Season Twenty Two

Hello Vibe and welcome to the final update of this career.

This is the last year of Jun Se-Jin’s career and whilst he’s declined big style in recent seasons he’s still chipped in with a few goals. He’ll turn 40 just a few weeks into this season and I think that’s a nice age to finish on and hopefully he can add a few more goals to his total before hanging up his boots.

Transfers

As this is the last chance for me to get the Gundogan Victory challenge I decided to get a new German midfielder in. The chosen player was Rouven Dombrowa who is a great all round midfielder. Zakaria Eijer came in who is also a midfielder whilst Marco Mooy was brought in as a back up left wing back.

Team Performances

We won the lot which has become the norm in recent years. We won all of our league games with a tidy goal difference of 113.

League

We were at our brilliant best in the final league season and there’s not much more needs to be said really.

Super Cup

We beat Utrecht 2-1 but it was a bit of a struggle as we went behind and our new German midfielder managed to get himself sent off but we got it done in the end.

European Super Cup

We dominated Chelsea but couldn’t get many of our shots on target however the result was never in any doubt.

World Club Championship

Would’ve been nice to get a few more goals here but just couldn’t manage it.

Dutch Cup

We made hard work of this one too and it took an injury time winner from the German to seal the deal.

Champions League

We played Dortmund again in the final and beat them rather comfortably with Kubina netting a brace in a 2-0 win.

Fixtures

Nice run of fixtures as we only drew two games in all competitions and one of those was against Liverpool so quite the achievement. No Gundogan Victory challenge success on this save though as we had no 8-0 or 9-0 victories this season but I’ll try again at some point on another save.

I’m never too fussed about manager attributes to be honest but suppose these are ok.

Lots of trophies as we only missed out on the odd one during this career.

Romeo Jap Tjong

This guy has beaten my previous best assists tally by contributing a nice 351 during his career so I’ll put him forward for the assists challenge if regens count that is. He has the highest total of all the players currently at the club and I’m 90% certain it’s the best total of any players I’ve had on this save. I did have Bennetts and Handwerker earlier who had a fair few but can’t think they’d of matched this guy.

Jun Se-Jin

He’s not the best looking now in terms of attributes but at 40 years old I’d say he could easily be worse.

How did he perform in his final season?

He knocked in 13 goals in 41 games which is fine with me. He’s lost a few years of his stats though as the game now thinks he started his career in 2023. It’s still easy to work his total out though as we just need to add his 13 goals onto his last seasons total to get a total of 1243 goals in a fantastic career.

If you could please add my three scores onto the respective leaderboards @Foxy I’d be very grateful and I’m sorry there’s three at once but can’t be helped. They might not be the best scores but they’re definitely my greatest achievements on the game so far.

Final Thoughts

First off I’d like to thank everyone who’s followed this career and especially those who’ve dropped the odd comment along the way, it’s greatly appreciated.

Prior to this career I’d used a single striker formation in nearly all of my saves so I fancied a change and saw this challenge and went for it. I wanted to go with players who I hadn’t used or seen anybody else use to add a bit of mystery to it and I think that made it all the more enjoyable for me as I had no idea how much potential my duo had and it was nice to see them grow into great players.

Anyway that's the end of this career and I now move onto my next adventure so thanks again.

Thank you, When I started I only thought I had a chance of scraping the DT so to get the 1k also is really nice.

Thanks, I wanted to use a Korean as I’d been trying to think of a challenge for the VWC involving Gus Hiddink managing South Korea for the 2002 World Cup. I couldn’t get the challenge right but the thought of a South Korean in Holland stuck so wanted one of my duo to be from there.

Cheers Smoggy, I know and I think it’s the fact I always go for all round midfield types in midfield which could be a weakness in attack but luckily here I seemed to get a good tactic where such a high percentage of my goals were going to the strikers. I’ve tried just going for more goals in the past and always seem to have difficulty getting most of the goals to go to the strikers but I’ll surprise you one day with a Keegan type system I’m sure.

Thank you Ash, I wasn’t sure what challenge to try and was getting a bit tired of one up top systems so had a go at the DT on a whim. I wanted to go for players I’d found myself and it all went swimmingly so we ended up with a DT and 1k combined so can only be happy with that.😀
