Tactics 4-3-2-1 "ONE WAY OR ANOTHER" tactic

Hello,

This is my first time posting here, so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

I wanted to share here a tactic that I've been using since fm2012 (PC). I recreated a similar one on mobile in fmm2018 and it has been working wonders even in the 2020 version. I call it One Way Or Another. (because it always finds a way to score).

Here is the tactic.

Ofcourse every tactic requires certain players to fit to the tactic. Here are some key attributes to consider (other than the obvious ones).

  • GK (pace)
  • DC (pace and aerial)
  • WB (crossing, dribbling, pace)
  • FB (tackling, passing)
  • BBM (shooting)
  • AP (shooting)
  • DLP (tackling)
  • W (teamwork, right foot natural)
  • IF (shooting, right foot natural)
  • P (aerial, pace)

I forgot to take screenshots of my previous seasons, but here's some of my current season and overall history. (I have used this tactic only, since starting the save). This is my 4th season.

Kane and Isak are my Poachers, Fati and Paulinho play Inside Forward.

On topic and away from the music 😂 Where else did you test this tactic? It looks good with a great team.

I have tried with Brighton, got 2nd in the league first season, then won it and won CL second season.

this is the best tactic on fmm20 so far, i have tried various tactics and this is the most consistent tactic ... good job bro👏👍 ... i use Arsenal for this tactics in first season and i got a premiere league winner, and euro cup, i lost in the liga cup, and fa cup because i use holiday in Games, all that I experienced was lost only when I was on holiday, but when I played the match what happened was I was unbeatable, later if I had the chance to upload the screen shot

Thank you very much for trying. I am glad it's working out well for you.

Here's my save with Bayern using the same tactic.

Doesn’t work to great with Leicester I haven’t bought any new players and currently facing a battle to stay in the job

Did you make sure you have players who match the given attributes for specific positions? It's not a magic tactic, you need players to fit the tactic for it work.

Awesome tactic. Good job mate! Just purchase the game and trying it with my first season with Dortmund now, It's February and I've only lost 1 match so far (when i decided to actually chuck the reserves in for a cup game)!

And yes, as long as you have players with given attributes to fit the tactic, it'll work like a charm.

This looks interesting. I'm going to try this with my team and I'll let you know. Does it have to be one full back on wingbacks setting and the other on fullback settings? Does it have to be one winger and one inside forward? In terms of the stats that the players for the tactic, 13+ alright? Thanks

Yes it's like that, because most players are right footed, I choose to put IF on the left. The footedness is very important. Now since we have IF on the left, it leaves a lot of space on the left wing, so we exploit the space using a WB. But on the right we have a traditional winger for crossing purpose, that's why we don't need a WB there and opt for an FB for additional defensive cover.

If you have left footed players, you can invert the tactic, so you put the left footed winger on the left and change left back to FB, if you do this, your IF should be on the right and he should be left footed too (increases shooting chance cutting inside). And add the supporting WB for the right. You should also invert the midfield if you do that, because BBM and IF on the same side would mean both of them occupying the same area during the attack. The IF needs more space so put the BBM on the winger side.

Hope you understood those above, don't hesitate to ask me if you want more info.

Also for the stats, if its a top team I would recommend 15+ of the mentioned stats. But you can always train them on the attributes they are lacking for the tactic. For mid and low teams I guess 13+ would be good.

Do you think changing the striker to a deep lying forward or complete forward will work?

No, the only two roles that work for this tactic is AF and P. But maybe a different type of player could do well as CF/TM, I haven't tried. But DLF is a no. DLF would interfere with AP, BBM and IF.

ever since I did what you have suggested, by putting the BBM on the same side as the winger, the BBM is playing so much better. So what is the difference tactically between a poacher and AF anyway?Thank you

I don't really know how to explain it. It's pretty similar, but mostly I've noticed that poachers are always trying lurk around the last defender looking for through balls and/or rebounce from goalie, always looking for scoring opportunities. AF however brings others into play as well as taking chances for himself. Personally I prefer poacher because this tactic generates a lot of through balls and rebounce.

I have tried with BWM instead of DLP too. It works, but not as good as DLP. Depends on the players available though. Hope everything's going well for your team.

I really like the setup to this. Currently using it on a save where I got the Wolves job for 2020/21. Started the save as Wolfsburg Manager (using a different tactic not this one) but they fired me after 33 games. Went on a horrific run of form, dropping me from 3rd to 5th. Wolves then came calling at the end of that season so having a crack with this tactic and it's alright so far. In 7th after 19 games. I think with a few player additions it will be a great tactic.
