Great read @Foxy love the scenic route here!

Cheers mate, ultimately the scenic route might cost us getting home within the 80 games but it’s a hell of a lot more fun to play and hopefully follow.

I was enjoying this until you won the league with Arsenal 😠

Sorry 😉

Those Caribbean boys actually look half decent, certainly a lot better than I’d have thought anyway. I can relate to the ten day injury thing as whenever I get that now I think “Well that’s him out for about 3 weeks”.

The “10 day” injuries are so frustrating!!!

Loved the read through dude...especially the fact you used Romario 👍brilliant.

When I saw a Romario I knew I had to go for him. I think you might like the name of my first player in the next update as well.

This is the final update of the first season so once we get to the end of this we will be 38 games into our journey. We have already won the league so we have our first souvenir of our trip in our suitcase and we could add the FA Cup and Europa League today.

The last update left us on a beach enjoying a cocktail and trying to decide our next destination. I decided we would head to South America.

Colombia 🇨🇴

I had a lot of good Colombian to choose from but one player caught my attention due to his last name.

F4634B5D-E8E7-43B5-A856-7CF4BE817CFA.thumb.png.9d9ff149d31bf7b2d573e8d2c23e0725.png

I used a Romario in the last update so how could I turn down the chance to use an Asprilla. I had a little look online but it seems there is no relation to his more famous and far better namesake.

He joined for £3.6m and I took quite a hit as I only managed to get £1.9m for him when he left.

We had a Europa League match to play first and it didn’t go well as we lost 2-0 to Chelsea.

The Fulham game was Asprillas first chance to shine and he didn’t disappoint.

After the long saga of games in Jamaica it was great to get through Colombia at break neck speed as Aouar got an assist.

That means we could move on and our next destination which was...

Peru 🇵🇪

We could have gone to Brazil but Peru seems a much more interesting way to go to me.

The next player was picked simply because I have never heard of him and I really like his attributes.

DF4D71E0-C5BD-437C-8F16-304EE37424B4.thumb.png.8246796519db5850c2bcaffac83fe2ae.png

He set me back £5.5m from Vancouver and I had hope he would get the job done quickly and we could squeeze in one more destination before the season ends.

That wasn’t quite the case and after 3 matches we were still in the homeland of Paddington Bear.

We had also been unable to get back into the tie with Chelsea and that ended our European hopes this season.

We had 2 matches left to try and get out of Peru before the end of the season.

First up was Everton and Reyna was quick of the mark with a 7th Minute goal.

Which was handily assisted by Aouar 😁

That means we could get in one more country before the end of the season.

Bolivia 🇧🇴

My only real knowledge of Bolivian football is the bore draw they got with world champions Germany at the 94 World Cup and that they like to play the bigger teams on the top of a mountain to give themselves the ultimate home advantage.

We delved into the MLS yet again and found ourselves Bruno Miranda for £2.6m. He doesn’t really look that great does he?

4DD857CB-715C-4D3F-B19C-8EC4703DBECF.thumb.png.208e69424eae88cd0d1ca725afdb2b89.png

He only had one game left this season to see if we could move on before the end of the season and it was against Bournemouth.

F4E6A72F-0BC4-478A-AA9E-E78A25E77B91.thumb.png.7ef691909f12219149381da8cc6abd87.png

It was a nice win to end the league season but no goal for Miranda so we will be spending the Southern Hemisphere winter in Bolivia as we prepare for next season.

We had one last game though and it was the FA Cup final against Liverpool as we looked for a league and Cup double.

We made hard work of it but got the job done in the end thanks to a penalty shoot out.

Season Round up

It wasn’t a bad year with the Premier League and FA Cup in our trophy cabinet but our early exits in the Europa and League Cup were annoying.

Nations Visted So Far

We have managed to visit 12 nations in this first season which means we have spent on average just over 3 games in each country.

We now have 42 more games left to try and get home within the 80 matches but what ever happens and however many games it takes we will make it back to London.

That brings season one to an end but as I have no transfers to do in the preseason it won’t take me long to be back with the start of season 2.

