We find ourselves at the end of another season but we are also reaching the end of this adventure as we are into the heart of Europe. By my estimations we have another 2 updates after this one before we get home.

Poland 🇵🇱

I think the MLS has been my best hunting ground for players during this save and I found another cracker this time in Philadelphia as I spent £5.75m on this guy.

This was an inspired choice as it turns out and he must have been the quickest “guide” we have had on this journey as he smashed in a goal after 7 minutes assisted by Aouar. He smashed in another 3 goals after the first just to make sure.

Luckily I had my next destination and next guide sorted and ready for the next league game.

Sweden 🇸🇪

I wanted to make sure we paid a visit to Scandinavia although we did Denmark when we visted Greenland early on.

Sweden is a nation with a rich history of strikers with Zlatan and Henrik Larsson being the two best. My choice wasn’t quite in the same league as those two but he looks decent enough. We raided Watford for the former Mainz playmaker Robin Quaison and he set up back £8.

Robin isn’t a natural striker and isn’t the best technically but he’s quick and that can count for something in this game. He certainly didn’t get the job done as quickly as Kacper but 4 games was enough.

With Robin’s ability it was likely he would score against one of the weaker teams and that was the case here with a goal against Preston. Aouar got the assist again.

We moved west...

Norway 🇳🇴

I indulged in a little nostalgia with my pick in Norway as I went for a striker who did a good job for me earlier in the year in my Steal One save. Josh King isn’t the player he was though back in season 1 of the game and time has taken its toll as we reach the end of season 5. This did mean that Bournemouth snapped my hand off though when I offered them £400k for him.

He hasn’t lost any pace though.

We had won the league and the squad seemed to decide to get on the Norwegian beach for the final few league games but we did make the Champions League Final.

We had one more league game against Brighton before we continue with Norway into season 6. Luckily the lads decided to turn up one more time in the league and we smashed 5 past them including a King penalty and Aouar got an assist as well.

That means new season and new striker in the next update.

Season Round Up

Another pretty successful season although we needed pens to win the Champions League and a possible record as each team took 12 before we got a result.

I bet you would have liked to have kept that Pole for a few more games if you could.

Not long to go now. I’m not sure which way you are going to go here but I’ll have a guess at Holland?

Nope not but you are close.

The Polish guy didn't mess around did he! I bet he'd get some goals against MLS defences.

He was great in that game so I certainly think he would trouble the MLS although as you can see in his screenshot joining Arsenal boosted his attributes a little bit very quickly.

We start the 6th season of this save today which is far more than I ever expected to get out of this career. We are getting near the end now though as we are sat in Norway and preparing to head south again on the penultimate update of this career.

Germany 🇩🇪

Germany is the 2nd most successful nation in World Cup history and was certainly a nation I wanted to visit during this save. The lad I choose has just won promotion to the Premier League this year in real life with Norwich City but in game I signed him from Maritimo for £3.1m.

Not a player that has ever threatened the national team but he looks decent for what we need.

It wasn’t the best start to this season though as after 5 games we were still in Germany trying to get that goal and assist combination. The team performance was good though and we did lift 2 trophies.

His 6th game was against Brentford who are the type of team that we often get the job done against. That was the case here as Dennis got himself a double and Aouar got the assist we needed.

7DD0CC58-611E-43CA-807F-F89FF51F2807.thumb.png.5f86cebc02e14529960084232f56fc8a.png

From one of the most powerful footballing nations in the world we headed to one of the weakest.

Luxembourg 🇱🇺

The Luxembourg national team has been in every World Cup qualifying campaign since 1934 but has never reached the finals of that or the European Championships and have competed in the most qualifying campaigns of any nation without reaching a major competition finals.

I didn’t have any real strikers in the DB and I’m not using regens in this save so I had to go for a midfielder as I was determined to visit Luxembourg. Saying that I only had one option then but luckily even if his shooting isn’t very good he can at least head a ball.

Pereira joined from his real life club Lyon for £7.5m.

