Season 12

I knew this would happen sooner or later. Lots of injuries this season. Still got a decent return of goals/game but was a shame to lose him for 15 or so matches. 
 

 

PSG:

Lost a couple of CL group games (need a better back up striker!) and the CL final all when Esposito was out. 
 

Players:

Will start being the next generation through this season  a few players are starting to go downhill.

A couple of injuries again but decent haul. 
 

PSG:

Won everything but lost several games as new players are bedding in. Brought some youngsters through and they were a little inconsistent. My GK also spent the whole season wanting to leave so was slacking.

Season 14

Awesome start to the season hitting over 50 before Jan (my benchmark) but slow second half. Had some of the CWC which brought in a few more goals after the season so still a decent haul. 
 

Stats are starting to dip however...

 

PSG:

 

Players:

Another transition season with youngsters getting up to speed and old players not up to what they used to be but confident for the next year now. 
 

Me:

A few more losses unfortunately as was a rebuilding year but still good stats (ignoring Domestic and Transfer ha!)

I just got him to sign a new 5 year deal so 1500 should be 3-4 seasons (max) if he drops off a bit but I’ll see how long I can keep him playing. 

 

End of Season 14:

Goals: 85

Total: 1232/1500

To go: 268

Haven’t played Chinese league before. Might have to give it a go later on. Not sure they could afford the £150m I had to pay for him though!

Season 15

I thought this was going to be the season that broke him as he started off pretty poorly but then he had a great second half of the season. Probably the CWC tired him out in pre season. 
 

His assists have gone up in recent years but looking at it it’s shots he’s now missing and other players are tapping in. His killer edge is deteriorating.

 

PSG:

The team just isn’t as good as it used to be as youngsters are less reliable for my my balls out formation and with Esposito scoring less that means my team scores less so more draws and losses. We’re a one man team on purpose though.

What did he look like maxed? Same as me? Thinking I may have got a 5* version vs a 4.5* potential or something hence the extra cost. Can’t see potential. 
 

I also have 50% sell on with that deal too. They wouldn’t take a penny less!

Yeah it could be the potential but could also just be a random thing as @Foxy and I had similar with a player in our head to head. We both went for the same player in Dest a few years into our saves and Ajax were fine with me and it was a straight forward deal of around 35 odd million I think. Anyway, he had a lot more trouble and they took him to the cleaners for over 100m I think. There wasn’t much difference in the two player on our saves so guess I just got lucky although he won that season so maybe not 😂

Regardless, you’ve done a great job here so well done and good luck in hitting the 1.5k.

But no  when I ask him to reconsider, he declines and decides to retire at the end of the season instead!

If it was last years game I’d be almost certain you’d reach the target but it’s not so we’ll just have to see. I’m still confident looking at it from the outside which is always much easier but the total will be great anyway and the highest yet this year I think so something to be proud of.

Season 16

This looked to be his final season after the post above. And what a way to go out...

 

It would a shame to lose him when he’s still so good but going out with 4 goals in the CL final and coming back from 3-0 down is one hell of an exit. 
 

The team performed well winning the lot (ignoring an early cup exit), said their goodbyes and looked to a future without Esposito leading the line for the first time in 16 years. 
 

His buddy on the right wing laying on 47 goals for him in their final season together. It was a fitting end to a wonderful career. 
 

End of Season 16:

Goals: 74

Total: 1385/1500

To go: 115

 

 

But wait. What’s this?!

 

A hat trick in the first game of the next season? He’s still here!! Looks like he’s seeing out his contract after all. 
 

It still says retiring at end of season but it must mean his contract. 
 

The saga continues!

Last year it meant the end of his contract but would still say at end of the season on his happiness section so provided you get onto the next season then it looks like nothing has changed and you’re in a good place. Good work.

Getting closer and closer to the target now and he’s still looking alright.

Great season from the old boy to pass 1500 goals in under 1000 games.

And there we have it. 1500 club only goals. Phew. He’s got a couple more years on his contract still so could probably add to this total but I’ll park it here.
