Career H2H: BVB Edition

One club. Two people. Five seasons. Plenty of points to play for. 

Hello, and welcome to a H2H challenge between me and @kylieboi88! Playing as Borussia Dortmund, we will attempt to gather as many points as we can over five seasons in our attempts to win the challenge. Points can be won in the various ways listed below

20 POINTS: Win the Bundesliga

10 POINTS EACH: Win the German Cup, win the Champions League, win the Europa League. 

5 POINTS EACH: Win the German Super Cup, win the European Super Cup, win the Club World Cup, player with the better league goal difference, player with the highest goalscorer (all competitions), player with the highest assist maker (all competitions). 

So, in one season it is possible to score a maximum of 70 points (55 in Season One).

The only restrictions are the usual, no use of the editor, no reloading to avoid injury/replay games, own tactics only etc. 

I will post my Season One update soon (later tonight hopefully), and then @kylieboi88 will post his, and the points will be calculated after that. After five seasons are completed, we can add up the points and declare a winner!

Season One Update - Aaron55

Transfers

Over the summer and winter transfer windows there was quite a few changes to the team, with players including Reus, Wolf and Pulisic leaving, and the likes of Felix, Under and Ziyech replacing them. 

German Cup

Over before it really truly began, our German Cup dreams ended with a first round penalty shootout defeat to Bundesliga 2 opposition. 

Champions League

After topping our group, we navigated our way past Barcelona, Lyon and Lokomotiv Moscow on the way to facing Benfica in the final, where a goal and assist from a player I sold in the summer proved decisive. Absolutely heartbreaking 😢

Bundesliga

The league campaign could probably be summed up by games like this. 

In the end, we dropped too many points and could only finish a distant second, with a goal difference of +29.

Overall, quite a disappointing season, with a possibility I could end up like the United Kingdom at Eurovision.

Unless my players individual performances prove good enough to earn me a few points to at least avoid this!

Season One - Kylieboi

Transfers In and Outs (full season)

I started out with the mind set of only a few deals as I was happy with the squad overall, but me being me I went against that and signed for the future. Gotze, kagawa and toprak wasnt part of my plans and I was happy to sell sell for tidy sums.

Eder has been my favourite defender on this game, hes expensive but at 20 yrs old hes part of the future. Hysaj is a talent at rb and I retrained him to be a wingback for my formation. 

Sturaro is another favourite of mine and I have used him on previous games. 

Marin, Morilla, Ermacora are all wonderkids so they will feature sparingly while they develop. 

My only disappointment was my GK spot, after much searching I stuck with my current number 1 for this season.

Surprising to see my left wingback being the one with the most assists lol.

Cup Run

We smashed the German Cup romping to a 4-0 Win. 😋

Champions Cup Final resulted in another 4-1 romping!

Overall Finish

We won the league with a smaller amount of goals scored compared to @Aaron55 disappointingly no awards 🤔

Won the league comfortably in the end only disappointment is we didnt score more goals.

Season Two Update - Aaron55

Transfers

After an ultimately disappointing season, it was time to freshen the team up, and six first team players left to make room for seven new signings, including players from Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool. 

 

German Cup

Despite coming within seconds of exiting the competition in the third round, we made our way to the final via a penalty shootout victory over Hannover. Borussia Monchengladbach were all that stood between us and the German Cup...

A close game that unfortunately didn't go our way. 

Champions League

We easily won our group, before coming through ties against Lyon, Juventus and Liverpool. 

Roma would be the opponents in the final, as we attempted to go one better than last season, and actually lift the trophy...

YES!!! A late red card didn't matter as we comfortably won the game by four goals!

Bundesliga

Having finished in second last season, ten points off of champions Bayern Munich, we would need to avoid dropping as many points this time round. We missed out on the three points 15 times last season, with nine draws and six defeats. This time we failed to pick up maximum points on ten occasions, including the last game of the season, where a last minute penalty rescued a point. 

That successful penalty was worth much more than just a point though...

We won the league, and improved our goal difference from last season, finishing with +51 which will hopefully be enough to take the points.

Season 2 Update - Kylieboi

Transfers Ins & Outs

I started Season 2 happy overall with my squad but after a strong start my arse was twitching with what @Aaron55 had up his sleeve!

Heres season 2 transfer business.

I brought in Bailey to add talent and depth to the squad he cost a packet but he is always worth having in your team. 

