Vanja - The "Myth" In China

Season 5

We start the season with some great news, Vanja decided to stay put and finally agrees to sign a new contract which will keep him in China for at least 5 more years.

3 players brought in last season was sold, including Zinchenko, Fati and Abel Ruiz. Sweet profit though.

As for incoming business, we have Majer coming in to replace Zinchenko as AMC, Sarr and Skov Olsen in to replace Bebe and Januzaj, Everton to replace Fati and finally Edouard to replace Abel Ruiz. All the players brought in are famous wonderkids which I haven't quite used before.

With a few more local players exit after their contract, we now have a squad of 0 Chinese player.

Jiangsu Suning almost defeated us in the FA Super Cup, after a very late equalizer, but we still won it through penalties.

Easy win in AFC CL as always.

No surprises in the FA Cup with Vanja scoring a brace in the final.

And my best season yet in FMM, won all 30 matches, scoring 102 goals and only conceding 15 goals which might have been my best defensive record ever.

The Brazillian had made a huge impact after arriving in Beijing, scoring 20 goals and 11 assists in 39 matches.

Andreas Skov Olsen

Another wonderkid brought in this season that had some great performance, providing 20 assists.

Odsonne Edouard

He only joined mid-season, but still put in a great goal-scoring performance with 19 goals in 19 games.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

His best defensive performance yet, conceding only 30 goals while providing 4 assists. But can he be strong as well offensively?

18 for Beijing, 1 for Serbia, a total of 19 goals this season. That will brings his tally up to 101 goals, passing the 100 goals mark, and 28 goals left for him to equalize Ceni's record.

A slight drop in goals scored compared to last season's 21, but still managed to pass the 100 goals mark, and maintain an average of 20 goals per season. Still 28 goals left to complete the challenge, which doesn't seem likely to be achieved in the next season, hopefully 2 more seasons shall do. Thanks for reading and comments are appreciated.

Serbia

A disappointing run in the Euro's Qualifiers, 3rd in the group phase, and knocked out by Denmark in the Playoffs. Still no WC or Euros for Serbia.

2 departures this season, Leo Ostigard and Angel Gomes. Angel Gomes had been a useful backup for the team.

Biggest signing here must be Thilo Kehrer replacing Ostigard, and Heung-Min Son after being transfer listed in Spurs. Got Paulo Maldini's son Daniel Maldini for free as well.

Didn't win all the league games like last season, but still remain unbeaten in the league, while conceding only 12 goals, my best defensive record yet, which was achieved by a 2 defenders formation (no wing-backs either).

Odsonne Edouard

Fit into the team well after joining mid-season last year, providing 43 goals in 46 appearances.

Lovro Majer

Lovro Majer was very good in taking corners, providing 40 assists in 42 games for the team.

Pierre-Emile Hojberg

He's probably not as good now as in the previous versions while he's still at Bayern (still remember buying him in almost every save a few versions ago), but still too good for CSL, with 23 assists from midfield.

Daniel Maldini

Grandson of Cesare Maldini, and son of Paulo Maldini, Daniel Maldini fit in well after joining mid-season, turn out a very good winger.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Another good season as a goalkeeper, conceding only 21 and providing 6 assists.

14 goals for Beijing, and 1 for Serbia, only 15 goals for Vanja this season, his worst goal tally. That will bring his goal tally up to 116, only 13 left to complete the Ceni Challenge, should be achieved next season.

Not the best season for Vanja in scoring this season, but was his best season in terms of goals conceded and assists. Welcome to the 7th season in my journey in trying to score at least 129 goals with a goalkeeper, this may be the season we hit the target without any surprises.

First off, we got a new stadium in Beijing, the "Beijing Palace".

A lot of key players leaving China this season, including Hojbjerg, Everton, Skov Olsen, Edouard and Sarr.

The players I purchase to replace the outgoings are Karamoko Dembele to replace Skov Olsen, Gabriel Jesus who ended up in Aston Villa after some disappointing season in Man City, Trevoh Chalobah, and most importantly Mohamed Salah for only 12.75m.

Probably one of the biggest achievement in this career yet, the FIFA Club World Cup champion after defeating Man City through penalties with Vanja scoring.

Another cleansweep of trophies, unbeaten in the league, more goals scored and 3 more goals conceded compared to last season.

Key Players

Gabriel Jesus

Jeses ended up as a flop in Man City but had his career revived in China, scoring 41 goals in 42 appearances.

Mohamed Salah

He's already in his thirties but China is still too easy for the Egyptian, 22 goals + 23 assists in 39 appearances.

Lovro Majer

Fewer assists for the Croatian this season, but more goals scored.

Daniel Maldini

I kinda like Daniel because of his family links, but he didn't have the best season.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic

Finally the main man, with more goals conceded than last season, and 5 assists. But what's important is his goals... only 13 more goals needed to complete the challenge.

That's it, 21 goals scored this season, and a total of 137 goals scored in his career in 7 seasons. The Rogerio Ceni challenge is now completed, but that's not the end yet, at the age of 28, he's still very young as a goalkeeper, and can play for at least 10 more years. But the remaining goals won't be scored in China ...

A new challenge ahead for me and Vanja, to Spain and Barcelona we go! Time for Vanja to prove that he can score outside of China.

I won't post season updates from now on, and will only post updates when he reach the next milestones. I have me eyes set on 150 next, which could be easily achieved as we are only 13 goals away from that. Then, I will try to go for 200, or even 250. How many goals do you think Vanja can end up with? Vanja's Road To 150

As mentioned before, I will do updates when Vanja meet the next few milestones, with 150 being the closest target. So I'm now with Barcelona, and the first deal here must be bringing Vanja in.

Not going to show transfers business as most of the players are regens now, but here's one real player who deserved to get the mention.

He's so young that I thought he's a regen, but was actually a real player who's signed by Barca last year and is currently playing for Las Palmas. We still don't know whether he can be a success in real life, but in game, he's the new Messi of my Barcelona.

Here's his stats in my first 2 seasons in Barcelona, 19 goals + 22 assists in the first season (2025/26) and 16 goals + 30 assists in my 2nd season here (2026/27). He's playing as an AMC taking the corners, thus the higher assists.

Anyway, this challenge is all about the goalkeeper, here's how Vanja developed in his first 2 years at Barca.

His value increased a lot since joining Barca, and reached 90+ million at some point. Still good in free kicks and penalties, and is also a world-class goalkeeper now.

A lot of goals conceded anyway, 35 in the first season and 73 in his second, but got more assists in the 2nd season.

I'm appointed as Barca's manager in January, so Vanja only played the 2nd half of the season.

His first complete season in Barcelona, which he shows the world that he can also score in Spain.

He scored so many goals in the league this season, even made into the Top 4 goalscorer. He actually had a chance to be the top scorer, just missing too many penalties in the last few league games.

7 + 20 goals scored in the 2 seasons, brings his tally up to 164.

Barca was 8th when I joined them but I managed to bring them up to 4th, enough to qualify for UCL next season.

We won the league, as well as the other 3 trophies in the 2nd season here, completing a Quadruple.

 

So Vanja had proved that he can also score in Spain with 20 goals scored in the 2nd season here, bringing his tally up to 164 goals in a total of 450 games played, passing 150 goals. My next target will be 200 goals, which may be achieved in the next 2 seasons if he maintained his goal scoring rate. Thanks for reading, and comments are appreciated. 😀