Great season!😀 I like the look of Reyna and with a bit of Aerial treatment I can see him being a decent player! Asprilla brings back memories of the 90’s and all those Geordies chanting “Tino, Tino, Tino!! I expect @Woody will be happy to see him.

We spent the off season in Bolivia and that is where we will be carrying on from.

Just a reminder that we have to stick to the squad we had last season except for our nation guides so no transfers came in during the window.

Before we start there was the chance of another souvenir of our trip as we took on Man City in the Community Shield.

We had to come from 2-0 down but got the job done on penalties.

Bolivia 🇧🇴

Just a quick recap.

We had one final game last season when our Bolivian guide started his attempt to get us across the nation.

This is our guide.

4DD857CB-715C-4D3F-B19C-8EC4703DBECF.thumb.png.208e69424eae88cd0d1ca725afdb2b89.png

Our first league match was against WBA and Miranda was obviously keen to get us out the country after having to spent all winter with us as he scored twice just to make sure.

8B7A2B29-FAAE-4AFE-8541-41B35F025AE9.thumb.png.0014c97dc9ff2a3c2e2144b7ab98457f.png

Keinan Davis got an assist and we are able to move on nice and quickly.

Paraguay 🇵🇾

We continue our journey crisscrossing South America as we head to Paraguay.

Our next guide didn’t come from an MLS club which is a bit of a shock as since we entered the Americas that seems to have been our best source of guides.

He joined from Mexican side Amèrica for £3.1m.

5E0E2D16-0E3D-4206-BA43-4ED61DF40A5D.thumb.png.7a206cbd65898e88d908fe56b42114e4.png

He look a real good player and definitely one of the better picks I have made. His first attempt was against Liverpool but despite the win he was unable to get the job done.

5968F077-9952-4ABB-A627-1ED649F46E15.thumb.jpeg.be23694a57e60229491b6ab8d01d2f20.jpeg

Next up was Huddersfield so a team I was hoping I could knock a few in against.

We only got 2 and Dominguez left it late but he got a goal....

26907C4C-3276-4119-A9B4-308FA96301B9.thumb.png.2d5b3ece16e66cf90f00ea03940ce045.png

and Davis got the assist we needed 😁

That means we have passed through 2 countries in 3 games and I was feeling very confident as we headed over the border.

Brazil 🇧🇷

We have gone “around the houses” to get here but how could we not visit Brazil during this trip.

We had a huge choice of Brazilians to go with, some amazing and some bobbins.

In the end I went with a former FM wonderkid who I used to sign a lot around FM14 time I guess maybe earlier.

Damião is 30 now and never fulfilled that potential from the early part of the decade but he still looks good. He cost us £4.3m.

He didn’t get of the mark in the first 2 games.

99C66691-5D7E-4A89-866B-56754C5F53D7.thumb.jpeg.377f5724c9a46ab00275b659e34a36b1.jpeg

He had a little break and refocused over the International matches and then came back motivated for the West Ham game.

Boom! Two goals.

EB51389C-4B8F-4ADC-9EF9-168062F1E39F.thumb.jpeg.a6abda93ef06735e037b16d735f0605e.jpeg

Two goals from Damião and two assists as both Aouar and Davis both got one.

We we are flying across South America as that is now 3 nations completed in 5 games.

Argentina 🇦🇷

We crossed over into Argentina and again had a long list of potential guides.

I had spent a fair bit on my last few picks with each one costing a few million each and although I made a profit on a few of them and I have plenty of money in the bank I decide Argentina would be a frugal pick.

With that in mind I spent £230k on this fella. The best I can say is at least he can head the ball.

CC324CBE-C3AC-497C-9C28-0E8EC9E1DF61.thumb.png.e1fdba9ae2dfd0e762c72ae7da7022ff.png

We have entered the time of the season when cup and Champions league matches start so it always looks worse when I post the number of games played.

We crashed out the League Cup to Leicester which although the cups don't matter too much in this save is still very annoying.

Maybe my frugal option wasn’t the best idea as after 4 league games we were still making our way across Patagonia. I actually did a swap with Davis moving to the AF position and Córdoba going to his more suited TM role after the 0-0 with Villa.

