For my staff usually I'll take fitness, attacking, defending and motivational/goalkeeping and my manager will use general

If I'm doing challenges I'll use 2 attacking, fitness and motivational with attacking for my manager

Each coach has a slight benefit on the players attributes depending on their specialisation. I don’t think it’s a massive benefit but I’m sure there is one and you can use that and double or even treble up to multiply the effect. As an example on my goalscoring challenges I go for me attacking with another two attacking and two fitness coaches at the beginning but when my goalscorer fully develops at say 29 or 30 I’ll switch to one attacking coach and three fitness ones as well as my attacking. I do this as I think the extra fitness coach really helps preserve the physical attributes of the players which I find really helps when the players age. I’ve noticed when I switch to three fitness coaches a load of my players max out on their pace, stamina and strength and I can’t fully confirm at this stage whether it’s due to the extra fitness coaches but it sure feels like it probably is.

Playing normally I’d probably go one attacking, one defending, one fitness and whatever you fancy for the other two but that’s just my opinion on it.

I used to go with one Attacking, one Defending, one Fitness and one Youth, with myself as Motivational because that just seemed logical to me.

However now that I understand things a little better, I tend to go with 1 Attacking, 2 Fitness and 1 Motivational. All coaches can give some sort of benefit, but I found that Fitness coaches actually give special increases to the Physical attribute, which I covered here:

The more Fitness coaches, the more special Physical boosts!! Yay! Then I can concentrate a player's training on the other attributes.

I'm not 100% sure the exact effect of the other coaches, except for Motivational, who occasionally improve a player's Teamwork (but only once every couple of years, it's not fast) as well as occasionally improving other attributes. When I am using regens, they often come back with terrible Teamwork, so I like to have one coach and myself on Motivational to hopefully slowly improve this.

That said, in the last couple of saves, I've included a GK coach instead of the Motivational one, because I have a lot of trouble training goalies... Not sure if I will stick with that, or ditch them for Motivational later...

Yes this is exactly what I’ve observed as well. Look at these three young regens after two or three years of using three fitness coaches.

Two of the lads are only 20 and have nearly maxed out on their physicals with the 18 year olds rapidly rising as well. I know we are a long way into the save with top facilities but these increases for their ages are enough to convince me.

I always go for 1 Fitness, 1 Defending, 1 Attacking and my Assistant as General with myself as Attacking. Later on in the save, I change Assistant to Fitness so I have 2 Fitness coaches.

That reply was ages ago. I don’t even use that setup anymore. Usually would go for 2 fitness, 1 attacking and a general. Use myself as motivational. There’s no specific role for assistant. I just use whoever is the assistant at the club. If I were to change one, I’d just pick whoever at the top 😂

I used to go for intensive. Normal seems a lot better for me these days. Development won’t be as quickly but definitely reduce the injuries.

Umm that’s the fun part. I don’t. It’s more like instinct and feels. I just look at a player and think like “hmm.. this guy looks like he’d be good for my team.”
