Season 4 and 5

I have decided that I am going to update two seasons at a time from now on in this save simply because now we are in the regen zone I think details like transfers are much less relevant so I can simply give you the basics about both seasons in terms of trophies, goals scored by my pair and any other news.

Season 4

I had a bit of a surprise this season as I unlocked sugar daddy for the first time which considering I spent 15 seasons winning everything at Barca before I joined Man City was a bit crazy.

Either way I accepted it although we don’t really need the money.

Last season we won a clean sweep of trophies but we couldn’t follow suit this year as Spurs did us in the FA Cup final. We did have another unbeaten league season though but along with that cup final loss we also lost to Shaktar in the CL group stage so two games lost all season was two more than all of last year.

It was the European Championship at the end of the season and I was hoping to do much better than the World Cup where we crashed out in the quarter finals to Spain.

We had Spain again this time in the group phase and it was our only blemish on the road to the final.

Job done and my first ever major international trophy on FMM was in the bag.

It was another productive season for the lads. My target was to beat last seasons total of 149 goals but a 3 week injury to Adams would make that harder.

We still beat that total though as the guys smashed in 160 goals for club and country. It would have been more but the Euros were played over the change of season so the goals scored after the season change I have put onto next seasons total.

Adams was actually 4 goals shy of a 100 goal season but in a lot of games as that includes internationals. He is looking good for a 1k if he can keep up that scoring record but with Foxy Jr that will be tighter I think. He knocked in 64 for the season which means if he can keep getting 64+ a year he will just scrap the 1kc.

At the end of the season the board decided to build a new stadium so for season 5 onwards we will be playing our matches in Foxy’s Den.

We got back our clean sweep this season but in the league we actually lost 2 matches and although one of those was when our entire squad were on international duty I was still disappointed to lose them both.

It was a busy summer with England as we had the Nations League immediately followed by the Confederations Cup so plenty of games to get goals but just like last year the Confed Cup straddled the change of season so not all the goals counted to the season 5 total.

We won our third Nations League beating Portugal.

 We then made it to the Confed Cup final and again played Spain.

This just leaves the World Cup and we will have all available international trophies.

This was an awesome season for both Adams and Foxy Jr as they scored a combined 196 goals for club and country. 

Adams scored 107 goals in the season but due to the large number of games he played that was never going to beat Mitro for my entry to the 100 club as he scored at 1.44 GpG. Foxy Jr really stepped it up as well as he banged in 71 goals in all competitions for Man City and then added 18 more for England to finish the season with 89 goals and give his 1k chances a massive boost.

This season has given me the belief that I won’t need to drop Adams once the DT is done to get Foxy Jr the 1kc as I think they can keep playing as a pair and both reach that total.

Your son has become quite impressive. My first was a goalkeeper and didn't improve at all. 

Although I wonder, why on earth doesn't anyone post their DT (guess it's Double Trouble) formations here? A 4-4-2 or a 4-2-4 was never my forte (had a go in FMH12, but forgot all about it, so I stuck to one man strike forces). It's not even listed on the Tactics index (not many 4-4-2/4-2-4s are there.

Please, could you post yours? I'd love to see how this could work out on my phone.

Foxy Jr is looking good and it’s amazing how many more minutes he can play just jumping from 14 to 15 stamina which is what means he scored a lot more in season 5 than he had before.

My tactic is a very basic 442 which is massively attacking and relies on the fact that my squad is much better than anyone else’s in the game. I might share it at the end of the save but I would be very surprised if it worked straight out the box at the start of a save.

Amazing numbers there mate, it's critical getting those extra minutes out of your players isn't it. I find i score a lot of late goals but often by that time I've had to sub my pair off to save them for the next game! Awesome work.

It’s annoying when you get those late goals and your boys are off the pitch! In the last couple of seasons with Mitro in that save he often came on in the 2nd half and would nab a goal or two when the defence was tired.

Seasons 6 and 7

In season 5 the lads got within 6 goals of 200 for the season as they made a huge dent in the DT total. If these next two seasons follow suit we will be within touching distance of the DT after only 7 seasons but it could be that seasons was just a fluke.

