I’m cool with you wanting to know what tactics I’ve used to get so many goals with one players so far, because I’ve only used it in the Ligue 1 at the moment so I don’t know if it’s effective elsewhere. 

So I’m cool as cucumber 😎

Season 9

Oh what big boy season this was for our Main Man!

Our Main Man!

How he did get on? I hear you ask. Well, this is his best season yet for myself. Scoring a whooping 85 goals in 41 games for club! That’s 18 more goals than last season, but what impressed me was he did it in 41 games. He played one more game than last season and scored 18 more goals! Then for country he hit another 18 goals so that’s smashing 103 goals in a season!

We managed to regain the Champions League back this season which I was happy about, but wondered if having the winter back helped Willem.

My theory behind this wondering, in season 8, Willem played 40 games and scored 65 goals for clubs, but we participated in World Cup Club Championship (whatever it’s called) so he didn’t get a break. 

Whereas in season 9 we didn’t participate in WCCC and he got have a bit of winters break and just went mental and scored 85 goals. 

Or maybe he’s just becoming a goal scoring machine and he’s going into his prime... who knows

Stat wise... I don’t think there has been any improvement.

So with the 103 goals this season, Willie has taken us massively past the halfway point and saying that I’ve got a good 5 years before he hits 30 and starting decline, I should be able to get this 1k complete.

How do you find he does as a CF? I always found Troy to drop too deep with that role. New kid seems to want to play it though and I’ve kept him at AF. 

Also, have you got Trent on corners or is he just a beast?!

He seems to be in the right place at the right, but will take long shots at times.

Trent is my corner taker, but I play with early crosses so any chance he gets he just whips the ball in

Ah cool. If you get someone who coaches say takes a good corner that’s at least 20-30 assists a season. He’s a beast.

To be fair only put Trent on corners because of the Barca game if I’m honest

Season 10:

Our Main Man:

I’m starting to hope that Willem Geubbels does well in real life, but time will tell. However, Willem didn’t hit the massive 85 for club like last season, but he did hit 73 goals and 15 international goals taking him to 88 goals for the season.

 

Manager shots: 

Another high scoring season from the team, but time to refresh some of the players as they are slowly ageing.

 

Progression shots:

Not improving anymore, don’t know if there is anything I can try to improve him more.

 

Total goals:

We’re left with 335 goals to get before he starts declining. I’ve worked it out if, he scores 84 goals for the next 4 seasons, then we will have completed the challenge.

 

Notable Mentions:

This game was over in the 30 minutes, before it just got brutal.

 

This game shouldn’t have gone to penalties, but some how it did.

 

This made me chuckle, because I thought we need to improve in more areas, but apparently it’s just the GK.

It’s alright bud, you’ve now caught up to date with the career and all I can say is thank for giving a read! 

It is now interesting that @Rob has started a 1.5k with Willem which I hope he smashes!

Season 11:

Our Main Man: 

How did Willem Geubbels get on? Well, this season I thought was going to be awful as he wasn’t scoring straight away and I didn’t think he was going to get 20 goals, but he proved me wrong. 

He got 72 goals in 46 games for club and 26 goals for country which is a good turn out for the season.

I’ve move him from a complete forward to Advance Forward and he’s clicked really well with that, probably because he’s got more traits as Advance Forward.

I can almost see the first line now.

Season 12:

Our Main Man: 

Willem looked like he was going to going to score loads of goals till he got injured for month, which to be honest seems like a lifetime at this point in the career. After his injury it seemed like it took him a while to find the net for club. Different story for country. However, he did manage to hit 77 goals for club and 18 for country. I’m sure he would have scored more for club, but he wanted a new challenge.

We’re a 142 goals away from the challenge and I’m not going lie I think I could get that next season with him, but we’ll find out

If I hit the 1k in my next season then, 1.5 could be possible, but hoping he doesn’t deteriorate

Season 13:

Our Main Man:

How did our Main Man get on? Well, I thought this was the season where he was going to hit 100 goals, because he was on fire at the beginning of the season. However, he only hit 68 goals for club and hit 28 for country. 

It was weird because it’s like he was slowly deteriorating already at 29.

 

Manager shots:

We was knocked out of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT for the first time in my career. I rotated my side and we was 3-0 at half time and couldn’t score a goal.

We only need 46 goals to get him the 1k. Nearly home boys.

He might be alright mate. Looks better than my lad did when he was ‘born’. Worth developing a season or two and see what happened. High technique. High stamina. He’ll be handy maybe.

I agree with @MikeF your son may just surprise you. He has some pace and isn’t too bad in aerial, shooting or movement so give him as much game time as you can as Guebbels number 2 and you may yet get a son 1k from him especially if the England job comes up.

I agree with the others as to me your son looks great and should develop all of the bread and butter striker attributes to a decent level. 

It gives you a bit of a decision to make anyway.

I’ve realised not to always believe what your scouts says because you can improve players massively with the right training

Season 14:

Our Main Man:

So I hear you’re all asking how the wonderful Willem Geubbels got on? Well, sad news guys... He got an injury and was out for the season. 

 

Nah I’m only joking 😂. Willem hit his best season ever for club at the prime age of 30. Scoring a whopping 90 goals for club and a standard 13 for country (would have been more if international friendlies counted). 

So with Willem scoring an impressive 851 goals for clubs #PSGLegend and an outstanding 206 for country in 148 caps leaves him on 1057 and he’s still got 3 years left on his contract.
