A hugely improved season mate. Great work by the boys.

Thank you, yes they were much more dangerous this season which bodes well for the future.

Cheers Foxy, yeah a much better season for the boys and team. We just need to get through the next few years whilst their fitness improves then hopefully get more goals.

Season Three

Good afternoon all,

After a horrid opening season where our boys stood still we had a better showing last year as our trio scored 80 goals between them. I’m still at the stage of trying to get my system and squad right to better supplement my boys and if we can keep the boys in the 70-100 goal range for the next two or three years I’ll be more than happy.

Let’s see how they performed this season.

Jan Thielmann

Not a great increase in attributes but I can see his physicals steadily increasing over the next few years.

0D8743B9-B22E-417C-9437-688CDE05C473.thumb.png.d932852e9d59286210af566ac1d8330d.png

How many goals did he score?

He knocked in 25 goals which is 3 short of last year's tally but he did suffer an injury layoff which meant he only played in 35 games so a decent return all things considered.

94693097-B8F2-44A8-AD23-F702216DEF61.thumb.png.081f3109708dd8936f67460d6ee671f4.png

Fabio Lorenzini

Fabio’s attributes have increased a bit and it looks as if he’s going to turn into a decent raw striker with not a lot between the ears.

2532429B-F903-4D52-9E46-16B5A9DCFFA7.thumb.png.69283ecd80333149758157ac95f415fb.png

How many goals did he score?

He scored 24 goals in 42 games and I’ll take that at this stage.

7AE9DBF5-6F52-4C2B-973A-28865D4F60E8.thumb.png.2e509fc8266bbfc92054c1bdacf112b7.png

Emincan Tekin

Steady increase in attributes and I’m starting to think that this lad might end up the best player out of my lovely trio.

840D8905-D26E-4A14-9742-CC7C1875904B.thumb.png.0161bc0e0268127823023db86a6afce2.png

How many goals did he score?

He scored 30 goals which is 1 less than last year and he played in more games as he featured in 40 but I suppose that shows his fitness is improving.

3E0F8A63-33EF-473A-B4BA-E3CFC5903C65.thumb.png.56dd0aa45db908842954eb3c5b4c604b.png

So the boys combined to score 79 goals this season and whist that’s 1 less than last year I’m happy enough as Jan the man did suffer an injury.

Now we’ll take a look at how the team got on starting with the transfers.

Transfers

We brought a few new faces in as I continued to try and build the squad.

Incomings

  • Ionut Radu (Goalkeeper) - He’ll hopefully make the number 1 position his own over the next few years.
  • Manuel Locatelli (Central Midfielder) - I wasn’t totally sold on this guy but needed another midfielder and took the plunge.
  • Didier Ndong (Central Midfielder) - I’ve used this lad before so I know what to expect as he’s a really reliable midfielder that won’t let you down.
  • Nikola Maras (Central Defender) - A big strong Serbian defender to add a bit of bite to the defence.
  • Vukasin Jovanovic (Central Defender) - Another Serbian centre back who will hopefully strengthen us.
  • A couple of youth graduates for the future.

Full list of all transfers below.

Team Performances

We blasted the league whilst only suffering three draws and amounting a monstrous 102 goal difference. The cups didn’t quite go to plan though as we lost out on the league cup in the semi final stage but to be fair it felt like a bit of a robbery. We won the other domestic cups but fell out of the Champions League at the first knockout stage again after failing to turn up to the home leg against Manchester City.

Supertaça

Champions League

Just like last season we fell at the first knockout stage but this time to Manchester City. We played well enough in the first leg to force a draw with an away goal which I thought would be enough to see us go through but we wilted in the second leg and went out.

This Season/Overall (Goals)

Jan Thielmann: 25/60

Fabio Lorenzini: 24/52

Emincan Tekin: 30/72

This Season Total: 79 goals

Triple Threat Total: 184/1500 goals

A similar return to last season which whilst slightly disappointing is still fine with me as we’ve got plenty of time to hit those 100+ goal seasons when our boys get into their early to mid twenties so I won’t be panicking yet.

Thanks for reading and all comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank you Rob, yeah the goals seem to be shared out fairly evenly with the guy in the centre getting slightly more I’d say but I try to rotate their positions every so often.

Thanks, yeah I’m happy enough with it at this stage as getting them onto the pitch for lots of minutes is proving difficult for fitness reasons.