Season 6

This promised to be a long season as it ended with a World Cup but this gave plenty of opportunities to smash in loads of goals.

We didn’t play as many games as usual though as we crashed out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round to Chelsea although we won everything else on offer.

With the Euros won two years before I was hoping we could add the World Cup to the trophy cabinet as well.

We certainly looked good on the way to the final as everyone we faced were swept aside to set up a meeting with Brazil.

This was a bit closer but it was Foxy Jr who scored the winning goals to avenge 72 years of hurt.

The Lads

The guys had set a high standard the season before and they simply couldn’t live up to it this season as they scored 40 goals less than last year. Foxy Jr had the biggest drop, although injuries were a factor with only 52 club games played, having scored 89 for club and country the year before he “only” managed 62 although that keeps him on course for a 1k. Adams had a drop as well with 94 his final total.

I don’t thinking’s is a great worry as 156 goals is more than enough but it would have been nice to get near 200 again.

Season 7

Another 150+ goal season he could leave the boys one season away from the DT and that was the aim even if 200 seems a bit of a one off after last year.

We only lost one game all year but as with last season it was to Chelsea and it stopped us lifting a trophy as they beat us in the Community Shield. We did get revenge in the FA Cup final though.

Just the International League Finals this year and we retained the title by beating Spain.

Last season was a drop from the season before and worryingly this was another drop from last season and this time it was Adams who’s numbers dropped from 94 to 76 goals this season, of course we played less England matches but he also missed the final month of the season with an injury. Foxy Jr did better this year with 70 goals.

In total they scored 146 goals which again is perfectly acceptable for the purposes of the DT and the lads totals were good for there individual 1kc attempts but still another drop in numbers isn’t great and Foxy Jr in particular needs to keep getting 60+ goals a year if he wants to get that 1k.

Maybe the 196 goals season was a massive blip and 150 is much more a par score for these pair. What is positive is we only need 167 goals to hit the DT total so possibly we will do it in season 8 or maybe a couple of games into season 9 and then the focus can switch to those 1kc’s.

The potential for an epic finish is definitely there if I can get both players to a 1kc. Adams looks a shoe in for it tbh but Foxy Jr could go all the way to the wire as he needs 63 goals every season for the final 9 years to get there and although he is getting and beating that total it still feels like it will be tight to me.

@samhardy maybe I should change it to nearly all comments but in general I do appreciate all comments even ones from you.

Don’t know about the quickest as I expect when Brazil was in the game with the huge number of games in there season some one must have done it quicker. 8 or 8 and a bit seasons will be good though.

Season 8 and a Bit

I started season 8 needing 167 goals in order to complete the DT so I was hoping the lads could buck the trend of the last few seasons and get back to the 160+ goals a season spell that had. Either way it’s save to say that the DT was nearly done as even if they both suddenly became injury prone or one had a huge injury for a year they only need 19 goals a season between them to complete the DT.

It wasn’t if they do it but when and I was hoping as soon as possible.

Competitions

In the last couple of seasons we have seemed to play Chelsea a lot! Season 6 they knocked us out the FA Cup, last season they beat us in the Community Shield and this season we played them in no less than 4 cup competitions. They beat us in the Euro Super Cup as we played the reserves because the game schedules that cup in then international break now every season and a huge chunk of my squad play for England. They also knocked us out the FA cup again but we beat them in the Community Shield, the League Cup final and of course we won the league.

England had the Euros this season and we were looking to defend them.

Unlike previous tournaments we did lose a game to Poland but we still made and won the final.

Foxy Jr and Adams

Foxy Jr struggled this season for no obvious reason. He did have a couple of injuries along the way including a month straight after the Champions League final which ruled him out the entire Euros but he simply didn’t score many goals. This was both for club and country as he hit 41 club goals and 10 goals for England. His international tally would no doubt of been better if he hadn’t been injured though as he only played 9 games compared to Adams 15.

Adams on the other hand had a good season although his club goals total was only 68 compared with the 80 goals he was scoring a season just for Man City. He had an excellent time for England though as he banged in 24 goals for his country.

