Help Question about role traits

I have found recently that paying attention to the role traits a player has makes a huge difference in performance I have even managed to make a BWM in the DM position play well following this. I wanted to ask everyone’s thoughts on the following trait ‘stops play’ this is normally on a DLP. I am unsure of whether this mean the player stops play while looking for the right pass or stops play from the opposition.

if anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know

It means that that player would likely hold on to the ball more and wait for his teammates to get into better position
