I've just noticed that this career is close to 2.5k views which including the OP works out at over 350 views per update. Considering this is just a “standard” kind of save and we are at the end of the game cycle I’m well pleased with this so I just want to thank everyone who has read any of this career and especially those who have commented as well 😀

Very pleasant read, Fox. Kidderminster brings back good memories. With these sort of careers it's always fun to see if the next team is a "familiar face", especially with lesser managed clubs. KIU!

Thanks, as for the leaderboard I’m going to keep playing this until I’ve had enough and if that puts me top of the board then great but if I get bored I’m not going to force myself to play just for top spot.

Season 7

Last season I spent £30m on getting Brentford back into the Premier League and of course the obvious place to go after that is to drop 5 leagues and move to a club in a market town in Northamptonshire.

I want to get promotions from both the Conference North and South and it was Brackley Town that offered me the chance to complete the South division first.

Brackley Town Fact File

• Founded: 1890
• Conference North/South is the highest level they have ever played but they made the playoffs twice.
• Won the FA Trophy in 2018 beating Bromley on penalties in the final.
• Play at the 3500 capacity St James Park

I was disappointed to find that Brackley had no former Oxford players in the squad as they are one of the clubs that players we release tend to end up at but maybe 7 seasons in any that were there had already gone.

Was happy to find this fella in the squad though.

 

Transfers

My big money signing was £4K on a Regen called Zehn Waterfall although the big bargain was Mame Diallo who joined from a team in France for nowt.

League Performance

Just the 42 games at this level and it felt like a quick season compared to 46 in higher leagues and more cup games.

We really dominated this season with even our defence looking solid. We lost 4 games but that can happen as the squad isn’t out of this world and in another season we may have lost less but drawn more.

The main thing was we won the league.

Top Performers

Despite the two decent players I showed you earlier it was two loanees who were top scorer and top assister. Unusually my top assister was a wide man as well and not a CM.

Diallo was only one goal behind in the scoring charts so he was still zero money well spent.

That means I now have just the Conference North to get promoted from so that will be my aim next season if a job in that league is available and then if I achieve that I will decide if I want to carry on or take a break from the game till FMM20.

Just caught up on the last few seasons and you are smashing it mate, enjoy the fact that you are getting a team promoted to the PL and then dropping 5 divisions to a completely different challenge. IE. from spending £30m to spending peanuts.

I’m guessing Blyth Spartans will probably be in the Conference North, they were the first team I used on last years game. Although it’s a good few seasons in so they may have managed promotion.

I would have loved it to be the Spartans but alas not. You are in the right part of the country though.

Season 8

In the last seven seasons I have managed to get promotions in all the English divisions from the Championship down to National League South but I still had one more league to win a promotion in which was the National League North. I was able to get myself a very good job for that level though which was going to make life much easier.

Gateshead FC Fact File

• Founded in 1977.
• Have never played higher than the National League.
• Made the FA Cup third round in 2010-11 and 2017-18
• Play at the Gateshead International Stadium which has a capacity of 11,800

Thank you to @samhardy for taking this picture for me at the Gateshead v Gloucester game on Saturday.

Gatehead hadn’t long been in the National League and there finances were very healthy so I was very happy to get this job. The squad was decent but that didn’t stop me doing my usual rebuild as much as anything because I enjoy it.

I managed to reunite with a couple of familiar faces in Mike Fondop and Shamir Mullings who had smashed the goals in for me in the National League 6 seasons ago and who I was certain would do the same for me a league below.

Competitions

With the league looking a foregone conclusion by Christmas I was able to put some emphasis into a cup competition this year as I went on a bit of a run in the Trophy which took me to the semi finals but National League Dagenham & Redbridge was a step too far in the end.

Macclesfield Town

As you may have seen in the league table screenshot Macclesfield have sunk down to this level and could only finish 8th. This meant we played them home and away and we took all 6 points.

Player Performance

Fondop and Mullings rolled back the years just as I hoped and got a combined 65 goals between them with Mullings getting 38 and Fondop 27. My top assister was a loanee midfielder from Birmingham.

When I saw Fondop and Mullings on the transfer list I was determined to get them so it was a nice bonus that I got them for free albeit with a 50% sell on clause but that won’t effect me.