Season Four

Here we are at season four of this triple threat challenge. My boys have produced ok numbers so far but we’ll be needing an improvement at some point and hopefully that’ll be this season.

Let’s see how they got on.

Jan Thielmann

His physicals are steadily increasing which is nice.

How many goals did he score?

He got 37 in 49 games which is his highest tally yet although he did go the whole season without suffering any injuries which kind of helped I feel.

Emincan Tekin

He hasn’t really improved too much attribute wise since last season and I’m not sure we’ll see much improvement from now on apart from maybe his physicals hopefully increasing.

How many goals did he score?

Emincan managed 33 goals in 39 games which is ok with me as he did suffer an injury.

Fabio Lorenzini

Fab also hasn’t improved much but if we can just get his stamina up a bit I’ll be happy.

How many goals did he score?

He knocked in 28 goals in 42 games which is nice. Like Tekin he also suffered an injury but still managed to play in the same number of games as last year so that shows his fitness is improving slightly.

Now let’s go through the transfers.

Transfers

I continued to work on our squad and tried to improve the support act for our trio.

Incomings

  • Presnel Kimpembe (Central Defender) - A top top defender came in to go straight into the first team.
  • Suat Serdar (Central Midfielder) - This is the first time I’ve ever used this guy so hopefully he’ll do a good job for us.
  • Raoul Bellanova (Right Wing Back) - We went big on a wing back to replace Mbabu who became an outcast.
  • Noussair Mazraoui (Right Wing Back) - Another wing back arrives and I’m familiar with this lad as I had him at Ajax on another career.
  • Felix Platte (Centre Forward) - A steady striker was brought in who should do a good job when my trio aren’t available.
  • Davie Selke (Centre Forward) - When I saw this guy come up on my search I knew I wanted to try him as I’d seen him do well for a few people on the forum.
  • Pedro Empis (Wing Back) - A back up wing back who can play either side but probably won’t feature much.
  • One youth graduate for the future.

All transfers including outgoings are listed below.

Now let’s see how the team got on.

Team Performances

We won the league winning every game but scored a few less goals than last year. The team won all of the domestic cup competitions but lost out to Arsenal in the Champions League final which annoyingly was the only loss in all competitions this season.

Champions League

We were beaten by Arsenal in the final in a game to forget. I started with our trio as I thought I might as well based on the fact that there’ll be no Club World Cup next year due to the World Cup being played during the season. Anyway we were dismantled in the first half and even though Jan the man got himself a goal I had simply had enough and brought on the big guns for the second half. One of the said players Davie Selke scored a brace to level the game up only for Arsenal to get a jammy winner with the last kick of the game so still no European success for this side!

Score

This Season/Overall (Goals)

Jan Thielmann: 37/97

Fabio Lorenzini: 28/80

Emincan Tekin: 33/105

This Season Total: 98 goals

Triple Threat Total: 282/1500 goals

So we got 98 goals for our trio this season which is a great improvement on the previous seasons and although it would’ve been nice to hit over 100 I can’t complain. Shame we couldn’t win the Champions League but I have a feeling if I’d gone with my back up strikers in the final from the start we’d probably have won.

Next season is the year where the World Cup is held during the season so I’m expecting it to be a tough campaign with games coming thick and fast but hopefully our boys will still score a decent amount of goals.

Thanks for reading and all comments are greatly appreciated.

Cheers Smoggy, yeah it’s a good way to look at it. I’m sure once they get into their early to mid twenties their fitness will improve which should allow them more minutes on the pitch.

The thing about triple threats for me is that it’s harder to get the game time right as usually on a 1k I’d be subbing the guy on 60-70 minutes if he’d scored some goals to keep him fresh but with three guys it’s difficult to do that all the time so you are forced to play them when they are jaded a lot more than I’d like anyway.

Season Five

As I mentioned during the last update this season is the year where the World Cup is held during the season which causes a lot of club teams to have a heavy fixture pile up both before and after so it’s safe to say I wasn’t really looking forward to this season.

Let’s see how it went starting with the club transfers.

Transfers

I continued to try and build the squad up in a bid to set us up nicely for when our boys get to their peak years.

Incomings

  • Vasilije Janijicic (Central Midfielder) - This guy is a steady midfielder who will hopefully produce when needed.
  • Evan N’Dicka (Central Defender) - I’ve used this lad before and he’s a decent ball playing defender.
  • Jérôme Donné (Left Wing Back) - A wing back that looks like he might turn into a decent player but I’m not totally sold on him at this stage.
  • Luca Plogmann (Goalkeeper) - We needed a half decent back up keeper and this guy was my choice.
  • We brought through a good few youth graduates at the beginning of season and some look like good prospects.

