Help Player on loan not improving attributes

Hi Vibe wonder if you guys have seen this and know a way around it?

I've got a player on loan at my club and he's improving after each match, but his stats don't go up at all, there's no arrows or anything, and he's definitely progressed a couple of times.

 

Is this a bug? Or do players who are in loan not show attribute improvements?

They do improve when they "level up" but it doesn't indicate it with the arrows
