Career Rinse n Repeat - The Athletico Madrid Challenge

Hi Guys 

Saw this challenge - and thought of giving it a try...

 

I really like ATM's team and their game. (Really hated them when they knocked Liverpool this year  )

but yea, without being biased - they are indeed a solid team. In fact, they are this machine of developing quality strikers over the years in and out. 

So without further ado... 

I took up ATM and decided to go with Diego Costa as my man for this season to score 30+ goals. Morata was also there on loan from Chelsea but I had a tactic in mind with Costa upfront, so went with him... 

Here are the results from the first season :  

We won the Super Cup and Spanish Cup and narrowly lost in UCL final against Inter Milan. 

La Liga - we just lost a single game but drew a lot so came third. 

and yea, the Elephant man scored 54 goals in all competitions.  Won the Spanish player of the year, League's Top goalscorer - Pichichi trophy (31 goals), and Top Spanish goalscorer. All this while being injured in between for 3 weeks.    

So overall, a fun season - hoping to demote/sell him and get another lethal striker to repeat the same in the second season. Stay tuned!

Great start man 54 goals is mental with any striker .... Now just to find another shithouse like Costa to replace him 😂

So, guys 

Costa's value was 53m - but nobody really bid for him so i had to demote him and play him in the reserve team... 

The man to replace him is Youssef Poulsen... 

Another decent striker - for a good price of 29.6 milly... 

Here are the SS with him in second season... 

He became the League top scorer - same amount of goals as costa (31 goals) and overall 46 goals + 16 assists in all comps... not bad! 

We won the domestic treble... no european glory tho 

I'm already on my third season - going to finish it and post whether success/fail... you can guess from the transfers tab - you might find who will be replacing Poulsen...

Season 3: 

From my previous post - after Poulsen got transferred to Everton for a mere 30-35 mil (dint remember the exact figure) I got Andrea Belotti - one of my expensive signing for 73mil from Lyon. 

He turned out be a flop - as in he helped me pass the challenge of scoring 30+ goals a season - but overall, i had an underwhelming season; rather a trophy-less season. 

Well, Belotti eventually won the league's top scorer but his goals really didn't help me win anything - so a flop show. 

Overall, he scored 21 goals in league and scored 32 goals overall with 8 assists. Just kept me marginally on the right side to survive the challenge...

Season 4: 

Time to move on... 

Transfer listed Bellotti - and eventually sold him to Marsielle to recoup half of what I spent and got Moussa Dembele instead. A slightly pacy striker and good enough to play ahead/alongside my team's playmaker - Joao Felix. 

Whooo ! he turned out great for me especially in second half of the season - especially when i got Real Madrid repeatedly in either league matches or knockout rounds of cup comps. 

Also, in this season both Felix and Dembele really performed at their peak, both of them scored 30+ goals for me and helped winning the treble. Both helped do a remontada against Madrid and Liverpool in UCL. He scored hat tricks in QFs and most importantly in the finals against Roma. 

So yea, damn good season. SS attached.

Season 5 : 

Another Season, Another Striker 

This time - another raid from Bundesliga team, BVB. 

Got Donyell Malen for 38.5 mil. 

And this season is second best season i played after the first season. Overall, a fun season - Malen really picked it up and scored 49 goals and provided 17 assists in 50 apps for the club. That's almost a goal- every- match. Beast stats! 

This season I made a lot of transfers - since Man City took away my main no, 10 Joao Felix for 209 mil - so yea, invested a lot in youth players - especially when club veterans like Vitolo, Koke, Herrera etc. are not getting any younger. 

Another treble season ( plus the super cup) - had a lot of fun... SS attached.

By the end of season - sold him to Chelsea for 115 mil - a lot of money in the bag... so yea good stuff...

Season 6 : 

Signed Timothy Weah - son of iconic George Weah. 

This one was a tough one - but at the end - it turned out well just got him over the benchmark of scoring  30 goals... 

but yea, he scored 32 goals and provided 21 assists. So decent stats... 

Won the Spanish cup + UCL

Going nicely with some nice looking strikers tried. I really like Belotti but he let you down, I’m thinking he mustn’t have enjoyed Spain so much. I don’t know too much about Donyell Malen in truth so nice to see him and he looks very good indeed.

Season 7: 

Signed victor osimhen from losc. 

Made him score 30+ but now I'm bored with this career and challenge so going to end here...
