Chat Older players

What I would like to see in FM 20 is older players attributes not go down as much. IE Alan Shearer was a great player so his finishing even at a high age was brilliant. You wouldn't see him ever faulter yet his shooting would go down on FM. Same with Messi, even when he's 40 his dribbling skills will be still very up at the top, with his finishing and technique. Doesn't matter how old you are, if you have the skill and finishing why should the attributes go down for these certain skills, when clearly IRL there still mint

I agree with this but stats such as pace, stamina, and strength should decrease and also older players should be a bit more injury prone

Absolutely guys, again strength could go either way. When you have a Drogba or lakaku I can't see them never winning a header challenge or a goal opportunity. Hopefully it's looked into

I do think this is a problem with hidden attributes. I’ve had some older players who did a great job, but looking at their visible attributes they look like garbage.  Unfortunately it’s hard to tell which players might be better than first appearances suggest (though I completely understand why they are hidden).

I agree with this but I would also like to add that so many high profile names retire young e.g. at the age of 32. It's ridiculous.

I agree with this. I’ve noticed that if you have a player who’s about 31 or 32 and his contract is going to run out then he usually just retires. I think if you want to keep someone until they’re about 35 then maybe you need to offer them I long deal when they are about 29.

It may just be me and not true at all but I think that the stats don’t seem to decrease as much if they are still playing a lot of matches. Will have to investigate at some point.

Yes that does seem to be the case. It's frustrating however when you want to sign these players but because the AI hasn't offered them a new contract, they won't negotiate with you because they've decided to retire.

This also seems to be correct. Again, hugely frustrating when these players are playing for AI clubs. The AI should either play them or sell them. I often see Barcelona leaving Messi to waste away in the first team squad but not being selected for games.
