My local team.😀

They finished bottom in real life this year with a -64 goal difference so you probably had your work cut out here tbf.

Sounds like I didn’t do too bad then 😀

After the heartbreak of missing out on promotion or even leading Berwick into the playoffs because of a penultimate game of the season defeat I thought that was the end of season 2. I was already to continue to the every end of the season and see what jobs were about but I decided I would take a quick look in case anything interesting was going to take me into season 3.

There was 3 jobs available but 2 were in England where I have no interest in managing at the moment. The other one was in Scotland and I have to say it really tickled my fancy so I went for it....

and got it 🙂

The reason Clyde interested me is very easy to see when you look at the league table on the day I took over.

544547A1-B58A-439B-BA7D-92E754C0E23D.thumb.jpeg.865215f2bc04880181d32aca71f74c46.jpeg

Already qualified for the playoffs with 1 game to go in the league against mid table side could not have been more perfect.

Form has been a little up and down in the last 10 games but this is a real opportunity to swoop in and be the hero.

We needed to avoid defeat to Forfar in the final league game and I could then attempt to get them promoted in the playoffs.

Defeat was avoided...just and we set up a tie against Edinburgh City in the semi finals. Remember though if I lose in any leg of the tie even if it was the 2nd leg and we went through on aggregate I would have to resign.

We got the job done in the 1st leg by winning 4-0 but that worried me a little going into the 2nd leg as my boys might have been complacent and Edinburgh motivated to win back some pride.

It was much more even in the 2nd leg but we saw the game out and set up a final against Championship Dundee Utd again over 2 legs.

D792FFD2-BD58-4572-9995-2D9D6A71F6FD.thumb.jpeg.53021c7f7450d810973052782550205b.jpeg

This would be tough against a higher league side but they have spent the season being beaten week in, week out so morale is low compared to us.

The first leg was very tight but a Goodwillie penalty was the difference between us going into the 2nd leg.

6990917A-F790-4152-9912-FF19109A7D75.thumb.png.af91de60df93e5fd06c8feac02479069.png

This leg wasn’t so tight as we blew Dundee away with our attacking “do or die” football that has either served me well or crashed and burnt at every club I have been at so far this save.

That means we have our 2nd promotion of this save and our 2nd via the playoffs although Slough was more of a sweet victory as I had to work much harder for it compared with Clyde where I just swaned in at the end of the season with them already in the playoffs and finished the job.

So I will start season 3 in Scotland but once I lose a game at Clyde I will be looking to move across the Irish Sea and look to win something over there. Although I have two promotions I still don’t have a real trophy on the mantelpiece.

I suppose I'm happy for you.....But only a little bit okay.

Don’t pretend you aren’t delighted 😛 This playoff win made up a little for missing out on the chance with Berwick but I will admit that still stings.

Nice little run there with Clyde. Hopefully you can win a cup and Ireland should give you a better chance with all the cup competitions over there.

That’s my hope. I won’t be doing any transfers with Clyde as I didn’t with Slough and although I won’t go out to lose games it’s inevitable I will at some point and then maybe I can look to go to Ireland as there season is into its 2nd half by then and see what I can do.

Yay another promotion! Well done bud.

Glad your swanning around Scotland....looking forward to how you get on.

I was wondering though if you lose a pre season game will you resign? Or are you only counting competetive games?

Time to swan around Ireland a bit now I think.

Pre season doesn’t count it’s only competitive games. I don’t play friendlies anyway tbh especially not on a save like this.

With a house move this save has been on hiatus for a week but most of the boxes are unpacked so it’s time to get on with the important stuff like FMM.

If you remember from last week I had walked into the Clyde job with 1 league game of the season left and them already in the playoffs thanks to the previous managers hard work. I then took all the glory by getting them promoted to the Scottish Championship via the playoffs.

Before the league starts in Scotland there is the group stage of the Betfred Cup so there was no guarantee I would get to manage Clyde in the Championship which would be the highest I have managed in this save. We won the first two games easy enough but Motherwell did for our time in Clyde and it was time to resign again.

Shame as it would have been nice to have got a game or two in the league under my belt.

It was still early in the season and I would have fancied a crack in the Republic of Ireland simply because they would be half way through the season and I might have got a chance if a trophy or promotion.

In the end though it was the North of the island that we went back to and I was hoping it would last more than the one game we had the last time.

We joined Ards in the Northern Ireland Premier League.

They had won the cup the season before so they were in the Europa League but had already been knocked out when I took over. The third game of the season is interesting as it’s the Charity Shield so an excellent chance for a trophy.

We needed to get past the first two league games though.

Two draws with the 0-0 at Crusaders being a very lucky result means I have a chance for a first trophy in this save although the way we played in both these games doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I was right not to be confident as we got outclassed by Cliftonville and again our visit to Northern Ireland is a quick one.

Nice enough attempt and nearly a trophy. I can’t see it being long before you win a cup if you decide to stay in Northern Ireland.

I’m going to be staying in Ireland now either North or Republic as the goal of the save has to be winning something in both nations before I call this quits.

Now this save is focused just on Ireland I decided to try and use the fact that the Republic’s a summer league to my advantage. I left Ards in August and at the time there was no jobs in Southern Ireland available so I decided to wait and see if any jobs came up that could give me a chance of a trophy or promotion.

I had a bit of a wait as not many jobs came up and the ones that did wouldn’t give me a chance of any success beyond keeping them up. In the end it was late October when Galway Utd came calling.

CF7D6BE6-01D9-469E-81D6-7F3008A863E3.thumb.png.9b18384bd042bff87f732a8ad63ce2a7.png

With 1 game left they were sat in 2nd with a chance of the title and automatic promotion but if not a playoff place was secured. I don’t know why the manager left but form is not good with no wins in 5 and only 2 wins in there last 10 games.

297EED4C-87C8-461C-80F9-37CF05F4DDF5.thumb.jpeg.b5935ff8ccb67d585659bf8f52410762.jpeg

We changed that by winning against U.C.D which secured 2nd place in the league which gave us a bye in the first playoff round. We had a 2 leg game against Limerick which if we could win would set up a tie against a Premier League side to go for promotion.

7C07F8D5-B967-4479-BFFC-2231680BEE35.thumb.jpeg.b80b06f604db1b7e92bf2e5c18cadcb0.jpeg

These were two tough games and Limerick might feel aggrieved that they didn’t beat us as they dominated shots but we were far more clinical.

2E294118-AA39-4863-A362-E6DA0A7C1667.thumb.png.725e791326683a64d8c4f54d105b42d2.png

This set up a tie with St Pat’s for a place in the Premier League next season.

We smashed them in the first leg and put one foot in the Premier league for next season but I still need to make sure I don’t lose the away game otherwise I will be gone and I can’t claim the achievement even if we go up.

ACCB2413-08A2-4C27-B1C5-5D5606E4E01E.thumb.png.ab6c6d6e905621d4786b40fa5b8b8364.png

It was a backs against the wall performance for us but St Pat’s had a similar problem to Limerick that they couldn’t get enough shots and target and convert enough of the ones they did.

This gave us promotion and the 2nd time in this save that I have waltzed in at the end of the season to a team already qualified for the playoffs and then finished the job.

The good times at Galway didn’t last though as we started the season in the Premier Division at home to Cobh Ramblers. It was an even match but they got the  only goal.

Well done on the promotion. What does your manager profile page looks like currently? Does it stay filled in even when between jobs?

It’s looking a bit weird really especially loyalty.

Nicely done at Galway with the promotion but unfortunately I now have that Ed Sheeren song in my head and shall we just say it’s not a favourite of mine.
