Club 2

After resigning at Shelbourne I wanted to get straight back into work as quickly as possible. Luckily because Ireland is a summer league I resigned in September just as the other leagues are getting into full swing and teams are ditching managers so there was plenty of jobs coming up.

Again I wasn’t fussy and went for the first job that came my way.

It was Woking who saw me as the ideal man for there vacant managers post so we where heading to Surrey on the very edge of South West London. It hasn’t been the best start for The Cards in the National League South and they were languishing on the edge of the relegation zone in 18th.

As you may have noticed they had a cup replay against Chippenham coming up so annoyingly they are still in the FA Cup so even if the league goes well it hugely unlikely we will make the end of the season.

We made an ok start though as we drew our first league game and then beat Chippenham.

That win put us into the First Round proper and I had a huge incentive to continue at Woking for as long as I could because we drew Oxford Utd in the next round.

We needed to not lose in our next 4 matches and I could lead the team out at Grenoble Road against my beloved Yellows.

We built on that win in the cup and went on a 3 game winning run and then a draw away at Chippenham. This was enough though to set up the game with Oxford.

I knew my time at Woking would be fairly short but I would have loved to maybe get a draw or nick a win against “the boys from up the hill”. It wasn’t to be though as Oxford showed there quality and put 3 past us.

Straight after the game I handed in my resignation and my time in Woking was over.

It wasn’t without some brief success though as I took the club to the heady heights of 13th in the table and closer to the playoffs than the drop zone.

Thats a good reason to stop supporting them then! 😅 plus your turning into Sven leaving jobs this soon 😂😂😂

That was a decent run though so your rep has got better.

Club 2

I said in the OP that I wanted to manage at least one club in every nation of the British Isles but with only 4 leagues able to be loaded I hadn’t included Wales so I was relying on getting a job at one of the English leagues Welsh clubs. Realistically that means Wrexham and when I resigned at Woking and checked the job list that particular club was on there so I straight away applied more in hope than expectation but....

C473AF28-4493-454C-9C11-8CC9A670E1C2.thumb.png.d4857912af2049119a23b33bceb6fce0.png

I was joining a team with high expectations but they hadn’t started the season well and were languishing down in mid table. Still lots of the season to go and a Cup game against league 1 Plymouth as well means I’m just aiming to give them a little boost before I inevitably need to resign.

26C728C3-E2AD-4F82-A5AC-6C53A7D456F6.thumb.png.58c4e559afdad217e92761458ac7b12d.png

We had three league games before we played Plymouth at the Racecourse and I was hopeful that we could get as far as that cup game. The Orient game looked the toughest but actually we had good wins in all three games with plenty of goals as well.

E0AC3AB0-EBA7-4535-BD41-88BD85B4C34B.thumb.jpeg.c1f394394e25bcfe1d41a656751ba72f.jpeg

So far I have been beaten by higher league opponents at both clubs I have been at in this save leading to my departure each time. I wasn’t massively hopeful we would get through this game either but I was determined we would give it a good go.

Statistically we got outclassed but the boys did me proud and we live to fight on another day. You guys honestly have no idea how pleased I was to get this draw but it might be one of my happiest FMM moments which is why I love these weird saves as they can make mundane results into a huge deal.

875B8F42-68A3-4AE4-A141-D3CAB20A1841.thumb.png.0d11ddff8a93020a44a95d80619043ff.png

So we have a replay against Plymouth in a couple of weeks but first we need to keep getting results in the league otherwise I won’t be in charge for the trip to Devon.

It was just two games between the Plymouth games and we still had our scoring boots on but the defence had gone AWOL. Either way I would be in the dugout for the Plymouth match.

I would love to say we pulled off a great giant killing but we really never got close as Plymouth comprehensively booked there place in round 3.

And with that our time in Wales came to an end.

We gave it a good go though and as we approach Christmas I’m hoping most jobs I get now will be at clubs that are out all the cups.

I’m not sure what has made my player bias or financial control go down or my youth policy and transfer acumen go up but here’s my manager profile for what it’s worth.

A short but exciting run that mate!

All my runs have been short so far with Shelbourne being the longest at 8 games and then 7 games a piece at Woking and Wrexham. Hopefully I can last a bit longer at a club soon.

Mate....a brief but entertaining spell that one.

It would be nice if I could keep it entertaining but maybe a bit less brief at a club soon. Moving into the new year I’m hoping to get jobs at clubs that are out the cups so we can have a bit of a run of games at one place.

Another decent effort that but back to the drawing board I’m afraid.😄

I feel like I’m permanently at the drawing board with this save as I’m never at a club long enough to even learn the players names. It’s been good fun so far though.

Club 4

I left Wrexham in mid December and I decided that I would wait till after Christmas to look for another job especially as it was slim pickings on the job market at that time. I advanced till the 1st of Jan and then hit the job centre once again but it still wasn’t much available. I did have one job that interested me as it would take me north of the border for the first time.

9320D4FF-6460-47A7-8EF0-A59D4F6B4110.thumb.png.ca7f62018f4074365eba4f58ea76af65.pngE13A29E4-E883-410E-A826-4C47C5CAAB05.gif.5d32b5f9124ac46f64ca1a96f8fcb578.gif

Yet again we join a team in trouble but for the first time it’s a team that aren’t in any more cup competitions so we will either go on a great run to the end of the season or we will resign from a job based on a league loss for the first time.

They have lost there last 3 before I took over which has put them 2nd from bottom so we have a job on our hands.

In our favour we have Elgin City who are just above us and Albion who are below us in the first two games so we could get off to a good start before we play playoff chasing Clyde.

We took advantage of the easier start with two straight forward 2-0 wins and maybe this could be a late run to the playoffs! The game with Clyde would be a good barometer of that.

The answer was no we couldn’t make a late run for anything as we reached the end of the road at Cowdenbeath and our first loss in a league game.

Despite those two wins we ended up still in 9th and still 3 points off the bottom.

Weirdly I’m loving this save and although each loss is annoying especially that one against Clyde I then get to go and find a new club and set of players and that constant changing is refreshing.
