Help FMM20 Regens-Can anyone help?

Hi,

I have some questions on regens if anyone can help?

-Am I correct that regens do not always come back in the same position and can be ramdom, ie Gareth Bale retires and could be a defender?

-Do regens always restart in the country they are from ie.. If Gareth Bale retires when at Real Madrid he will always appear as a new player on a free transfer or at a Welsh League club?

-I have noticed some older players retire literally when the game starts, Danny Collins 39 and Andrew Crofts 36 are on frees when the game starts if you do not sign them in the first week or so they just disappear do regens get created at that point in the game as new players or to put it another way if a player retires at anytime say mid season is a regen created at that point or does it only happen when the game processes a new season?

Sorry for all the questions, it would be great if anyone could help.

Potentially, but usually they’ll be identical positions

They usually regen in their national league, so an English player will regen in the English leagues. As for your example of Bale, despite being welsh, he’ll 99% of the time regen in England due to the fact that your very very unlikely to get a player of his calibre at a welsh club

I’m pretty certain there’s a window for regens appearing, and I’m tempted to say it’s around October from experience.

Hope that helps slightly :)

So, the big change this year is that although a player's main position normally stays the same, the secondary positions change. That makes it much harder to spot them than in previous versions when the positions only changed occasionally. Their nationality and feet normally stay the same.

You can see some egs of what happens this year here:

That said, even in previous versions you'd get the occasional player who'd come back very different (different nationality and positions or looks the same but their PA went elsewhere) . Bale seems to be one who does that sometimes (but not all the time).

As for when they come back... It depends on their Nationality. If you are playing in England and a Brazilian retires, they will normally come back at some point in the next 6 months (often right away). But when an Englishman retires they go into the queue to come back through the youth system and that is normally at least a year (ie the following year), but I once had a player come back 3 years after he retired... So don't hold your breath for players with the same Nationality as the leagues you've got loaded...

My guess regarding this regen stuff is that in the early days SI copy-pasted so to speak retired players under a new ID, in order to maintain a healthy DB balance of players in terms of positions and skill level.

This makes said players very easy to detect and therefore the game way too easy as well (or unrealistic? are we allowed to use that word) since we know there's a big PA attached to it. So not knowing who's who kinda brings more "realism" (I've said it again) to the game as well as the need for scouts. High debatable the latter tho 😃

Personally I hope they make it impossible to recognize regens early on, which isn't hard to do, as basically what people do is getting high PA players for no money.

Agree with all of this. I use the heck out of regens in challenges, as it's allowed, but I'd be quite happy if they became totally unrecognisable.

Would be good if regens PA are randomised so that we will not buy the same regens over and over again. Maybe Scott Carson could be the best GK in history 😂

On this theme I got an odd regen recently (odd to me, but maybe it's usual)

 - first name is just "M"

 - appeared at 24 years old, it seems

 - funnily enough, has done the reverse of Bale's journey, going from Spurs to Southampton

Nice...

Interesting with the name. LoL, maybe it's his nickname - like the South American's sometimes get (eg Neymar). You used to be able to see their full names on the Personal screen, but they somehow forgot that in FMM20... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or maybe his parents just really like the name M (could be James Bond fans)? 🤣

As for the age, that's definitely possible. I think 25 is the oldest a regen comes back. That's sort of rarish though. I've had Messi come back at around 24/25 (in FMM19) and he never became as good as the original, I think because he started development too late and then slowed down before he got near his PA. A bit of a waste really...

Yeah I agree. In FMM19 regens we’re so easy to find you could pick up any world class player after they retire and then it’s just a waiting game. I prefer that 20 makes you have to hunt, Scout and a still use gut feeling as to if they are who you think they are.

FMM20 in general seems that you have to put a lot more effort into developing youth players and giving them enough game time or they simply don’t get near their potential. I like that also as you can’t just have a reserve team full of world class players maturing and then going straight into first team. I’ve ruined many a young players future by giving up on him 😂

Yeah, I have a De Bruyne regen who came back at 24 and never reached full potential as he needs to play every game to get his little 1 or 2% increases.
