Tactics O'Leary's Leeds 1999/2000 legend tactic

The Leeds team's legendary team under the direction of david O'Leary in the 1999-2000 season, and I want to bring back the aggressive football that pleases the eye. We can do this sequence together, guys. I'm starting trials. And I want to share the results with you as soon as possible. Please share your ideas with me.

Probably the arrangement and style of play of the club at that time. But when I find the right players, will I try to work.

As a Leeds fan I can tell you that side ran at defenders a lot.

Lee Bowyer was more a box to box midfielder than winger.

Viduka wasn't there in 99-00 it was Michael Bridges up front. Ferdinand and Dacourt also weren't there that season.

Team was usually;

GK Martyn

WB Kelly/Mills

BPD Woodgate/Duberry

CD Radebe

WB Harte

RW Bakke

BBM Bowyer

CM Batty/McPhail (Batty could be argued as a BWM but in my opinion he did more than that for the team)

LW Kewell/Wilcox

AF Bridges

DF Smith

 

I do like the idea though so I might have a go myself with a tactic for this. After a quick play around with my current Leeds side, these I'd say would be the player roles for the 99-00 side and I've updated who played in them on the player list there. Not looked at team instructions yet as that needs more thought. Wing backs were probably more full backs now I think about it.

I'm testing some variations to see if I can get something working. I have one that's had some early success but not played many games with it yet.

Left winger pushed up as Kewell tended to play higher up and scored a few doing it. Full backs now instead of wingbacks. DLF seems to work better with a poacher in the front 2.

I keep changing them around so no point in posting them yet, until I get something workable.

As an example I've had to move the left winger back again as teams are getting in behind there too easily.

Got that many saves running I'm honestly not sure. It's not that far in years wise so probably yes.
