CHOOSING THE CLUB

VSK Aarhus are the smallest Danish club you can manage in Football Manager 2020 to begin. The club starts with basic youth & 1st team facilities along with a stadium which only holds 1,000 fans! Although I did not know it, this save will be the toughest test on Football Manager.

STADIUM AND FACILITIES

As Discussed previously, I arrived at VSK Aarhus to poor/basic youth & 1st team Facilities along with a small 1,000 seater Stadium. In my 3 seasons so far at the club and due to low funds, this has not improved too much. You can see we now have just below average facilities, However, we have an average attendance of 0!!!!😲😲😲

HOLIDAY AND ASSISTANT MANAGER

As with my other saves, my process as manager involves setting out my holiday stance and delegation as seen below:

STAFF,FINANCE AND TRAINING

Over 3 years, I have managed to gain VSK Aarhus 2x Silver trained Coaches(GK & GENERAL) & a full Physio set up(PREVENTION & REHABILITATION), However, over 3 years, no scouts have been interested in working with the club. Our Finances are in the green which is partly through us buying good youthful players and selling them on for a profit. The training schedule is delegated over to my Assistant Manager Joël Bats.

TACTICS

I have used my Tiki Taka Tactic for VSK Aarhus(Seen Below). The Defensive side of the squad have always been solid. The attacking side have found it more difficult meaning that we needed players who could finish on the Wings. Also started searching for Forwards instead of a striker for the Trequatista role.

SQUAD

The VSK Aarhus squad has changed a lot in my 3 seasons so far. In my 1st Season, I had to get rid of 90% of the players due to the complete lack of quality, With my 2nd & 3rd seasons being building seasons(Getting in players who were better than the ones we already have). I bought players based on 1) them being Danish 2) them being between 19-25 years old  & 3) Them being between 10-20 quality in their chosen position - EG: GK has 10-20 attributes for Handling and Reflexes.

THE RESULT

Without a doubt, This has been my hardest challenge on Football Manager due to the lack of quality, funds and basically coming up against teams regularly better than you. However, the slow build & gradual progress over 3 seasons has finally seen us crowned Danish 2nd Division Champions!!!🥳🥳🥳 I am looking forward to carrying on this save and challenging myself but the road, will not be easy!!

As with your other saves, my question is - by stating this, do you mean that you go on holiday all the time? Like, you just set up the team etc and then skip the matches? Otherwise, what's the relevance of mentioning it?

Tbf I’ve seen on some of his other posts videos of games so would imagine he plays rather than goes on hol

Would he really spend all this time posting these pictures and writing all that, and then we find he has Holidayed the whole career so far, barking, so I would hope (not suggest) he is showing us how good he is at bringing VSK Aarhus to be recognised, I think 🤞

sure, that's what i think too. it's just always odd that he mentions his "holiday stance" and not really clear why - we've tried to clarify before, without success...

Sometimes I holiday games l, for example in the Dutch KKD when I already achieved a playoff spot. Also sometimes when 1/3 of my squad is on international duty and we have to play a game. Maybe SSolas does the same?

UPDATE- YEAR 2027

In the year 2027, I have managed VSK Aarhus to promotion to the top Danish League. VSK aarhus also managed to win Division 1 of Danish Football. This is a significant achievement and especially pleasing since we topped the league with the Most Goals Scored & the Least Goals Conceded list.

My win rate with VSK Aarhus is 46%(Eddie Howes win rate is 44%). I wish this was better but is also a good reflection on what a challenge this save has been. As you can see below, both the board and players are happy with my management of the club.

I have tweaked the style slightly at VSK Aarhus to try and push progress quicker. The mentality of the squad is now Attacking which I felt was the right move as the overall balance of the team is relatively defensive(6 defensive players & 4 attacking players). This has been very successful, proved by us winning the league in the 1st season using it. Before the change, we spent a couple of seasons getting very close to promotion before falling short in the last run-in.( Shown by the club history graph).

The Club as a whole is in better shape under my management. The Facilities are now 'Good' for both 1st team and youth players, which is a massive improvement. Our stadium is still only 1,000 capacity but is at least being filled up weekly which is fantastic.

Ps: I do not Holiday my Career and it is used purely as a way of showing wider members of FMMVibe how exactly my settings are.😊🤝

Year 2027- Team Report - Philosophy review

I want to review my Team Report for our successful 2027 with VSK Aarhus. The findings may be able to improve my management going forward. I will go through the positives and negatives.

Positives

2027 was a very successful year for VSK Aarhus and there are a lot of positives. The Key positives below include the use of young players, Fitness levels and facilities as well as the nod towards the successful Tactic. The following actions may be reason for these:

  • Buying Danish players aged 19-25
  • Every season asking the board to improve facilities
  • Top attacking and defending team - indicates the tactic was very successful.

Things I could learn by:

  • Fitness levels of Pace & Stamina are very important, should be focused on in purchasing players.

Negatives

There are still some significant negatives listed as well for our promotion winning season. Some of the key ones for me was Leadership, Technique, Aggression and Transfer funds. The main one of these negatives is lack of technique, which, using a Tiki Taka style, I thought would be vital but does not appear to be.

Update - Year 2028

After 9 long years, I have taken VSK Aarhus from the bottom of the 2nd Division to the Top of the Danish Superliga. The time is has taken me to get here indicates what a challenging job this has been. Winning the Superliga with VSK Aarhus has to go down as one of my greatest achievements as a manager.

We won the Danish Superliga in surprisingly good fashion as well. VSK Aarhus scored the most goals in the league whilst conceding the least amount of goals. We finished the league in the end with 9 points clear of the 2nd best club- FC Midtjylland. The tables below just show the growth of the side over my reign as manager.

well, cool, but it's weird, because it's totally irrelevant - like, why not just add screenshots of your currency settings, etc? if you don't use the holiday function, then showing that page is pointless :)

nice career otherwise - i just had a little run in Denmark, it seems a horribly poor league, but any battle from the bottom to the top is always emotional :)

Great job . Nice to see a run from bottom to top and not just a team full of stars & wonder kids

Nice results, maybe I'll try your tactic to finish my long career. Who are the best performing players? Always struggle to get consistent ratings for players and I can't seem to get high ratings like some other people get on this forum.

I note in the first post you were searching for Forwards rather than Strikers for the Trequartista role. What do you mean by this? Attacking midfielders?

Cheers @Dagion. Below are the two best players I had in the Danish Superliga. I have provided a blog on the steps for success which you may find helpful.🙂

Evening @KG4, Thank you for your comment. At first I was looking for strikers who had good finishing and heading attributes but I have found more success with the striker acting more as a Centre forward(Trequatista) and having better skills in Finishing and Pace. Hope this helps answer your questions.

Hello, I'm a fan of your tiki taka tactic, but I only find old posts, could you pass me the file of your current tiki taka tactic?

Thank you so much for your question. So... both Tiki Taka Tactics I have been using are above in my blog. I have used the tactic with a 'Control' mentality recently to great success BUT changed to a more 'Attacking' mentality which provides more shots on goal than control BUT does require a very physically fit team to pull off. If you do not have the fitness then it will not work! Ensure you work on Pace for the forwards and stamina for your Wing backs and midfielders. Hope you enjoy! 😊

Thanks, it is true I tried it with the offensive mentality and it was difficult for me to be comfortable with how the team played, now I will try with a dominance mentality to see how it goes 🤓

👍 Great Stuff @Sepuarr

If you buy players with the key attributes of those positions along with a focus on fitness in the key areas I have mentioned above - you will be successful.
