The Challenge

The challenge is an A-Z challenge and each season the member who’s turn it is will have to sign a goal scorer and assister who’s surnames (can be first name on tricky letters) begin with the letters for that season. So season 1 is the A and B season then season 2 C and D and so on....

When you have the save you may manage the club how you see fit and buy and sell whichever players you wish and your season score is striker goals + midfielder assists from the two players you sign.

Ok so let’s make a start shall we?

Season One

As I’m taking charge of the opening season I get to choose which club we are going to manage.

So who have I gone with?

Club

Tottenham Hotspur

We decided we wanted to manage a top English club with Liverpool, the two Manchester clubs and Spurs being the ideal candidates. I had the ultimate decision with playing the first season and originally I was going to be selfish and go with Liverpool but once I realised I was about three decades too late to be able to use the two John’s in Aldridge and Barnes as my player choices I scrapped it and went with Spurs.

Players Choices

A: Lautaro Acosta (Assists)

I signed him for just £3.5m and whilst he’s not fantastic I was intrigued by him as I can’t say I’ve ever came across him on the game. This could turn out to be a horrible decision but I kind of had to go cheap here as my next choice cost a fortune.

B: Andrea Belotti (Goals)

It took £66m to sign him from Torino which might sound really high but when you factor in the low cost of my assister it balances out not too bad. He’s an established player so I’m hoping he does well as I can’t be sure with having never used him before.

So that’s my player choices and now I’ll have to make a few decisions in terms of the squad as a few will have to go to make way for new signings as the budget is almost totally used with my duo.

Anyway, wish me luck and I should be back in a couple of days with my end of season update.

I'm taking over from @Woody, and this is probably my first challenge.

So, after 2 false starts (One with Mauro Icardi and Julian Brandt, and one with Isak and Insigne), here are my player choices (As shown above, I'm picking players with I and J)

Goals: Gabriel Jesus

Assists (a somewhat curious choice here, but I've gone with Andrei Ivan).

So, the tally to beat is 80 and it seems Gabriel Jesus is off to a nice start, but Pavon is taking the shine from Ivan. Won the community shield and the Super Cup (a nerve-wracking match).

(A side note: Jesus's aerial might come back to haunt me later, as most of the best forwards I've used have had 18+ aerial, and Ivan looks injury prone).

VIBE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE: SEASON 5 RESULTS

First, two things happened that had never happened before (at least never on any save that I had done):

1. Went the whole season UNBEATEN.

2 (although, I had done this before, with Sunderland, in League 2, I had never done this too).

So, how did my chosen players do?

Goals: Gabriel Jesus

Here's how he looked like at the beginning: 

And now at the end: 

His stats haven't changed much, but his player value has increased immensely. 

He scored a total of 41 goals in 43 games. He missed some games due to the fact that he couldn't finish many of these games, and the existence of the World Cup jammmed all these games into a smaller than usual time frame, and the absence of the Club World Cup rid him of some easy goals. He also had a one month injury. Nevertheless, it's a good return. 

Assists: Andrei Ivan

Here's how he looked like at the beginning:

Much like Jesus, he hasn't had much of an improvement, but how he performed is the main issue.

He bagged some awards, and he got a respectable 20 assists in 44 games.

He could've gotten more, were it not for two things:

1. I realize a little too late, like halfway into his games tally, that playing him out of position was the best way to get assists from him. So, I played him as an AP, and he performed admirably. 

2. Pavon is an absolute beast. I noticed that @Woody mentioned that he didn't perform quite as expected, but here, he over performed. 20 goals and 20 assists in 38 games is nothing short of phenomenal, especially with the fact that I played him as a right winger for most of the season. He absolutely deserved the Player of the Season Award. 

 

LEAGUE:

As had been said before, we won the league, and went undefeated.

CUP COMPETITIONS (by the way, what's Crystal Palace doing in so many finals?):

NOTABLE MATCHES: 

Aside from the Barcelona Super Cup match, only one match made me sit on edge the whole season.

Both games put me on edge the entire duration.

Jason Sancho is coming in on a free transfer, but his extreme individualism might cost you some points, so it's up to you to decide what to do with him.Thank you all for the opportunity to participate in this challenge, and to use the EME for the first time on 2019's version of FMM. I'm a bit averse to the engine, but I've found it interesting enough to give it a try with Hamburger SV.

Hi all, so my letters are K and L and there is a decent striker (you may have heard of him!) by the name of Harry Kane who is available. He is at juventus and just about to turn 30.

