Tactics Newcastle 3rd in premier league 5-2-2-1

This is my First season in premier league with a struggling Newcastle United. Very poor in all areas pretty much. I got to the fa cup final and came 3rd in the premier league and losing only 7 games.

My biggest achievement to date on this game I will continue this save and see what I can do next season read below..

Guide To making this tactic WORK!

1. If there team is better in my case most teams where. I always played on counter.

2 .Listen to your assistant meaning for example such a player isnt confident you well get a result. (Drop them) such a player is looking forward to the game. If there looking forward to it choose them over the players that want to play!

3 if the opposite team is playing an (with the aim of striking a balance between attack and defence) go on counter. If you notice they change to defence go to counter.

4 if you play a team that likes counter attack play on balanced.

5. Intensive training schedule for entire team.

6. Use players that suit the positions.

Yes I converted almiron to inside forward however he didn't assist much or chip in with goals. I'm into my second season so I'll post when its finished.

So heres how the season is going so far a few things to note I sold almiron he was not contributing what So ever no assists or key passes Sold him also butland. Brought in Fraser Forster to mentor freddy woodman. And hes now my new number one. Heres how it is so far. Also I picked my game vs a strong liverpool line up.

Well guys season 2 finished and apart from selling a few players which I will also list definitely a very strong tactic I will test on a bigger team see if it works just as well. Here are the results of season 2!

Thank you I wont lie it was very stressful but I hope it was worth it. I am trying this with my liverpool save see how effective it is with a powerful team I think that's about it tho for my Newcastle save achieved what I wanted to do bring the title home lol

i had a similar idea with this but instead of wide wbs in the left and right dm spot, i drop back the wbs to the actual fb spot to make it a REAL 5 at the back. Also making the middle cb a libero to act as dm.

I haven't tried it yet but i will try it on an English lower league club like Tonbridge Angels FC in Vanarama South League.

Funny i got 3rd with them first season too.

Used a far different tactic too.

Using this tactic with wolves works pretty good, beat Tottenham away now I'm to play home VS Everton but the thing is even against weaker teams the best shape seems to be the counter, 3 times on pre season I used balanced against weaker teams I draw all of them but in counter works perfect, great tactic so many tactics to try and not enough time.

The most important thing to note is pre match what your assistant says. So in your situation the assistant might say for example.. cutrone is resigned to play or doesn't think you will get result. And he also may say Neto is really looking forward to this match. Choose Neto stats do not matter. Raul Jimenez may not be much use in this formation as hes slower than a snail. But makes up in other areas. I'm looking forward to seeing some screenshots.

OH, OK I'm starting to get it, I will post some screenshots probably tomorrow I don't have much time to play till now works like awesome, and yeah may sell Jimenez I sold ruben Neves just because arsenal and Tottenham offer 108 millions for him I didn't want to but that's a lot of money, I bought rafa from Benfica and salvio from boca and a promising player to play when Moutinho is tired or injured and Mario Rui for the WB, but I will post later some results and the team I'm using then you can see and tell me your opinion. Also a side not I hope this helps I've found a counter solution that worked for me. 

So for example CPU is using Attack>Counter is what you want.

Counter>defensive is what you want.

Overload>is a tricky one. If your wolves and facing a team like Sheffield United whose got a weaker team they will go overload last 20 mins or so if your winning. Stay on counter.

However when I was against real Madrid with Newcastle I knew if I stayed on counter they would score. I'll post a screenshot of the defensive tactic for grinding out a win against a powerhouse team.

Did you go contain all game or just when you where winning,? I'm new in fmm but I kind feel when we play defensive we lose, I liked your tactic because it's counter I like this style of play and it worked very well for you and for as well so far but still in the beginning of the season. I choosed wolves because they kinda play with a formation like that in real life, 352,532 so I thought with some new players here and there I wouldn't need to chance many players as the team they have are really good.

Ok so heres what is do if your playing arsenal and your winning 1-0 in the 75th minute. The computer will go overload. And aubameyang and lacazette are lethal in front of goal. If you stay on counter chances are you will concede. So I'd use the above defence and you will grind out the win. And NO I use the counter most of the time unless I feel I need to change to attack/overload/balanced.

Ok i see there are some mechanics that i have to learn by playing.is there any chance that if i train jimenez to be a poacher Will he bem efective even if os not his position? Sorry to ask you so many questions but i like to learn from experienced people about the game,thanks😁

So,here some screenshots,my team,the few games i played and the stats against Tottenham.

Im playing with Moutinho as a CM but i usually use him as a AP. And dendoncker as CM but i was injury last game so i had to change.its on portuguese but you get the idea.something you dont understand very well ask me please

I've started a new game save with brentford in the championship the chairman has tasked me to achieve mid table. This is a new tactic I am trying out. When the season is done I will post a new thread. Early signs are promising.

What would you recommend when the cpu is playing control, seem to really struggle to get results against it

Again in depends on which team your playing against mate. I struggled against west ham with my Newcastle save so I went on balanced. Once you get that first goal they rarely stay on control. But try balanced or defence when opponent is using control.

Well roughly at half way stage in season with brentford. Pretty much ran away with the league.
