Tactics a 4312, with a trequartista, no wingers.

HI all, 

got sick of the trident set ups and the new fashionable 433  variants so I went back a to a narrow 4312 system. Also i had two strikers that i couldnt drop.

The idea was taken from the Mourinho Inter team that won the treble.

Mourinho's Inter team was pretty versatile that it could switch between a 4312 to a 3412 or a 4132 etc. So my tactic needed to be a little flexible.

Here is the standard set up with a trequartista. Second image is the more balanced set up I use away from home against the bigger sides.

Team instructions never change.

Results are solid so far, let me know if it works for you

I like the look of that second setup. With the right players that could be very solid by itself.

your poacher will score the bulk of the goals here, but there are plenty from midfield and the second striker as well

Thanks for sharing, off topic you have THE beast in your bbm position, Milinkovic-Savic can easy be trained to any position and he is a 30-goals a season kind of guy :)!

On the second formation I’d be tempted to move the wing backs slightly further forward, thanks for sharing though man.

Ohhh good suggestion! With the DLP dropping back to provide cover, the wingbacks can take a more advanced role.

Did you ever complete a season with this?

i did. Won it all (serie a, coppa italia and a CL)  but it struggled against sides that sat very very deep, narrow and with slow tempt

Will an advanced forward work with the TM in this tactic?

What's the thinking with Nainggolan playing to the left of Icardi and Martinez? Why not immediately behind the front two?

I moved Martinez up because he wasnt scoring enough goals for my liking.

I think his stats are better suited to  playing at the top

That depends on your striker i think. I went for a Poacher because that is Icardi's best role in game