90F44B33-3AE0-42DC-A8C0-767786C78539.thumb.png.3e2b96c90a7871189fa59c9022e7ed2a.png

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the first 2 games he played were 0-0 draws but in the cup games we played we scored a few goals.

AACE65A3-668E-4476-B99C-5DC976EE8EC9.thumb.jpeg.2ad4b084fd2996755105428007cf79bd.jpeg

He did get the job done in the 3rd game of the season but the result was far worse for us than a 0-0 as we got an inexplicable hammering from Liverpool. Actually it is explainable because I changed the tactic to try and get Pereira a goal and found ourselves 2-0 down before he got the job done from an Aouar assist.

End of the day we got the Luxembourg ticked off so I was weirdly pleased with the game overall.

We headed to the next destination in poor form with no wins in 3 league matches.

France 🇫🇷

I had no problems finding a striker in France as I had about 4 pages of options including some worldies. I have spent a lot of money recently on players with some players costing up to a whooping £13m so I decided to reel it in a bit in France and the lad I signed came on a free transfer having been released by Gijon in the summer.

He has a few good qualities such as strength and pace but to say he is average would be very kind to him.

BF8B107C-A2F4-4838-910A-203487ED8E1E.thumb.png.cb13bd699bcc85ec1283698a37214a49.png

Average or not he did a great job.

Our poor league form continued as we couldn’t beat Brighton and I was hoping we could get back to winning ways when we took on Bournemouth.

We did get back to winning ways but I was worried when the Cherries took the lead. It was Ba who got us back in the game and Davis who got the assist before he went off injured. It was just a 10 day knock for Davis so no great damage.

That leaves us in France and just a short distance from England (21 miles at the channels narrowest point) but we are going to visit a few more countries first before we attempt to get back to London.

No shame in getting demolished by Liverpool.😀

Not surprised there was a load of French options as there seems to be a load of gems available from France.

Since Ashez squad number challenge I usually always load the French league as one of my leagues as he got so many decent players from that league for decent fees too. Not all French players mind but loads of options.

That’s really true and it is one of my favourite leagues to add in.

Well I have liked both Brentford, Bristol City and Barnsley in this save as they have been the clubs that have most often taken the players I have finished with off my hands.

Welcome to the final update of this save and if you are still reading this then congratulations you have reached the end of the journey.

We finished the last update in France and just a short hop back over the English Channel from home but I wanted to visit 2 more nations.

Belgium 🇧🇪

I wanted to make a visit to Belgium as they have some of the finest beer in the world so it would have been rude not to go and sample some.

Belgium has produced some excellent footballers in the last decade and I think I found a decent on here in the shape of Obbi Oulare who joined from Vancouver for £14.75m.

25478942-89BF-44C3-A7F2-424B3E228447.thumb.png.274b68949c83baac75bb68bba7ca5f21.png

He has all the qualities to be a pretty decent target man. After our poor form in the last update we are very much back to winning ways with Oulare netting the winner against Man City but no assist from Davis or Aouar unfortunately.

I mentioned that Brentford have been a good team for completing a nation well so have Crystal Palace and that was the case with Belgium as Oulare got the only goal of the game after being assisted by Davis.

Netherlands 🇳🇱

We had fun sampling the beer of Belgium and we headed north to there neighbours although I have no idea what fun we can find in Amsterdam 🤔

Holland is another country with a rich history of great footballers and again I found a pretty decent TM in my search in the shape of Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst. He joined from Bordeaux for £13.75m.

187B4C9F-50B6-4DF3-931C-46D2E5CC332D.thumb.png.e13d2576328fe0dd4c98553fd1082019.png

We didn’t get long to sample the delights of Holland as Wout was a man on a mission after we had beat Fenerbahce in the champions league.

77A02C41-D5D1-4250-9990-9F96496134F8.thumb.jpeg.4019a1082944f516f772c143fa538c6b.jpeg

Wout’s first match was against Huddersfield who have again proved easy pickings in this save. So it proved again as Wout nodded one in in the first 3 min of his debut from an Aouar corner before he got another one towards the end of the match.

