I think he might have got closer to 100 goals preupdate but it was a decent total.

Great season, especially given the circumstances.

In FMM17 I felt that my player performed better when he was fresh, so I used to give him a couple of weeks off every so often and he'd score better after the break. That might have been my imagination, but it's looking like keeping the player fresh is actually important now.

Great season again mate, and useful explanation of how you managed Mitro's game time.

I have started a TT recently with young players and they are generally playing 1 in 2. I have found it more beneficial letting them play 90 then rest a game rather than taking them off early as when doing this they are still knackered next game. Frustrating as hell but hopefully as they get into their 20's this will change as their fitness/stamina levels improve.

I agree with that but I find once I’m into the seasons I have this urge to get him on the pitch as much as possible. With the new updates I ave really had to fight that urge and make sure I sub him as well to keep him fresh. Seemed to pay off this season and it is only going to become more important as he gets older.

I expect I will need to adopt a similar policy as Mitro gets older but hopefully by then he won’t need to many goals to reach the magic 1k.

Yeah, I had that urge too, sometimes ignored it, sometimes didn't...

I've noticed there is a new signal: "In need of a rest" on the Training screen. That comes on before the other needs a rest message (in the Personal screen I think). The new one seems to turns off when they get to 100%, so maybe I'm back to only playing them when they are 100%. Gonna need to experiment a bit...

Oh snap, now I have that message turned on for someone at 100%. A goalkeeper. You know because it's important to rest your goalie and make sure they don't get worn out from all that standing about....

Season 7

Last season I managed to overcome the new update and with a lot of fiddling and subbing I got Mitro to score 91 goals and keep the 1kc on track.

This season Mitro hit the milestone of 30 years old and as happens to the best of us he has started to slow down a bit. As the season got towards the end a few of the dreaded red arrows appeared on his attributes screen.

A couple of the attributes that declined are a big worry but shooting, movement and strength is.

This season was played on hotfix 2 that came out last week and seems to have toned down the conditioning a little more. This along with a lot of subbing meant that Mitro featured in 60 games this season but with him playing on average 65 minutes per game he played around about 43 full 90 minute matches.

He didn’t score at a huge rate this season but he averaged 1.6 GpG and knocked in 96 goals. This figure was skewed by the fact he banged in 5 in the Champions League final but is still a great return and keeps us moving on with the challenge into his 30’s.

He now requires 325 goals to hit the 1k so if he can get 81 goals in the next 4 seasons he will get it done but that is a big if as he is getting on a bit now.

This was an excellent season but it feels a little like the end of his glory days. I hope I’m wrong but those red arrows make me think this is going to start to be a bit trickier.

Great stuff mate! That’s an insane g2g ration and one I’ve never got close to in any save ever so kudos to you man 👍

 

Slighty sad about his drop in stats though. Not sure why hitting 30 would affect his technical abilities though?! Yeah sure his physicals should be starting to decline but there are plenty of players that have improve the technical side of their game to compensate for their loss in physical attributes. Teddy Sheringham is one that immediately springs to mind.

I agree, I’m not sure why a players crossing,shooting or tackling would get worse due to hitting 30 but there we go...

I hope so, I’m thinking if I can get 2 more seasons of high 80s or into the 90s then that will go along way to helping him get there as I won’t need such big scores for the final couple of seasons then.

It’s a grind mate and also annoying having to keep subbing him on 60-70 minutes but the goal total made it worth it.

Great stuff mate. I think he'll have enough to get over over the line, no worries. 30 years old is a little early to start the decline, but I think he'll keep scoring well as he declines.

As for the hotfix thing, I shudder to think what the first Winter update version was like... I think I'm starting my 1KC again on 10.1.3 (pre-winter version). I was scoring a goal a game, but just wasn't enjoying all the mucking around. I don't think I could do a full 1KC on that. Props to you for doing it here though.

I have 2 world class 11’s now so I can mix and match very easily so long as I keep Mitro fit. I don’t think I would have done as well in the early seasons had I started this challenge on the update.

Season 7

So somehow it has been nearly 2 weeks since I updated this so sorry about that and hopefully you haven’t all forgotten about this save. It does continue but I have been a bit busy with 80 Games and losing the final of the VPL.

Anyway this has been going well but we are moving into the autumn years of Mitro’s career and we still have a lot of goals to get. 325 in fact and the big man turned 31 at the beginning of this season.

His physicals are dropping now quite quick which is a real worry so I brought in a 2nd fitness coach just to see if he can slow down that decline.

On the pitch though he can still for the most part do the business and I keep up with the policy of subbing him as much as I can to keep him fit. This season he played in 55 games so he completely missed out on playing in 9 games so not too bad.

It looks like the 90+ goal seasons are a thing of the past though as he got 85 this year which is still an excellent total and one that keeps him in line to get the 1kc if the decline doesn’t destroy him to quickly in the next few seasons.

He needs another 240 goals which works out as 80 goals for the next 3 seasons if he can manage that or 60 for the next 4.

Another good season but it looks like I need to set my goal sights for Mitro a little lower but that’s ok as all the good work he has done in his 20s means that we are well on target at the moment.

Retirement is a worry, but don't worry about his age or attributes. You'll be able to get him across the line. After all, I did it with this guy:

I’m not sure what I’m looking for in that screenshot as he just looks like the standard SPL quality striker to me