E11176B0-F635-4B3C-BFEF-EB30731DDFF0.thumb.jpeg.616b8122451acb4900cf4ef428839790.jpeg

An away game in Brighton seemed a perfect place to get Argentina finally crossed as Córdoba banged in 2 goals, he had only scored once before this game so I nearly fell off my chair when he got a brace.

Both goals were set up by Aouar from corners so we can move on.

That means we have visted 4 nations in 11 games and sit at the top of the table.

Another cracking update Foxy.

I recon Chile next for a bit of spice.

I think I have brought in worse players than him but not by much that’s for sure. I think these random players are the best bit of the save and when I get to a bigger footballing nation like Argentina I tend to like to look for the more obscure players unless there is an old wonderkid I can go for like in Brazil.

I have a feeling a might be someone who was born on the Falkland Islands. Maybe Ethan Gilson-Clark?

Very close with the destination and if he was in my DB it would have been what I would have done but alas he wasn’t.

We will be heading to the island of South Georgia and as it’s an British overseas territory we will follow a similar plan to Greenland.

Some of the place names on the island may be a clue to the nationality of the player.

It was tough to pick a player for both Brazil and Argentina as the more options there are the harder it is to narrow it down to one as I’m sure you know from your Squad Numbers save.

Our next destination after Argentina is well of the beaten track but I have my reasons for picking it.

South Georgia (Great Britain 🇬🇧)

South Georgia is a tiny island in the south Atlantic Ocean about 1000 km east of the Falklands. It has no permanent population but around 16 people live there in the winter and around 35 in summer most of whom are scientists.

My reason for picking this location is that it is about the nearest we could get to Antarctica as that isn’t a nation in its own right and no one has it as a nationality.

6E96D8C7-BB8F-4830-BB63-4CBEED9D42F7.thumb.png.76ecebc14b45b944513e79a98eb9185b.png

Location of South Georgia and The Sandwich Islands

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Georgia_and_the_South_Sandwich_Islands

It is a British Overseas Territory which means just as I did for Greenland were I picked a Danish player I will pick a British player as our guide. We have already ticked off England and Wales but a look at a map of the Island it reveals many of the locations have Scottish names such as Stromness and Leith so I have gone for a Scottish guide.

I spent £2.1m on Martin Boyle from Hibernian and picked him because the beard gives him a bit of a polar explorer look, well at least to me.

EA6F3ACD-0353-441C-9176-AC79CAAEA89A.thumb.png.a87bf0b1e84489052e5ab0ab9ae53830.png

We had a chance to escape the island in our first match but we were unable to do it despite a win over Leicester.

It was 2nd time lucky though despite losing a 3 goal lead to Everton. That’s what is crazy with this save as I blew a lead but came out the game delighted as Boyle got 2 goals and Aouar got an assist and we could move on.

2717E34B-CA81-4DA9-BB36-590DBE0BE615.thumb.png.39181ac561168cd141350817e9ea2c2b.png

We could have continued to go east and hit a couple more islands and then Africa but I decided we would head south and then north and go to the land that had @samhardy inexplicably deported despite him just being a child at the time.

New Zealand 🇳🇿

We hit NZ at the perfect time as well as summer is just kicking in but the guide I choose looks a bit like he hasn’t seen the sun in years unless that was what bleecjhed his hair 🤔

24DC18B6-04F8-4244-A9A9-1182BE1C6C9B.thumb.png.7773f0fb911987b1b8d84ba97dd880ca.png

Another player to join from MLS and at least the 2nd to join from Vancouver Whitecaps as we signed him for £1.7m.

We had another draw before we secured our progress in the Champions League and then beat Watford but no goals from Bevan.

645AC00E-7AA0-4193-961C-965EF9F6725A.thumb.jpeg.125e025554b3f8e379eefcf82e1a1ed9.jpeg

I decided to try the trick that I used with Córdoba to get us out of Argentina and I swapped Bevan over to the TM role and Davis to the AF role for the game versus Man City.

It worked a treat as Big Bev got his nod on an Aouar corner late in the match to win it for us and mean we could move on.

Keith Flint R.I.P.

I’ve used Martin Boyle a few times and he’s a decent lad so nice to see him getting the job done quickly.

Got to be Australia or Tasmania next although you often take the surprise route!
