Career Canada, world cup champions?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone
Today I will be starting a career with Toronto fc and Canada. The aim of this save is to win the world cup and be successful with Toronto using only Canadian players. So what’s going to happen, will Canada win the world cup, will Toronto develop world class Canadian talent, will I get sacked in the first season due to the Canadian only player rule. Let’s find out.

2019 pre season

I began pre season knowing the squad would need a massive rebuild with only 4 first team players being Canadian. A massive  £43.5 million spent bringing in new players was mainly funded by selling off all non Canadian players. But with such a large number of players coming in I worry that they will struggle to gel and we will have a really poor start to the season.

Let’s look at some players i feel will be key this season.

GK- Maxime Crepeau
Not the best goalkeeper around but being only 24 he still has time to improve, his age and the fact that borjan isnt much better but in his thirties made me think hes the best option

DC- Doneli Henry
The 25 year old centre back is by far the best defender at the club and in the Canadian national team, hopefully he can strengthen a admittedly weak defence. For the first season atleast he will captian both club and county. Although this will be reviewed at the end of the season

MC- Stephen eustaquio
The 22 year old centre mid will play as a advanced playmaker and I am hoping he will be able to his passing and creativity to unlock defences and set the strikers/ wingers up. Hes creativity will need work tho.

ST- Lucas cavallini
The 26 year old target man will be my main goal threat, and is the best looking striker in the team, hopefully he can deliver.

Season objectives

I really dont know how this season will turn out, but due to this being a transitional season the main aims are
1 finish between 12th and 18th
2 finish as the best placed Canadian team

Amway Canadian championship
I feel like this is definitely the best chance of silver the team has over the next few years, so at least a final appearance this season.

The Canadian national team
The main aim this season is to play well in our friendly matches and to not get relegated in the north American national league

2019 season review

The season started out ok, with 2 wins from our first 4 games ( both against Montreal). The first international break screwed me as it only left me with 7 players for the game against Atlanta so a 1-0 loss is not a bad result. In the first 17 games of the season we won 7 and drew 6 sitting pretty high in the league.

I had hope of a playoff spot and a top 10 finish, oh how I was wrong, only picking up 17 points in our last 17 games including a very poor run of 7 losses in a row, and only winning 2 of the last 10 games. However injures to key players and lack of quality replacements have contributed to this, but this will need improvement next season as another run like that at the start of the season may see me loose my job. In the end we finished 9th in the eastern conference only 4 points off the playoffs and 15th in the league, above Montreal and Vancouver so both season objectives achieved. Although we really should have at least reached the playoffs and that will be the goal next season

Amway Canadian championship
Beaten in the final by Montreal is hard to take and the score doesnt help, revenge next season is a must and bringing the trophy to Toronto is a great way to do that, easy semi finals so no surprises there. Next seasons aim is to win the trophy.

The national team

Well, a poor start in our first 5 friendly losing 1 and drawing 4, however a lot of player and tactical experimentation is the main reason for this, and also our inability to hold on to a lead.

The north American national league however provided our first and second win and Canada boss aswell as a routine loss to USA. Still yet to win as friendly (maybe the players cant be bothered with them) but a fantastic away win against the USA rounds of the the 2019 season, only goal difference stopped us advancing to the next round but qualification for the gold cup is a fantastic result and a great way finish my first season.

National ranking
Start of season 79th
End of season 78th

Let’s take a look at the 4 players I felt would be key at the start of the season
Maxime crepeau
His stats have all risen and he ended the season conceding 47 in 36 games. Not to bad considering he as a weak defence protecting him, hopefully he will continue his development next season. Because I'm a idiot I forgot to take a screenshot of his stats, but growth of 1 point per goalkeeping stat apart from handling witch changed to green

Doneli Henry
Definitely improved since the start of the season and definitely a key player in both the club and national side, hopefully I can find a decent partner for him and he can continue he development.

Stephen eustaquio
Another player to develop well although I was expecting better that a single goal and 4 assists from the £16 million signing, hopefully that will improve next season.

Lucas cavallini
Another player who has developed well in his first season. Scoring 11 and assisting 3 is not as prolific as I’d hoped but hopefully this will improve next season.

Youth intake
A couple of promising players there, investment in the youth infrastructure is key to success In this save hopefully allowing some world class players to come threw.

That’s all for this update. Let me know if this is a career your interested in and hopefully season 2 will be out In the next couple of days.