That means we could head west across the North Sea and back into England.

England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

It would be very easy to call it a day here but all we did was land back in England we still need a guide to get us back to London where we began. Our guide when we left England way back in season 1 was Lincoln striker John Akinde but 6 seasons later he has long retired so I needed someone else.

That someone else was the son of former Portsmouth and Oxford striker Lee Bradbury. Harvey is currently coming through the youth ranks at Oxford and the club seem to have high hopes for him and looking at his FMM stats 6 seasons in he isn’t bad as a lower league striker. I have splashed the cash so far this update but Harvey only cost £110k so he was a nice frugal signing to end the save.

068AFEEF-13FE-45DC-B867-B4CB05A0CD14.thumb.png.6a80226680ca726b95942da6a49c4a7a.png

He looks pretty decent for the lower leagues but he certainly isn’t Premier quality so I thought I might have a few games out of him before he was done.

First of though we won the Club World Cup which hopefully will be the final trophy in this save as if we play the League Cup final in February then Harvey has really struggled!

Except he didn’t struggle he smashed it out the park in his first match as he scored after 6 minutes as we hammered Middlesbrough 5-0. The final assist came from Aouar.

I’m going to gather up all the screenshots of the strikers that I used and do a career round up post at some point this week as much for myself so that I can look back at who I used through the journey as I’m sure I have forgotten a few gems.

I just want to take the chance to thank everyone who has commented or just read any parts of this career. It went on a lot longer than I ever planned but it seems a good number of you stuck with it for the duration which is cool.

Thanks for reading and all comments are appreciated.

Fair, we don't do ales so much here. Not heard of them but I do like some of the "black beers" here as a nice change. But yeah our pils is divine - can't drink English fizzy pop when I come back now (I take the chance to grab an ale instead!)

Anyway bravo - all hail the geography challenges :D

Great little adventure this has been.😀

I had a Polish girlfriend for a year or two just over ten years ago so I’ve sampled a few of the Polish beers and most of them are decent and they are all pure rocket fuel.

I’ll look forward to your career round up.

Worked with a few Polish lads over the years and tried a few of there rocket fluke beers and they aren’t for me tbh as they are a bit sweet for my tastes. Talking of rocket fuel have you ever had homemade Czech Slivovitz @Mr Tree?

Glad you both have enjoyed the save mate 👍🏻

Ohhhhh yes. Horrible stuff! Plum brandy. Wife's family gave it me one Christmas, proudly telling me it was poison, and I was asleep by 2pm :D

Stuff I had was homemade and it was like drinking bloody petrol!!! Funnily enough it put me to sleep as well for about 15 hours and then woke with no hangover although I have no memory of getting from the BBQ back home :D

I am ashamed of my self as i missed your last update.

Its a shame this has come to an end but it has been one of my fave careers to follow on Vibe for awhile and you deserve massive kudos for keeping it going.

Loved it. Well done mate.

With the journey over I thought it would be good to just round it all up especially as I can’t remember every striker I used and it would be nice to have a single post to be able to look back at all the players involved.

The Journey

We travelled 80,000km or 49,709miles around the world, visited 59 nations and it took 207 league games to complete.

Philleas Fogg and Jean Passepartout

It was Keinan Davis and Houssem Aouar job to assist our guides from each nation both lads did an excellent job but I won’t be submitting there assist totals to the leaderboard.

Trophies

We won the league title in all 5 seasons we completed but with the cups not counting towards the journey I often rested players in them so we were less prolific in collecting them.

Top work, great round-up. But I'm really here just to say "Transfer Acumen, one!" :D:D (no stress, I guess it's just a reflection on some of your zanier choices, plus the frequent quick turnover of players)

Its hard to argue with that 1 when I signed some of the shitters I did! I wonder how much of that was based on the quality of some of the players and how much was because I sold a lot of players for less than I paid for them 🤔
