 Ramos show as he bagged himself a hat-trick with 2 early goals and then a 2nd half penalty.

Obviously this match was the Ramos show but we also saw good games from @Titjes Kehrer, Upamecano and the Team A interception king @Woody Skriniar.

 

Team B vs Udinese Away

We have seen Team B hand out a couple of hammerings in the first half of the season so this may come as a shock.

This must be one of the worst performances we have seen so far in this save as Vizeu grabbed 4 goals and 3 points of Udinese. It started so well as @smoggy90 Marquinhos gave us an early lead but it is hard to argue with the result as Udinese really dominated the game and created plenty of chances.

This was a day to forget for the Team B defence with only @Sonneratia Dier coming out with any credit but better performances up front with both Marquinhos and @Gideon_J Stones getting 8’s.

 

Team A vs Lazio Home

A win for the A team could give them a lead over Team B for the first time in this save going into the winter break.

Goals have been a major problem for Team A although they are strong at the back. This game was a real turn round in fortunes up front though as they ran out 5-0 winners. @1759 Ramos got a 2nd hat-trick in as many games and then @Titjes Kehrer got another goal as did @Rob Upamecano.

This was an excellent way to go into the winter break with strong performances all round. I have to point out Foxy Gonzalez’s 5 tackles won, 12 interceptions and an assist in this game.

 

At one point we were 10 points behind Juventus but we managed to cut that to 5 with the Lazio win. We are losing too many games though and it’s hard at this point to see us challenging for the league but a top 4 finish is very much on the cards. It would be nice if we could turn some of the losses into draws at least in the 2nd half of the season.

This was a tricky month for Team B but they do have there game in hand in January so they may be able to close the gap. This is the first time Team A have lead and it is quite a turn round to be 4 points clear.

There is little change in the names on the board but it have seen a drop in AvR for a few players this month.

I was fearing the worst when Ramos got a rating of 4 in the first game but he came good with 2 hat tricks. I understand that 2 were pens but Ramos does have the best shooting stat 😀

Just a recap on the league table and the points between Team A and Team B

 

The next update will be the 3 games in January and will include our first tie in the Coppa Italia. Team B have an extra game this month so they can potentially close the gap over Team A.

 

I just want to thank everyone who has got involved so far with this and I hope you continue to enjoy the updates for the rest of the season.

I really hope I can reward you all by winning a trophy and finishing as high as we can in the league although actually winning Série A is going to be too big an ask I think.

Funnily enough Koulibaly and Manolas are 2 of my top 3 favourite defenders in the game.

We head back into game action today and start with a tie in the Coppa Italia which I’m hoping we can do well in and perhaps win ourselves a trophy.

Team B vs Torino Home

This was an extremely hard fought victory for Team B as the tie went to extra time.  We got lucky when Belotti missed a spot kick but he then made amends 4 minutes later. We got a deserved equaliser when Izzo put past his own GK and then deep into extra time @Lapalapalup Lindelof fired home a winner to set up a tie away at Fiorentina in the quarter finals at the end of the month.

The dream team up front had a poor game today but behind them @Gideon_J Stones had a good game as did @URz Maguire and of course Lindelof.

 

Team A vs Parma Home

We headed back into league action and after @1759 Ramos had given us the lead we looked on course for the win.

The game turned on its head 7 minutes from time when Foxy Gonzalez dived into a tackle and received his marching orders. This left the lads to battle with only 10 men and just before the end the pressure told when Parma got an equaliser.

A distraught Foxy Gonzalez issued the following statement via his agent Mental Micky.

 

In truth Team A didn’t deserve much from this game but the win was there for the taking and it’s clear my sending off made a big difference.

 

Team B vs SPAL Away

Dropped point for Team A is music to Team B’s ears and they took full advantage by putting SPAL to the sword for the 2nd time this season.

He had been quiet for a couple of games but @DutchTony Koulibaly came back into form with a hat-trick which was completed by half time. In the 2nd half @Gideon_J Stones made it 4 and then the scoring was completed when @Ashez Ginter fired home his first goal of the season with a screamer from the edge of the box.

A MotM performance from Koulibaly and excellent performances from @Damilare Luiz, Ginter and Lindelof.

 

Team A vs Fiorentina Away

There was only 3 scheduled matches in January but the Coppa Italia quarter finals just squeezed in so Team A have another game this month.

Florence was going to be a tricky trip but we got the result. @Rob Upamecano gave us the lead but we got pegged back before @1759 Ramos got his 13th goal of the season, one less than @DutchTony Koulibaly. This was a professional performance and set up a tie with Juventus in the semi finals.

Lots of good performances from the usual suspects up front as well as @Nucleus Van Dijk, @Titjes Kehrer and @Woody Skriniar at the back.

Despite the Parma drama we move up to 3rd in the table and we keep ourselves in with a chance at the title.

Team A still have a lead but it has been reduced to only 2 points and Team B still have a game in hand.

The same names show up for Team A but we see some movement in Team B as @Lapalapalup Lindelof takes over as best defender and @Gideon_J Stones as best midfielder. @DutchTony Koulibaly stays as best overall player.