However, how do people feel about me using him seeing as he featured in the save the first season? Would it be preferred I choose somebody different?

I do have an alternative K lined up so I’m easy either way. 

@IanI don’t think there’s any rules against it I was just questioning the morality of it. If it is preferred not to use players who have previously been at the club then that’s no problem, I didn’t want to press ahead with Kane and upset anyone.

Season 6 Player Reveal

Players K + L.

First of all i wanted to say what a fantastic squad the previous players have built up, it's like a who's who of superstars! I started my search for a K and L and two players for each position immediately took my eye.

Player K (goals)

So this one is no surprise as i mentioned it above, however i was also very tempted by Michael Kouame who is at Lazio. He is an Ivory Coast international and looks a fantastic striker. The temptation to bring Harry Kane back to the club was too good an opportunity to miss.

It took £129m to get our man but money is aplenty and some players will no doubt move on so i took the plunge. He is about to turn 30 so should be at the peak of his powers.

Player L (assists)

This was a choice between two top quality players - Thomas Lemar or Diego Lainez. I decided to go for Lainez because i am currently using him in my Napoli save and know how effective he can be and i also wanted a genuine wide man whereas Lemar's preferred position was central. I had to pay his £82m release clause from Villarreal but again that was no problem.

So they are our two players for season 6, i will crack on with the save and come back with a season review once finished.

I would say he's sooo good if you train him as Winger maybe even better than Dilrosun

Season 6 Results

Letters K + L

I started playing this save and literally couldn't put it down, the players at my disposal and the way the team was performing made it very enjoyable.

First off a quick run through transfers;

Incoming aside from our main guys a couple of wing backs in Tierney and Peres, then Gravenberch and Sancho who @Dejihad done a deal for.

I kept outgoings to a minimum in the summer but come the winter transfer window there was a lot of discontent in the camp through lack of playing time so i moved some players on.

I always do a search for bosmans come the turn of the year and have lined up these deals below and will leave it up to @Kaneganwhether he confirms them. Paqueta is obviously a star name and the others are youngsters who should bolster the squad for the coming seasons.

Next up the competitions, we managed to win everything apart from the FA Cup where we went out early to Liverpool i'm afraid. It was in that January hectic period and they did a number on us. Apart from that all went well and i must thank @Dejifor getting us into the World Club Cup as Kane went goal crazy in that.

Aside for the World Club Cup some other notable games where King Kane racked up the goals;

Worth a mention this hat trick of disallowed goals.

Here's how our guys looked come the end of the season;

Harry was also on fire for England, scoring 11 in 6 games, stats-wise the only attribute to increase was his strength.

You may also notice he wage has decreased, which i put down to one of FMM's quirks/bugs i'm afraid. He came to me at the end of the season for a new contract and i duly offered him one at the rate set of £240k which he happily signed. He was on £450k!

Here's how our guys performed.  We played 63 games this season, Kane missed 12 games and Lainez 14 due to various injuries, tiredness and international duty for Lainez.

Kane scored a monster 93 goals and if it wasn't for him getting injured on international duty in March would've surely broke 100.

Lainez a good return of 43 assists. I focused passing down the left hand side to try and get him the ball as much as poss and it seemed to work pretty well.

This was Kane's injury;

Few other stats here to see how our squad shaped up;

I play with IWB's and was impressed with Alphonso Davies on the left. Henrichs had a bad injury but Adjapong was a decent deputy. Pavon and Sancho were quiet i think because i focused on that left hand side so much and i tended to rotate Lo Celso and Havertz behind Kane.

In summary, using one of the best strikers in the game was a big advantage i know but as i said before the temptation to bring him back to Spurs and use him was too much. I can't recall using him before apart from as England manager to be honest and it was nice to get that opportunity and to see him score so many goals.

I have now passed the save back to @Foxyand it is @Kaneganup next so look forward to seeing how the next season goes.

Season 7 Player Reveal

Firstly, it will be a real tough act to even come close to what @smoggy90 has achieved. And so, we need a world class player to even think of coming close to last season's results.

Player M - Goals

The guys have built an unbelievable squad so, kudos to them. In no surprise, i pick:

Had to give Kai Havertz in exchange just to sign this man which may piss off many. Sorry guys but just had to sign him.

 

Player N - Assists

I have used him previously in other saves and he has turned quite good so i sign him as my assist man.
