Tactics Solid tactic with beautiful football 2-3-3-2

Undefeated with AC Milan in the Serie A with this tactic. The philosophy behind this tactic is pretty simple. I myself am a big fan of the shadowstriker role. My starting point was therefore to realize a tactic in which this role works well and actually adds something. My goal was also to develop a tactic that shows technical and controlling football. What is also useful in this tactic ist that when you have the right players with the right skills, you can easily switch positions with the 5 attacking players without affecting the tactic negatively. They all need technical skills such as good passing, creativity, shooting, desisions & movement.

The formation:
G: Don't really need an explanation. Of course, a keeper with good reflexes is always handy. But in this tactic the defense cleans up a lot for you.
CD: The defensive block. Use here preferably 2 players with good aerial, tackling, positioning, decisions and strength. The standard skills of a central defender.
IWB: The inverted wingbacks are very important. They ensure that this tactic works and provide the power needed in midfield. You need complete wingbacks with preferably the skills of midfielders. To name a number of skills that are important: dribbling, passing, tackling, creativity, movement, decisions, positioning, pace, stamina and strength.
DLP: You need a player with both the skills of a ball winning midfielder and a deep lying playmaker. This player supports the defense, takes the ball away from the opponent, but also provides power in midfield and passes to the front. Important skills: aerial, tackling, passing, creativity, movement, decisions, positioning, strength.
AP: Instead of wingers or inside forwards, I use advanced playmakers here. These players are often technically more skilled and less often go for their own success. They provide many assists and important passes.
SS: A shadow striker must score a lot, but must also be a hard worker. Movement, decisions, passing, creativity, shooting and pace are important skills. In the coming seasons I try to make Paquetá a real shadow striker. I bought Barkley as a backup. He is doing very well in that role. Personally, I also find him very underestimated. He is very multifunctional if you know
how to use him.
DLF: The 2 deep lying forwards at the front are pointers for the shadow striker and advanced playmakers. Their role is supportive, but requires complete and technical skills. I also tried it with complete forwards but that went less. Simply because this role often goes for personal
success. But because I also use shoot on sight, these 2 also score very often, but they also provide a lot of assists.

Shape: Attacking. Occasionally I still switch between control and attacking. Attacking has proven to be the most effective yet. I have the width on narrow. With all short and fast passes, the players reach each other better. Tempo on normal. I don't want them to make a choice too fleetingly, but I don't want them to linger. Creative freedom on expressive. I want the creativity of the players to stand out well.
Defence: Very standard. Defensive line on balanced. Closing down on own half. Not all over because I want the attacking players to deal with attacks. Tackling on commited, sometimes causes unnecessary cards, but I'm not worried about that. Make sure you have a wide selection of players and remove 1 of the 2 DLFs if you get red.
Attack: Shoot on sight ensures that the players shoot and often score when the opportunity is available. Run at defense provides a more effective shadow striker and brings the advanced forwards closer to the goal in possession of the ball.
Passing style: Short passing fits this tactic.
Passing focus: The focus needs to be in the center. The ball must come to the 2 DLFs and eventually the shadow striker.
Goalkeeper Distribution: Mixed. Constructive power does not really lie with the defense. So varied distrubution is best.

I am curious about your experiences with this tactic! Personally, I think it's the best I've made so far and the most solid. When my season is over I will of course share the results.

Cheers and have a nice day!

Not a bad tactics I must say. Won the premiership on the last day with Wolves in my first season. Although I lost early in the cups.

Now I'm going to try it in the championship to see if it works for lower teams

So far this has been very good for my Lazio save. Had to change the fwds to P & CF as I felt chances were going begging. Still need another class striker to pick up some slack when immobile is having a off game.

Nice! You can try using Advanced playmakers as the DLF strikers. Using the DLF roles is part of the strength of this tactic. The SS will score more and the AP's are more involved. Lazio has great players for this tactic. Savic as SS, Correa (Backup SS or AP) Alberto can play as DLF, SS and AP. Good players for inverted wingback also and great high potential central defenders.

I should focus on buying great AP's such as Havertz or Felix. Because they can play on every attacking role (AP, SS and DLF)

Will try but money isn't brilliant and the team have poor decision making which could be a big factor

Finished my 1st season. 2nd in serie A, won the Italian cup and lost 5-3 aet to Chelsea in the euro cup. Few key injuries at the end cost me the treble but massively overacheived just need to keep star players from leaving now.

Testing tactics with a superb team in 2022 maybe wont be the most realistic outcome :)

Try it with Milan in mid season, not work well for me, but i played three matches

Three matches is not enough, especially in mid season. You need the right players with the right skills, and enough time for your squad to get used to the tactic.

Won the league easily undefeated. Unfortunately kicked out of the cup by Real Madrid.

What do you suggest to prevent to plug up the goals I'm hemorrhaging?

Screenshot_20190830-203556_FM 2019 Mobile.jpg

Sometimes is helps me to switch to control when i dont want to risk more goals against. But as a result, you create less opporturnities yourself. I personally dont mind because mostly i score more than the opponent.

I seem to go a couple goals up then concede till I end up in a high scoring game.

Ok, maybe you should try switch to control when you are a couple goals up. And always look after condition of players. I always take important players off when they are below 75%. Extra energy in the last minutes (especially the forwards) can win the match for you.
