Thanks guys. Yeah I really wasn't expecting to get so many goals this season but I got lucky with internationals where I played Luxembourg, Albania, Hungary & Austria twice each in qualifying and played Cameroon, Paraguay, Ireland & USA in the World Cup before I drew any of the bigger nations.

Season 9 Review

Transfers

Not much exciting to report here. I signed Thibaut Courtois’ regen, sold some back-ups and that’s about it.

Season Summary

4th clean sweep and unbeaten season in a row with my highest total of goals in the league coming this season with 163.

Holland

There seemed to be very few international games this season. We had Nations League qualifiers and then the start of Euro 2028 qualifying but no tournament at the end of the season except for the climax of the Nations League. The final of the Nations League was a hell of a match....

Zirkzee

Another stunning season from Zirkzee hitting a personal best 74 club goals. A further 12 international goals gave him a grand total of 86.

Boadu

Back into the 40’s for Boadu this season with 41 club goals and 7 international.

Chong

I actually thought this was going to be Chong’s best season yet as he was flying up until Christmas, scoring a goal a game and outscoring Boadu. However, he then picked up a 6 week injury and he never really got going again once he was fit which was a shame. Still a decent return though with 26 club goals and 3 international. He also won World Player of the year again!

Overall

It was always going to be a difficult task to repeat last season’s 196 goal haul and so it proved. The reduced number of internationals and lack of matches vs smaller nations meant we only scored 22 international goals compared to 53 from last season. For club goals we were only 2 short of last season’s total which was really pleasing and gave us a grand total of 163 which keeps us ticking along nicely. Zirkzee was the star of the show again, scoring more than the other two combined this season.

Season 10 Review

Season Summary

For the 5th time, we ended the league season on 112 points with 37 wins and 1 draw. That one draw is becoming more and more frustrating every season! We won everything else which means we are now unbeaten in all comps for the last 5 seasons.

Holland

We qualified for Euro 2028 very comfortably with a 100% record. We got a favourable draw for the tournament with Slovenia, Switzerland and Northern Ireland in our group. We won all 3 games but unfortunately, after scoring a hatrick in the 1st match, Boadu picked up an injury that would rule him out of the rest of the tournament. Thankfully, in my squad I had Arjen Robben’s regen to take Boadu’s place and he helped us get to the final where we would face Spain. After going 2-0 down within 8 minutes I brought on a player called Donny Damen, who I think is Huntelaar’s regen, and he was the hero in a great comeback.

Despite not scoring in the final, Zirkzee had a great tournament winning best player and top scorer. The guy who was second top scorer is Robben’s regen.

Zirkzee

So after I found myself starting to think about a 1k with Zirkzee, typically he had his worst season for quite some time. There was definitely something not quite right with him this season with a big drop in goals from last season. He still scored 50 club goals and 15 international but I was expecting a lot more. He also missed 8 penalties this season when he is normally so reliable.

Boadu

Boadu had a really good season with 40 club goals and 4 international. It could have been even better but for 3 separate month long injuries. I do wonder how many more goals he would have had if I had made him the central striker of the 3 instead of Zirkzee.

Chong

Pretty standard season from Chong with 29 club and 6 international goals. He also picked up World Player of the Year for the 2nd year running.

Overall

Zirkzee’s drop in goals had a big impact with my total of 144 this season coming in 19 less than the previous season. It was a strange season to be honest, I didn’t change my tactic at all but the goals seemed to be shared out among my team a lot more. Still, it took another big chunk out of the target, leaving 296 to go. I’m hoping that I can knock this off within the next 2 seasons with a bit of luck.

Season 11 Review

Season Summary

After several seasons of just falling short of a 100% league season, I finally managed it!

Holland

Just the Nations League to play for this season. Made it to the final where we were beaten on penalties by France after an epic match.

Zirkzee

A better return from Zirkzee this season with 63 club goals and 13 international. Missed penalties were still a source of frustration but unfortunately both Boadu & Chong are useless at penalties so Zirkzee stays on them.