Foxy Jr: 51 goals

Adams: 92 goals

Total:143 goals

That means the DT total was 1176 goals and we needed just 24 to hit the magic 1200 mark and complete my first Double Trouble challenge.

A Bit of Season 9

The aim was to knock these 24 goals off as quick as possible in perhaps 8-10 games which we weren’t far off from although neither player started the season in prolific form.

By the October international break they had 23 between them and so it was an away day in Wales that gave us the chance to complete the DT and complete it we did in emphatic style.

It was my digital flesh and blood that got the 1200th goal after 2 minutes before another 4 were added to the total.

So the question is where does this save go now?

I have 7 and a bit seasons left to play until I retire and the DT is in the bag, Foxy Jr is 500 goals away from a 1kc and Adams 296 away. 

I have decided that I am going to call time on the DT and submit my score as 1204 for the challenge. It’s a shame in a way as another 8 seasons of 140 goals a year would mean we could smash the 2k goals barrier. What I really want though is the double 1kc’s from the two guys and Foxy Jr worries me at the moment as last season he was very poor and this season hasn’t started much better.

Simple maths tells me that he needs 63 goals a season for the remainder 8 season including the one I have started to hit the 1k...just. That is looking very tight at the moment based on current form. Adams on the other hand needs just 37 goals over those seasons and he will be done and let’s face it he can do that in his sleep.

So this is the plan.

In order to get both players to 1000 goals and hopefully more I am now making Foxy Jr my number 1 striker. He will start most games, probably 2 out of 3 games and then once he has hit a few goals or we get to around the 60-70 minute mark Adams will come on and vice versa on games he starts. In this way I hope I can keep both players happy but also getting the goals they need to hit those targets.

It also for the third time in this 20+ year save so far freshens it all up again as I have new targets to go for.

Season 9 and 10

The last update left this save in mid October of 2040 or season 9 of the challenge. Foxy Jr had smashed in the goal which had completed the DT before him and Adams added a few more to give me a total of 1204 goals for the leaderboard.

As I said in the last update that means it is now all about getting Foxy Jr and Adams to the 1k’s. Foxy Jr needs to average around 65 goals a season to get there and Adams needs around 42 goals a season so it’s very achievable. What I do need to do is make sure I don’t upset one or the other through lack of game time but also without compromising there goal totals. With that in mind Foxy Jr is my number 1 and he will start the most games from now on for both club and country with then Adams coming on once Foxy either has the goals he needs that game or after 60-70 minutes but he will also start every 3rd match.

Season 9

We continued our love hate relationship with Chelsea this season as we beat them in the Community Shield but they then knocked us out the FA Cup for the second season in a row. My reserves lost to Lyon in the Super Cup as the rest of my squad were with there international teams but we won the League Cup, League and CL as usual.

 The change to one up top seemed to suit both lads as they both exceeded the targets I set them. Having the England job helps massively though now as Foxy Jr had 65 club goals but he then added 18 England goals as well and had 83 in total whilst Adams hit 50 in the league and then just 4 for England but it’s more than enough. I also managed to keep both players happy with there game time which is a bonus.

Chelsea continued you piss me off in the FA Cup this season as again we drew them although this time in the final and they did us 2-0! We seem to beat them in any other competitions including a 4-0 win in the Community Shield but in the FA Cup they have beat us 3 seasons in a row now.

I love this format of World Cup as we get loads of games and some proper bad teams to play which really adds some goals.

At the beginning I said how many gaols the guys needed per season to complete the 1kc’s and we again exceeded those totals which is perfect as it brings the season totals needed down and means there is more leeway if one of them has a nasty injury or there attributes fall off a cliff in there final seasons.

Foxy Jr had his first 100 goal season although that includes England games as he scored 84 for Man City and then 20 for England. He now needs just over 54 goals a season for the final 6 seasons to hit the 1kc.

Adams again was happy to come off the bench and start very few games and he is quite the super sub. He hit 47 for club and 9 for country and is now 201 goals away from the 1kc which works out at just 33.5 goals a season.
