Well done @samhardy, beating me was never in doubt but great score too. I made the mistake of going with Red Bull and I have no doubt I could’ve got a slightly better score if I’d have gone with Bayern but don’t think it would’ve been enough to get near most others here.

Well done everyone and especially the winners. Thanks to @Foxyfor putting my new DP into the graphic as it looks a lot better than my old one.😁

Not much point putting mine up but anyway here goes. I would usually always use either DLP or an AP and probably both but had a strange idea here to not use any playmakers and it didn’t work. Live and learn that’s what I say!😀

Week 3 - Challenge

China's Portuguese Takeover

In recent years China have attempted to take over the world of football and have faced a lot of criticism for it. Aside from the obscene amount of money they've spent, one of the major criticisms they've faced is their lack of investment in their own Chinese players and how few and far between a talented player comes through their system. Instead it's far more common over their to splash £50M on someone who's scored a few goals in the Premier League.

China have called upon other nations for assistance in developing their players though. Once upon a time the Chinese government sent 21 "talented" players over to Brazil for a 5 year spell in order for them to learn their trade over there and come back better players. Even these days leading Chinese clubs send players over to Brazil for training camps and match experience.

More recently than that, due to a clause in a Chinese sponsorship deal of the Portuguese second tier, a major influx of Chinese players nearly descended on Portugal, but the proposal was withdrawn over concerns from the Portuguese players' union.

Despite it falling through, there were still more Chinese players playing in the Portuguese second tier than Germans playing in the English Premier League just a couple of seasons ago.

The Challenge

I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this challenge.

You will be taking this near-takeover and making it a reality, even taking it a step further. You can choose any club in the second tier of Portugal, and you will only be allowed to buy and play Chinese players under the age of 22 throughout the challenge.

There's one exception to this. You can have one wildcard player, who must have leadership of 15 or above. This isn't compulsory but there's points available for it. He can't play any higher up the pitch than ML/R/C.

That's really all there is to it. A full squad of young Chinese players, with one wildcard who can be any nationality and age but must have leadership of 15 or above.

A brief look through the players available suggests that this will be a very tough challenge and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few people get the boot this week

Points System (Full Season)

League Points + Goal Difference

5 points for every cup round passed

5 points for every man of the match performance from the wildcard (league only)

-5 points for every match lost by more than one goal (league only)

Clarifications

• Any team in the Portuguese second tier.
• This is a full season challenge.
• You can only buy and play Chinese players between the age of 0-21.
• Your wildcard must have 15+ leadership. He can be any age or nationality.
• Your wildcard can not play any higher up the pitch than ML/MR/MC. AMC or AML/R is not allowed.
• You can sell players and loans are allowed.
• No coaching badges

Would love it if anyone had any tips on what leagues to load?

Portugal + China + Korea + Spain gave 11 players that fit the criteria, so don't do that

Make sure you load both leagues in China

When I was testing to see if everything was suitable for the challenge I just loaded top 2 divisions in China and Portugal and had 47 pages of players available.

I take it you can’t buy players who are 21 as they’ll turn 22 during the season?

You can buy them and play them but the second they turn 22 they can play no further part.