We let a good few players leave who were surplus to requirements including Didier Ndong which might please a certain moderator.

Full list below.

Team Performances

We went unbeaten in the league and scored exactly 100 goals so no problems there. The domestic cups were all won but the Champions League still proves elusive as we exited at the semi final stage.

A more detailed look below.

Spoiler

League

Just the five draws this year which is decent but we won all of our games last year albeit this was a different season with a heavy fixture pile up both before and after the World Cup so we’ll take this and move on.

Supertaça

Our trio combined to rip poor Vit. Guimarães apart with Em and Fabio getting a brace each and Jan the man opening the scoring in a 7-0 hammering.

League Cup

Tekin scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Braga but I can’t help but feel we missed a glorious chance to score a few goals if it weren’t for poor finishing.

Taça de Portugal

We met Braga again in the other cup final where we made rather hard work of it and it took a last minute goal from Thielmann to nick the win.

Champions League

We got to the semi final where Barcelona awaited us and managed a nice 2-0 victory in the home leg with two fairly late goals. The match was tight but getting the win without conceding an away goal gave me confidence we could go there and get the goal to hopefully kill the tie.

I was wrong as we lost 3-0 in another close game. The annoying thing is the winning goal was a last kick of the game job which was heartbreaking.

Fixtures

We had a good run but there were a few disappointing draws including a couple of 0-0’s which are not what you want to see on a goalscoring challenge.

The Terrifying Trio

Now let’s see how the trio got on during this fairly frustrating season.

Jan Thielmann

He has a nice looking set of physical attributes now and it looks like they are not finished developing and to be honest that’s all I want now as I think he’s got just enough in other areas to get the job done.

How many goals did he score?

He scored 30 goals in 52 games which is a drop off from last season but can’t be helped.

Emincan Tekin

Again Em’s physicals are rising and hopefully all three will get to green level over the next few years.

How many goals did he score?

He managed 30 goals in 46 games so considering the increase in games played we have to be slightly disappointed with that.

Fabio Lorenzini

Well he has blue level for stamina but I’m not convinced it’ll rise to 15 so the target for that is now 13 which will hopefully improve his game time.

How many goals did he score?

Just 23 goals scored in 45 games in a frustrating year. I was probably guilty of overplaying all three of my boys this season so something I can learn from.

Score

This Season/Overall (Goals)

Jan Thielmann: 30/127

Fabio Lorenzini: 23/103

Emincan Tekin: 30/135

This Season Total: 83 goals

Triple Threat Total: 365/1500 goals

Closing Thoughts

Horrible year this was which I kind of expected due to fixture congestion but I still hoped for 90 plus goals from my trio so not happy. Anyway it’s done now and we’ll go again next season where we’ll look to get our boys an improved return.

Thanks for reading and all comments are greatly appreciated.

Another good season imo and looking at the lads I’m sure 100 goals won’t be long 😀

Thank you, yes a good few 100 plus goal seasons is needed and I’m sure the boys are more than capable of it.

Thanks, yes the fact that they managed 98 goals last season shows they have it in them so I just need to get them to produce it every season.

Thank you, yes they’ve came a long way since the first season and there’s still a lot of time yet to get the bigger numbers.

I haven't hit the ground running in my new project, so it's a little reassuring to see and remember that it's like that at first. Still racking up some great numbers mate, building a good platform!

Cheers, yes I’ve found it does usually get easier as the save progresses as your squad improves and also the a.i usually gradually weakens the other teams. I’ve got time on my side on this one as they were so young when we started so as you say we’ve got a good platform going into their peak years.

I look forward to your next one😀

Still a good season mate, especially with the world cup in the way. I agree that causes a headache with fixtures and trying to manage playing time.

Cheers Smoggy, yeah I’m not going to panic or make any changes until I see how they perform next season.

I think the title should be changed from the “terrifying” trio to “the trio for opposition to be mildly concerned about” :P

Yes Sam they have made a slow start but similar happened on my DT and that turned into a fine career and I’ll crack this one at some point don’t you worry. I only hope it’s not too late by then 😂

Thanks anyway though for this comment as I can put it on the notice board before every game to fire my boys up.