Boadu

Another good showing from Boadu with 42 club goals and 11 international.

Chong

Injury struck Chong this season with a torn hamstring keeping him out for 26 matches. This was the first injury lay off longer than a month that any of my trio have had throughout this career so I can’t complain. He did manage 15 goals in 34 games which is around about his usual scoring rate. He also added a further 9 international goals.

Overall

Zirkzee’s return to something like his usual form was offset by Chong’s injury. Therefore we scored a similar number of club goals to last season. We scored a few more international goals this season mainly thanks to an 11-1 win over Mali at the end of the season. The target is now down to 143, which should be hopefully be achievable next season.

Season 12 Review

So we ended Season 11 needing 143 more goals to complete the TT challenge. Would we be able to get it over the line in Season 12?

The season started with the Confederations Cup with matches against New Zealand & Japan in particular allowing us to boost our tally. We beat Italy in the final with Zirkzee & Boadu both on target. Zirkzee finished on 9 goals for the tournament with Boadu on 4 and 1 for Chong. So 14 goals towards the target before the league season had even started.

The league season started really well, with Boadu on fire. After 10 matches, my trio had racked up 27 goals between them. I started to think I would have the TT finished well before the end of the season.

But then disaster struck. Chong picked up an injury that forced him to miss 7 matches and Zirkzee soon followed with a 3 match injury lay off. Then when Zirkzee came back from injury I got the dreaded “wants a new challenge” message. His form dipped considerably. Thankfully he was still banging in the goals for Holland in World Cup Qualifiers. This meant that at the halfway point of the season we had 57 club goals and 30 international.

So this left us needing 56 more goals in the 2nd half of the season and given Zirkzee’s poor form and less international games, it was not going to be easy. Luckily, Boadu was probably having his best season and he was consistently scoring, bringing the target slowly within reach. With 4 games left in the season, we needed just one more goal. The next game was vs Juventus in the Italian Cup Final.

In the 15th minute, Chong whipped in a delightful cross.

Boadu leapt like a salmon at the back post.

And the TT challenge was complete!

Zirkzee

As mentioned above, Zirkzee’s form for Milan this season was pretty dreadful but was saved by the 25 goals he scored for Holland. Added to his 36 club goals gave him a total of 61.

Boadu

Boadu had a fantastic season with a personal best club total of 48 goals plus 10 international. He also ended Zirkzee’s 10 year dominance of the Serie A top goalscorer award.

Chong

Chong actually got pretty close to Zirkzee in terms of club goals this season with 32. Only 4 international goals though.

Season Summary

We were beaten twice in the league this season. The first defeat, away at newly promoted Lecce of all teams, was our first defeat for 7 years and meant our unbeaten run was ended at 387 matches!

Overall

A difficult season but we got there in the end with 155 goals this season taking the overall total to 1,512. I managed to get Zirkzee to sign a new 5 year contract before the end of the season so I think I will now try and get him to 1k. 283 goals to go.

Season 13 Review

With the TT now completed, this was my first season concentrating on just Zirkzee with the aim of getting him to 1k. His form was pretty poor last season but with a new contract signed and a change in formation, I was hopeful I could get him back to his best.

Boadu & Chong

With me trying to change to a single striker tactic this season, it meant Boadu & Chong were shifted around quite a bit before I eventually settled on a formation with them both playing out wide. Despite this they both had really good seasons contributing 54 goals between them.

The Main Man

I spent the first half of the season experimenting with different formations and tactics and Zirkzee probably suffered as a result with only 22 goals from the first 28 matches. However, after Christmas, once I finally had a system I was happy with, Zirkzee recaptured his best form, scoring 42 in 25 taking his club total to 64 for the season. He also continued to be prolific for Holland with a further 21 goals added. So 85 in total for the season which was his best for 4 years.

Summary

Zirkzee’s 85 goals this season took his total to 802 leaving less than 200 now to complete the 1k. He has 4 years left on his contract and is still only 30 so I am hopeful I can get it over the line.

