Ian - Season 8

We ditched the Holland job last season but that doesn’t really change anything as we are still basically looking for goals with our highest club return of 118 from season five being the benchmark.

Let’s see how we got on this season.

 

Transfers

We aren’t fully into regen territory yet but there’s not a lot going on other than a few players wanting to leave, getting their wish and then being replaced by a similar type of player so I won’t go into any detail here.

We won all trophies this season but did suffer four horrible league defeats.

Warriors

A few little injuries for the boys this year so it's not looking good for us managing a full uninterrupted season but on the other hand it generally seems to be more shorter injuries rather than really long ones so I’m confident that the injuries won’t hinder us too much when it comes to the TT.

There were a few decent games for the warriors but I suppose this one where all three got on the scoresheet was the highlight.

 

The boys put up their second best club return so far as they scored 114 combined goals with Josh getting 49 of them, the Postman 30 and Boadu 35 so we’re happy enough. I think I’m settled now with Josh through the middle as a DLF, the Postman to the left of him as a P and Boadu to the right as an AF. Seems good for the three of them as a whole although probably hinders Josh a bit but it’s unlikely I’ll change anything now until they decline so it’s all go now as we power through the seasons.

My assist warrior had his best season yet as he assisted 31 goals to give him a total of 152 so far. He’s just ticking along steadily and I don’t have too much confidence that he’s going to get a great total but if I get him above 300 I’d be happy enough.

Thank you Woody, if we do hit the 1k total next year we will have beaten my best club return yet so hopefully we will.

Thanks Kane, yeah you’re probably right but that’s all I can manage so far with my system. I have had Josh down the middle for the majority so if I’d have gone with Boadu there he may have done better but we’ll never know now.

Season 08 - England - Rob

England

This season included the tail end of the World Cup, where we grabbed third place after losing to Italy in the semi-finals before demolishing Germany in the play-off. Germany seem to be easy to beat, as demonstrated in the European League.

Transfers

Nothing of interest really. Sancho returned. Both English, Lancaster is a very good central midfielder and Quy is the best young goalkeeper out there. Outgoing were due to profit, international improvements completed, age, or contract disputes. This is now the general theme of recruitment and sales.

Not really much to say other than we didn’t win the Champions Cup.

 

Player Performance

I’ve tried to avoid mentioning injuries, but I will do so here to point out a bit of a problem with doing a TT.

Two of my three out injured at the same time. Obviously in a TT you have to always play three in the top line. Rashford and Nelson come in and grab a fair percentage of the goals, which is frustrating.

We grabbed another 148 goals and 29 assists, giving us an overall total of 1,080 goals and 179 assists. 420 needed for the TT. I forgot to screenshot my individual spreadsheet after season 8.

Harvey looks amazing. What a player. If only I could find a way of focussing assists through him. Liverpool will be dead chuffed if he ends up like this in real life.

With Woody now in the international post things are really picking up. Foxy is starting to pull away with the assists. Ian is smashing out amazing numbers considering he now just has club contributions.

I’m well ahead of where we’re at with posting and my injuries get worse but I think I may have finally figured out what was causing the sheer volume of them. It’s unconfirmed at this stage but I know we’ve just had our best spell for years in terms of injuries in the last season I played. It’s miles away though and it was just one tactical tweak that I think might’ve made the difference. I guess I’ll see over the next couple of seasons.

Woody: Season 9.

Spain.

Oh how good it feels to say i'm bossing Spain these days. 😂

We finished the season before the roll over having started the Euros.

We only got 2 games into the tournament but the lads had got them selves a few goals to top up their tallies.

Ruiz topped up his goals with 4 more for Spain giving him 7 so far.

Nino did just the same as Ruiz bringing his total up to 6.

Zarzana knocked in another 10 giving him 18 for us.

The lads did well on the International front with 18 for the season.

We did a few ins 'n' outs.

We had a a difficult season trophy wise. We under performed here and missed out on two.

We won the league comfortably, the Super Cup and the Champions Trophie but we were propper done by in the Champions Cup 1st knock out and the French Cup.

Those disappointments aside our boys had a decent season.

Our assister is really come into his own(finally) albeit a little late.

Beltran helped us along the way with another 24 assists. He is 29 now and i'm hoping that his decline is far in the distance.

Our Padres have done me well so far  and this season they continued with a combined effort of 89 goals.

Ruiz helped himself to 35 goals coupled with his Spain goals it gave him 39 in total.

Nino collected another 21 goals added to his 4 Spain efforts gave him 25 in total.

Zarzana had a little slump but still managed a reasonable 33 but with his 10 for Spain that made his season tally of 43 a much better return.

So we finished season 9 with a solid total of 107 goals. A little less than last season but i'm happy to have reached another ton.

Beltran:  125 assists.

Ruiz: 266 + 7 INT = 273 goals.

Nino: 218 + 6 INT = 224 goals.

Zarzana: 269 + 18 INT = 287 goals.

Total Goals: 783.

I am some way off the the others but this has truly been fun so far.
