After taking a break from my last challenge, I spotted this one;

A quick, 2 season goal scoring challenge. 

I managed to thrash this out over the weekend. 

Player;

Ashley Fletcher. Decent looking stats, young enough to improve. 

I liked his aerial, shooting and pace stats to start with. Surprisingly there isnt alot of choice for a decent english striker 3m or under

So as you can see, not a lot of money spent overall but I did raid the loan market. If a player didnt impress after a few games - he was sent back.

The league was easy. Actually my first every 'unbeaten' league season in FM. 

Champions league - lets not speak about that. Rock bottom of our group. Europe was not fun in the slightest. 

Ashley Fletcher;

A decent season, he missed a few games due fitness levels, but still 35 scored in 42. Not bad i reckon. 

It would of perhaps been more if not for this;

If you know the Greek league then the games come thick and fast, so although only a month he probably missed around 5/6 games. 

The challenge almost fell apart when Fletcher demanded to move. Luckily, he signed a new contract on a tad more money and was happy again for bit.

League won as expected, few more defeats this year - second season syndrome with my tactic i reckon. 

Champions league same as before, just couldnt get a results. 

Ashley Fletcher;

 

This was him at the end of the last season, so looking better and better each game. 

He actually played a game less than season one, but scored 6 more. 

Its probably the first time ive ever a had a 1/1 goal/game ratio over a decent amount of goals, so doing something right this time round.

Good score. Shame you couldn't build on the first season which was very good. Was it the tactic, was it the players? 

Fletcher improved nicely over two seasons.

Edited - good spot ha. 

Tactics pretty much remained the same, and i believed i had improved the squad. 

It might of been that due to the amount of loans i had in the first season, it was pretty much a whole new squad for the second so couldnt hit the ground running from the off.

Ah yes, that explains it. 

We rarely see 2-season challenges posted/attempted on Vibe. I like it. I'll see if I can come up a few interesting 2-season challenges.

Nice attempt there, Fletcher looks like a decent player. I had similar problems in my attempt with Toney with him wanting a move during the first season but I like you managed to tie him down.

How did you find the Greek league to play? I enjoyed it and would like to try something there again at some point.

I enjoyed it. The league was rather straight forward, few typical FMM results along the way. 
There is potential for the long term save - trying to conquer Europe. Also found it good to use different players, as despite having a bit more cash second season - the quality i could attract was lacking. 

I did like the way the league was structured, similar to Scotland.

I'm actually doing the challenge right now and I really like the league. With good loan signings you only have to worry about two or three teams. Europe is a bit hit and miss I guess. Fitness was a bit of a problem at the end of the first season, sold too many rotation players I think.

Quite difficult to attract good players, especially with the budget and wage structure in the beginning (1M budget and -33k wages). In retrospect I should have picked Germany as an extra league, there is usually some cheap talent available there.

Unfortunately I discovered too late that some of the Olympiakos players are valued too low and you can actually sell them at much higher values.

Then again, I don't have the illusion to top the board with the player I picked (will write it up soon).