We made it to the final of the Euros. God knows how we didn’t win it!

Boadu & Chong

I rotated Boadu & Chong a lot more this season so they only played 43 matches each. They still managed a decent amount of goals with Chong surprisingly outscoring Boadu. Chong seems a lot better suited to a wide attacking role rather than through the middle.

The Main Man

After deciding on a system I was happy with in the 2nd half of last season I felt hopeful that Zirkzee was going to have a really good season and that proved to be the case. I was very lucky in that he didn’t miss a single game this season as he smashed in 88 goals in 60 games. He added a further 14 international goals to take his tally to 102 for the season. He also won World Player of the Year for the 2nd time - 7 years after he last won it.

Other News

I forgot to mention last season that my son has now made it into my squad. He turned up on the very same day that Nicolo Barella retired and sure enough, he appears to be a clone of Barella (who was a fantastic player for me by the way).

Overall

Zirkzee’s 102 goals this season means he now has less than 100 to go to complete the 1k. I was also pleased that my Dutch trio have now scored more than 1,500 club goals between them meaning I would have completed the TT even without getting the Holland job.

Cheers mate 🙂 Yeah, I loved Barella. He was my captain and ran my midfield for 11 years. Do you use Luca Pellegrini in your Zaniolo career? He has been immense for me and is by far the best full back/wing back I've used this year.

Ya, Barella was signed in the second season and he has been brilliant for me right from the start. Signed Luca 2 seasons back and he has also been great. There are lot of Italian talents out there whom we can cherry pick. Mandragora is another one who had been partnering Barella as my 2 BBM's in the midfield.

We lost the Nations League final to Italy but we were still going strong in the Confederations Cup when the season ended.

Boadu & Chong

Another great season for Boadu, scoring 29 times from the left wing. There was a noticeable decline in performances from Chong who is now 33 but he still managed 14 goals.

The Main Man

Zirkzee came into the season needing 96 goals to complete the 1k and he came extremely close to pulling it off. 79 club goals & 12 international left him just 5 short!

Other News

My favourite player throughout this career has been Luca Pellegrini despite a weird situation at the end of last season. I talked him out of retirement, only for him to refuse to sign a new contract and join Stoke on a free transfer! I immediately bought him straight back even though I had to pay £23m for a 34 year old!

Anyway he actually only managed to play a further 5 games for me before he got a serious injury and was eventually forced to retire.

Throughout this career, he got an amazing 432 assists from left back for me (it says 433 in the screenshot but 1 assist was before I signed him). What a player.

Overall

So just 5 goals required to complete Zirkzee’s 1kc and with a favourable draw in the Confed Cup, I’m confident that he’ll get those 5 goals pretty quickly.

Season 16 Review

We ended Season 15 with Zirkzee needing just 5 more goals to complete his 1k and we started Season 16 with the semi final of the Confederations Cup vs USA. Zirkzee promptly scored a hatrick, meaning he needed just 2 more going into the final against Spain...

And that was it, the 1k completed 2 games into the new season!

Onto the regular season and there was a noticeable drop in Zirkzee’s attributes throughout the season, especially his pace which resulted in a reduced haul this season. 61 goals is still pretty good for a 33 year old though plus he added another 18 international goals.

As a team, we only lost one game all season. It just happened to be the Champions League final, ending my winning streak at 10 years.

@Kanegan, please can you add my 10 consecutive wins to the Champions Streak leaderboard?

The season ended with the 2034 World Cup and a favourable draw saw us win the tournament quite comfortably. It was nice to see my Dutch trio roll back the years in the final. With a combined age of 100, it might be the last time all 3 of them play in a World Cup final together.

Zirkzee had a great tournament winning best player and the golden boot.

Overall, Zirkzee now has 1,074 goals and my trio’s combined total has now moved past 2k. The next target will be to get Zirkzee onto the 200 international goals leaderboard. After that, a 1k for Boadu or a 1.5k for Zirkzee are probably out of reach now but I might try and keep going until my trio all retire.
