Always interesting to see other approaches, especially used players and tactic wise. At some point my midfield was 3 CM's to stop them from nicking goals. Still solid in creating chances though, not sure about BBM vs CM.

In my mind CM's drift more horizontally instead of BBM's who drift vertically if that makes any sense at all. Not even sure that's the way they actually work, it's just stuck in my head that way.

Bremer wasn't that good so I loaned him, Aina developed nicely even as a winger. But I'm more defense minded.

Table looks close, hopefully you can bring it home! Good luck 😉

I generally think of the CM as a pure support guy and he can be a good pick in a two. I used this system a few times on last years game but not on this so it was a bit of a test. Anyway, he turned into a BBM later on in this season as we weren’t scoring enough early on and putting him to BBM seemed to help a touch but you can see we still weren’t so prolific.

That exact formation and player roles is one I use very often 👍 this should be good.

Yeah it seems good, probably could be a lot better with a tweak or two to my instructions. Seems stable enough though even with a BBM instead of the CM which I switched to a good bit into the season.

Nice choices Ian.

I do have to ask, though: do you have Scott McKenna locked up in a cupboard at home?

Thanks Rob, yes he is my go to cheap defender haha. I should probably find a different option but he’s so good value for money.

That's a cool trio. Toney was massive for you in the English Killer challenge. Hope he delivers the goods here

Cheers Kane, yes he was very good in Greece and he’s been decent here too. He’s was actually injured I believe for a few of those remaining fixtures so you’ll see if that hindered us or not later.

That Roma game looks kinda important! Especially now that I know @Dagion won the league and posted a good score.

Actually, you GS and GA look very similar too. This could be a very close run challenge!

Good luck

Yeah those two middle away games didn’t fill me with confidence as we haven’t been so good against the top teams we’ll see how they got on later. Thanks, another nice challenge this one.

Thank you Lord Danish.

Looks like a great season mate, I’ve got Fletcher banging them in on a personal Boro save although he is the lone striker for me so I’ll be interested to see how he performs in a 3.

Thanks Smoggy, looks like he’s doing well. I generally had him in the right as a poacher this season apart from when Toney was out and then he may have gone central but he’s done ok.

Red Mini: Ashley Fletcher

Signed from Middlesbrough for £4.4m and a decent looking player with plenty of high level blue that could easily turn green to make him look so much better.

I used Ashley Fletcher for my English Killer challenge. Turns into a real decent player for the price. Got abit big for his boots at time, but banged the goals in. Think i played him mostly as a poacher for that, scored 44/45? in one season.

Yeah it might’ve been from that where I recognised him as I knew I’d seen him used somewhere on here recently.

The Italian Job - Final Update

I left it last time with a little preview of the final few fixtures with the league and Europa League both very much up for grabs. We’d lost out in the Italian Cup earlier in the season away to Inter at the quarter final stage so might as well just skip to the final fixtures and start there.

This was the league table with the remaining fixtures as previewed earlier.

FD98B008-85EE-42CE-8DE0-9C56476575F2.thumb.jpeg.645af2334738fb570f749b64428ddb08.jpeg

We went through to the Europa League final after beating Porto to face Arsenal and won the two easier home games but unfortunately couldn’t get a result in either of the tougher away games where our cause wasn’t helped by an injury to main man Toney which meant he missed all four of the final league games.

So that meant the final league table was as follows.

Spoiler

We could only finish second after a long hard season in which we were top for the vast majority of it but that’s that and we can have no complaints. Ultimately though we just couldn’t quite score enough goals.

The Europa League final against Arsenal went as follows.

Spoiler

They came out of the blocks and pummelled us to take an early two goal lead and I thought that was that but from then on we were the better side and a goal each from our red and white minis brought us level. Neither team could find a winner so penalties would decide it and it was us who’d come out on top to send us victorious after a hard fought final.

Now for the minis.

Blue Mini: Ivan Toney

Toney was our highest scorer playing mostly from the central striking position as he hit 31 goals in 53 games so not a bad start as that’s £155,000 from our blue mini.

Red Mini: Ashley Fletcher

Ashley added 21 goals to our cause in the 52 games he played to give us another £105,000 to the cause. He was unfortunate enough to suffer an injury in pre season and ended up missing most of the early Europa League qualifiers which would’ve offered him a good opportunity of scoring a few more goals I’m sure as those teams were rather poor.

White Mini: Tom Barkhuizen

Tom contributed 22 goals to our total in the 55 games he played so a nice £110,000 and total of £370,000 from all three of our minis.

Score

Blue Mini: 31 goals = £155,000

Red Mini: 21 goals = £105,000

White Mini: 22 goals = £110,000

Europa League Win: £50,000

Total: £420,000

If I’ve added that up correctly I think @Dagion and myself are tied. If I am correct then I’d prefer that you keep Dagion top @Thepremiermanager as he posted first. Another brilliant challenge though and I’ll move onto the next one over the weekend.

Thanks for reading.

Great work bud.

It's a shame those away games cost you in the end. Really enjoying reading your play throughs and that you and @Dagion are playing at the same time adds to the tension.

I'll update the leaderboard now.

Sure does! Can't wait until Monday and bang some in with my Vasily.. 😁 excellent work Ian, just 1 goal more and... Nice work getting that much out of all three of them though!

Besides all the movies we need to find some time to play my H2H against Bati

So close to claiming the Serie A but beating Juve in the first season in the league is an achievement in itself. Great robbing!

Thank you TPM, yeah I didn’t fancy them if I’m honest as we kind of struggled against the better teams during the season especially away. I’ll move onto the next one in the coming days.

Thank you Dalgion, yeah just one goal for either of us which shows how tight these challenges can be. It’s a nice total though for others to maybe have a go and beat.

Cheers Bati, just a step too far in the end. Three slightly better strikers might’ve made all the difference but can’t complain as all of the minis did well.
