Career Aleksandar the Great: A “Risky” 1kc - Seasons 13 and 14

It was “squeaky bum time” when I was offering him and and I really had to force myself to press confirm but it paid off with some extra seasons.

Hopefully next season but at least I have a couple of back up seasons if needed 🙂

He got 120 goals in his first game of season 12 so a few more of them and I think he will be ok.

Season 12

This could be the season that Mitro hits that sweet 1k total and he needs 46 goals to get there so should be done by Xmas. Except last season he got 48 and he is worse than he was last season.

Poor old Mitro is now a shell of his former self but he can still head it so not all is lost.

I decided that I would try and only play Mitro in league games and easy cup matches in an attempt to try and keep him as fit as possible and hopefully bang the goals in against easier teams. That was ok for most of the season but I will admit I did chase it a bit at times and he ended up making 49 appearances.

By the final game of the season Mitro had 45 goals to his name so it was now or never if I wanted to get the 1k done in 12 seasons. The final game was the Champions League Final and we took on Atletico which was the club I managed when I got my first 1kc using Arp last season.

It must have been written in the stars as we won a penalty just before half time.

Goal 1000 was a penalty so not massively exciting but who cares he got the job done in the end 🙂

So he ends season 12 on exactly 1000 goals for myself and Barca. I’m well chuffed to have got this 1kc under my belt with a player that is a bit older than the usual 1kc choice.

Ending this on 1000 goals seems a nice round number but I have other ideas and I will continue for the last 2 seasons of Mitro’s contract. That will ensure I can get a few more form him and he won’t be bottom of the 1kc leaderboard but I also have a couple of other side projects that could benefit from another 2 more seasons.

Firstly I have my top assister Dilrosun who despite being understudy to Douglas Costa for the first few seasons of this save is closing in on 300 assists which seems a good total to submit to the leaderboard.

It seems a shame now looking back at his history that I didn’t focus on him from the start as he would be getting near 400.

Only 2 assists in season 3 😱 he has done a great job getting the total he has as he was never first choice until season 5 and has never had exclusive corner duties up until now.

In order for Dilro to get to 300 or more assists he is going to need someone to assist and as we have seen Mitro isn’t really up to the job of hitting big goal totals any more and with Dilro being an out and out winger he needs a good target for his crosses.

That means the guy who has had to play 2nd fiddle to Mitro for season after season gets his chance to shine. In the early seasons of the save the understudy was Fullkrug but he moved on long ago and made way for a homegrown Barca player.

Migue is a real player and has been at the club for the whole time myself and Mitro  have except for a season on loan around season 5 and has been 2nd choice striker for 6 seasons now and has consistently banged the goals in when he has the chance. In fact if you look at his attributes he is very similar to Mitro as he is quick, strong and good in the air.

So for the final 2 seasons Mitro has on his contract he will play as back up to Cotilla and if he can add another 10-20 goals onto his 1k total then great. My main focus will be getting Dilro to 300 or more assists and with a bit of luck getting a 100 goal season with Cotilla and maybe improving my 100 club GpG total.

Despite playing with a geriatric Mitro upfront for most games we had another excellent season with plenty of other players getting in on the goals.

He has scored a good amount of goals this year despite Fulham being awful for most of the season so I’m sure someone will be looking to pick him up as he. If not Fulham have a hell of a striker in the Championship next season.

The updates have certainly kept it interesting that’s for sure despite probably costing Mitro a few goals on his total. Thanks for the support.

See what you are forgetting is that Mitro is a master showman so why would he knock in his 1000th gaol in some poxy league game when he can do it in front of the world in a Champions League final.

Its weird with Cotilla as he looks like a good player to bang 100 goal season out with and that would be great but in some ways it would be a shame if Mitro got overshadowed by Cotilla getting a better GpG ratio. His main job is to make assists for Dilro and maybe 100 goals might be beyond him especially now the game is updated and conditioning becomes a factor more.

Even though Mitro is now very much 2nd choice I’m hoping he can perhaps add 10 or 20 more onto his total but anything more than 3 goals and he won’t be bottom of the leaderboard so that’s a bonus.

Do you mean when doing a transfer?

Sometimes putting the player you want to use in a swap deal on the transfer list will make him show up.

Season 13 and 14

It’s time to tie up the loose ends in this career. I have got Mitro the 1k but I decided to play the final 2 years of his contract so he retires with a few more goals in his back pocket. He is playing now 2nd fiddle to Migue Cotilla now who’s job was to score as many as he can to both see if I can improve my 100 club score but also to get assists for Dilrosun and get him above 300 for his career.

Before you see how the last two seasons went I thought I would show you this. My plan had always been to get the Serbia job to help Mitro on his way. Despite keeping an eye on the job market and the Serbian manager often being insecure in his job the Serbia job never came up for me to apply for. 

That was until I had a little look on the job listings the day Mitro retired! I had convinced myself that I hadn’t loaded the right leagues to get enough Serbians and that the job wasn’t an option for me although I kept looking all through the career.

I didn’t know whether to 😂 or 😭

Lets start with the true hero of this career.

Mitrovic

Mitro didn’t start many games in his final two seasons and was reduced to playing the final 15-20 matches when I was resting Cotilla. That means he was never going to add many more to his total but anything beyond the 1k is a bonus now.

This is how he looked at the end of season 14 just before he retired. Not a patch on his pomp but I have seen and used far worse strikers.

He actually had a better season 14 than 13 despite less appearances as he had more goals and a higher AvR. He scored 10 in season 13 and then 19 in season 14 meaning he finished with 1029 goals in his Barcelona career.

Not bad for a lad who turned 24 a month into season 1 and I think he lived up to my billing of Alexsandar the Great.

On the 29th June 2032 his contract with Barcelona finished and he retired the same day 😢

Migue Cotilla 

After years of being understudy to Mitro this was Cotilla’s time to shine and he took the chance with both hands with 2 excellent seasons. My aim was to get a couple of 100 goal seasons out of him and hopefully improve on my 100 Club score that Mitro set of 1.78 GpG. In season 13 Cotilla did indeed get a 100 goal season and in fact he hit 102 in total.

It took him 60 games to get that total though meaning he had a GpG ratio of 1.7 so he couldn’t better Mitro but he still had season 14. He had a better AvR in the next season but he couldn’t better the GpG and in fact he couldn’t get 100. He scored a hat trick in the final game of the season but finished 1 goal short in 2 less games. He would have again scored a 1.70 GpG had he got 1 more goal so he would never have beaten Mitro anyway.

It would have been nice to improve on Mitro’s total but actually I’m glad he didn’t over shadow the Serbian God.

 

Javairo Dilrosun

The aim with Dilro was to get him over 300 assists for the career which would be a decent return and get him a worthy spot in the leaderboard if not near the top. Cotilla was the big difference for Dilro as he loved having a world class target to aim for and he really boosted his numbers with a 40 assist and then 35 assist season.

This meant he finished with 337 assists for the career. If I have one regret it’s that I didn’t focus on him more early in the career as he played 2nd fiddle to Douglas Costa in the early days but the aim was always Mitro and Costa was the better player. Had I put Dilro on all corners once he hit the first team proper then I’m sure he would have got closer or broken the 400 assists barrier.

He has one year on his contract and plans to retire at the end of it so maybe I will give him one more season to see if he can break 350 but that won’t be anytime soon.

Any Other Business 

We lost one final in the last 2 seasons but it was only the Euro Super Cup so not a huge blow.

I’m delighted that I got as many goals as I did with a player that starts a bit older than the usual players used in a 1kc and although this was a pretty “standard” type of save I’m delighted with how many of you have followed along.
