Career Scratch Goes Crazy: 2KC✔️ + 1KC❌ + Assists 1KC✔️ [Done]

Update - Season 18

We've been going at this for a long time now and honestly - I'm starting to look forward to the next career.

But this one is not yet done and we still have some things to play for, with Unuvar's 2KC being the main focus now. Let's see how this season went.

 

Transfers

Not much coming in, but we had to let go of a few squad members due to the log jam caused by developing youngsters:

The names won't mean anything to you as they are all regens, but it was hard to let go of Scully and Devine, two of the very few remaining Scots at the club.

Valery had been a promising French youngster who had turned into a truly world class midfielder - but he scored too much. Sound familiar? I'd missed it, but in hindsight, he must have been Pogba's regen. Once I realised that, he was out the door - I've never had any luck with his regens, they always shoot too much.

 

Club Results

We won everything again this year (I actually want to lose something to break up this monotony):

We won the International League again, beating France 1-0:

Injuries

Koita stayed injury free this year, but Unuvar had two (2 weeks and 10 days) and Vignato had two as well (3 weeks and 10 days):

Decline

• Unuvar (33 yo) continued to decline (-2 for Stamina, Decisions, Dribbling; -1 for Heading, Shooting, Movement, Pace, Strength), but is still a decent forward.

• Koita (37 yo) is ready to move to an Amateur club so he can sign up for @BatiGoal's team. He has more Yellow than Blue now and the Reds equal the few remaining Greens (Heading, Technique and Leadership).

• Vignato (36 yo) is hanging in there compared to last year, despite the injuries (-1 Pace, Stamina, Creativity Decisions, but holding steady at 16 for Crossing and Dribbling). Worth mentioning he had another "rolling back the years" event this year.

Contracts

All three lads plan to retire when their contracts expire, but while Unuvar has 3 years left, and Koita has 2, Vignato only has next season. So, when this season was over, I asked Vignato to reconsider his plan to retire and he said Yes:

Yay! However, when I offered him a new contract, he wasn't interested:

Boo! So now I have to wait and see if he is interested in signing a new contract near the end of the season (like Koita did a few years back). I'm worried at his age he might just decide to retire again and I may have wasted the reconsider. Time will tell, I guess, and I'm unlikely to play on anyway.

 

Unuvar 2KC

Unuvar scored 83 goals from 52 games:

At the ITN level, he started the season on 27 (+256) goals and scored 14 goals, ending the season on 41:

That gave him the total of 97 goals this season, the first time he's been below 100 since season 4, but a great result in the circumstances.

 

Koita 1KC

Koita scored 12 goals from 59 games:

 

Vignato Assists 1KC

Vignato provided 50 assists from 45 games:

Slowing down, but still great.

The Future

• Unuvar only has 29 goals to go, so should polish that off next year.

• Koita obviously has no chance of the 1KC, but is now sitting on 986 games for Celtic (1014 - 28 before he joined), so should pass that early in the new season.

• Vignato is hanging in there, but is unlikely to make it to 1.5K, mainly because I think next season is likely the last... But even if I kept going, it would probably take 4 or 5 years at least and there's no guarantee I get him to go that long.

So... Let's do this one more time...

Brilliant @Scratch, a long hard challenge to kill some time, but I guess a very worthy one, you must be happy with those numbers, they are simply unbelievable, even now at 33 Unuvar is still banging in 83 goals, some 20 - 30 year old players can't do that!!! I take my hat off to you Sir!!

Yeah, he's doing even better than I expected, as is Vignato. I'd basically replicated this whole career up to the age of 28 or so last year (in my Oz Golden Gen save) so I was confident with that part, but was worried about how well they'd score near the end. Turns out it's better than I expected.

That said, of course this is the SPL... Would be harder in some other leagues. So I guess not totally a surprise either.

Thanks mate, yeah they are still doing better than I expected. Hope to knock it off soon, then I am going to try to talk myself into carrying on until the end of the season. I have about 3 other careers I want to start, so will be hard to keep going. I'm really motivated by building the squad, but those days are long gone in this save and I'm excited by these other ideas which will take me back to something challenging...

Nice, he's happy about that and has started working on his signing dialogue with you. He has 8 more games to play, then I'm going to shift him to an amateur club as a part exchange and then you can buy him. That's how this works, isn't it? 🤣

Only an 11 month injury could stop Unuvar reaching the 2K mark this season... Hmm, why did I choose "11 month injury"? That's oddly specific, isn't it?

Club Results

We won everything again this year, but look at those league results! 4 draws. Only 84 goals. That's what you get when you play 2 players who are declining. The 5-nils turn to 1-nils... There are moments when it clicks though, like the Betfred Cup final, where Vignato supplied 5 and Unuvar scored 5.

Not going to itemise the attribute loss this time. Here they are in all their glory at the end of the season:

Still a bit of life in Unuvar, but not so much in the other two - and by the end of the World Cup, Vignato looked significantly worse than that, down 2 in Pace and Stamina and 1 in Crossing, Dribbling. Movement etc.

 

Unuvar 2KC

Unuvar scored 81 goals from 57 games, a great return, but the ratio slipping:

At the ITN level, he started the season on 41 (+256) goals and scored 21 goals, ending the season on 62:

That gave him the total of 102 goals this season, taking him back above the 100 mark, thanks mostly to it being a World Cup year.

 

Koita 1KC

Koita scored 11 goals from 57 games:

 

Vignato Assists 1KC

Vignato slowed right down, providing 29 assists from 42 games:

First time since his very first season that he's averaged less than 1 assist per game, so it is quite a slow down.

Wrap Up

So there you have it: Unuvar's 2KC achieved, Vignato's 1KC achieved, but Koita's 1KC was a bust (he did play 1043 games for Celtic, which is impressive in it's own right).

Vignato finally signed a new 5 year contract a day after his current one expired. I could possibly play on until he's 42, but at 20 assists a year tops, he'd still fall short of 1.5K. Unuvar could obviously play on for some time yet, although the serious deterioration is starting. I could probably get him another 200 goals over the next 3 years, but that'd be it.

So there are still things to play for, but honestly, this save is done for me and I hear other ones calling. It's been fun, but I want to go somewhere new, where I can pull apart the squad and build it into something awesome. Right now I'm just making incremental adjustments and it's not fun any more.

Thanks mate - the funny thing is I was fairly confident on that part based on my abandoned OZ Golden Generation FMM19 one and the fact that my tactic kept working. The crazy part was adding in the extra 1KC and sure enough, that WAS crazy! 🤣

I have 3 careers in mind now: a generic start at the bottom, work my way up career; a 1KC in Ireland (because I want it lower level); or a 1KC in Beijing (unfinished business here, leaning towards this).

None of them will be as crazy as this one, because I could only get such high numbers because of the Aerial bug. It's gone now, so it'll be much harder to hit these sort of numbers. I do have a back up of the first FMM20 version, so I could go back to that until they hit 20! 😄 Nah, I won't do that... In fact I just upgraded to the latest version (was on the last version before the winter update).

Of course, what I should do is hold off any career and get back to work on my scouting app. I've done nothing with it for ages now, because it's too hard to work on it when doing an official career. I normally test it on my phone, but then it's too easy to accidentally use it on my career, so I just stopped working on it. I can test it on my computer, but it's slow. Maybe I can test it on a second phone (it's time for me to update now, so could do this). We'll see though...