Belotti was transfer listed and I fancied a punt on him. He repaid my faith.

Zabiolo is mustard when he matures as is Bellanova - who I sent out on loan for the season.

Pulisic was a decent transfer as I used the money to fund Bailey. Passlack I sold in jan to try and sign a cb who ditched me for Liverpool 😢...

Cups Review

By no ways a good start to the season... losing on pens to my enemy!

We won the Champions cup for second season running beating Chelsea easily 3-1.

We won the Club World Championships beating Saitama Utd who failed to turn up on the night.

Lazio were defeated easily losing 2-0 to us without any defence.

We got some payback beating enemy number 1 easily! Look at them shots on target!

4/5 Cups won in Season 2.

End Of Season

We won the league even though we trailed throughout the season up until Jan.

 

Disappointing that we failed to score more my aim was 80 goals for the season.

I put this down to me being inconsistant with my main strikers. Bellotti and Philipp annoyed me at times as they didnt seem prolific as often as I wanted. This resulted in me chopping and changing throughout the season....although they did both score over 50 goals between them. Lesson learned.

Season Three Update - Aaron55

Transfers 

The summer transfer window was a busy one, with plenty of players departing and subsequently being replaced. Some transfers were also made in January but I forgot to get a screenshot. 

German Super Cup 

We won this, however I have no screenshot from the game. I do have a screenshot showing we won, which I'll place in a spoiler as it shows results of other trophies.

European Super Cup

A routine win over FC Porto as we win the European Super Cup! 

German Cup 

A trophy that eluded us in the first two seasons...would elude us again. After a comfortable victory against Bundesliga 2 opposition, we lost in extra time in the second round. 

Maybe next time! 

Club World Cup

Dominating both games proved to not be enough to win us the trophy, as we lost by a goal against the run of play in the final. 

Champions League

We easily qualified from our group again. On the subject of easy, we probably couldn't have hoped for an easier run to the final, as we defeated Villareal, Stuttgart and Sevilla on the way to the final. 

Carrying on the theme of easy, we avoided Juventus in the final, instead in a repeat of the European Super Cup, we would face FC Porto. Could we do the double over them and secure our second Champions League trophy in three seasons?

Yes! Another 2-0 win over them saw us claim the trophy! 

Bundesliga

Invincibles last season, we would be aiming to repeat that achievement. However, defeat to Wolfsburg towards the end of the season destroyed those dreams. We still did enough to easily win the league though! We finished with the same goal difference as last season, +51, so hopefully that'll be enough to claim the points again.

Yep, it's the same guy! In a season where the goals were shared around a lot, he just outscored three other players. Probably won't be nearly enough to claim the points here. 

A decent enough season, but I really need to be winning everything to try and catch up a bit with @kylieboi88. Over to you now Kyle, how did you get on?

Season 3 Update - Kylieboi

Transfers In and Out

As I lost out on Skriniar last season to Liverpool it was only right after beating them in the Champs league to go back and bid for my future captain. Decent fee considering as he went to Liverpool the season before for around £70m.

Tonali was a deal I agreed last season and I loaned him out to gain experience. He is my successor to Delaney/Weigl as both may well be sold at the end of the season. 

My wonderkid would not sign a new contract so I decided to cash in and he went for £40m, Schurrle returned from his 2 year loan to be sold before he got into the carpark.

Tojan and Burnic I also sold as I was in a bidding war with PSG for Savic - which I lost 😂

Alot of my previous transfers have enabled me to do minimal business in prep for season 3.

@Aaron55 is forming a solid side which is giving me nightmares tbf 👊

Cup Overview

I seem to have a problem with the Supercup as I again lost to Bayern 'The Enemy' which saw us drop points in the H2H.

However there was success to come once we got into our stride.

We smashed Arsenal to win the Euro Super Cup. The main man Belotti beginning to repay his debt to the club.

Okayama who? As we romped to a 5-0 win. Belotti getting himself 4.

German Cup was in the bag again with a comfortable 2-0 win, the Captain stepping up to get on the score sheet.

Our road in Europe came to a crashing end losing both legs to a solid Inter squad who were deadly in the first half of leg one!

League Overview

We won the league in the best way possible going unbeaten all season had it not been for the 2 draws it would of been a clean sweep.

Massively proud to smash 85 goals for this season after stating I wanted 80 last year - with a goal difference of 70!
