Career The Warriors: The Battle Ends

Season 12 - England - Rob

Last year the boys got the TT, so that objective was done and dusted. Scraping 2,000 with a 1kc got Greenwood we’re our final targets.

England

We won the World Cup - hurrah! - and continued our destruction of the Germans.

Transfers

Older players left, with replacements coming in. Like the other lads, we are at the point where we can buy and sell who we want.

Team Performance

Not great. The squad was transitioning a bit and I had gotten a bit obsessed with goals at this point.

Player Performance

Elliot got another 29 assists this season, taking us to 320 which is a number I’m chuffed to bits with.

Our three strikers nabbed a further 158 goals, taking our total to 1,702. Greenwood bagged a further 72, leaving him with 239 needed for the 1kc. I had just bagged a contract extension with him, so that’s less than 50 a season which should be doable... if it wasn’t for the fact he’s now 29 and a few years from what appears to be instant stat reduction.

The Warriors

Ian is comfortably sailing towards the TT, whilst being able to bathe in the glory of the Gundogan challenge. Foxy destroyed this season smashing the TT and setting a goal total top score. Woody is taking three lesser knowns and, for me, is having an exciting adventure trying to claw them towards a TT.

Thanks for reading and all comments welcome!

Some brilliant goal action in those international games and there’ll be a statue of you outside Wembley soon enough I’m sure.

Great total again and I guess it’s just a case of keeping things going in the quest for your targets now.

                   Woody: Season 13

We are here, unlucky number 13.

Would the season be a Friday 13th slaughter or just a plain bad season?

We shall see. 😨

A few more probably unnessesary transfers were made.

Our boys are beginning to get old now and we start off with our elder statesman, Beltran.

Fran is 33 now and its starting to show in his physicals.

This lack of pace and stamina is hindering him as he only managed 16 assists.

He has over 200 now which for me is more than i thought he would get so at this point i'm more than happy.

Our 3 Padres had a good year despite those injuries to Ruiz and Nino.

Ruiz bundled in 28 goals at club level and added 2 for Spain giving him 30 goals in total which giving he missed 2 months of the season is pretty impressive.

Nino also missed some games but just the 1 month. Despite this he still managed to collect 24 club goals as he did last term. He added to that with 5 more for Spain giving him 29 in total.

Our main man Zarzana had an injury free season and with that he notched home 40 club goals.

He also hot 9 more for Spain leaving him with 49 in total.

That gives us a season total of 108 goals. Considering the 3 months of injuries to 2 of our Padre warriors it turned out pretty well in the end.

Beltran: 202 assists.

Ruiz: 386 goals + 30 int'l = 416 total.

Nino: 314 goals + 28 int'l = 342 total.

Zarzana: 424 goals + 60 int'l = 484 total.

Overall total: 1242 goals.

Thanks for reading 👍👍

Excellent season again. 258 to go Woody!  Minimum of 3 years of contract too.

I totally get your point about needless signings. It almost gets a bit ‘well I will spend that money because I have it’ and then you end up unsettling players, etc.

Not so nice with the injuries but no real problem to the boys and it is looking very promising now for the TT. Just need to keep on going.

I think they missed around 12 games between them wich is frustrating as it hits your total in the ass, but they did well though in the end. Hopefully no one decides to retire early.

Upamacano has just decided to retire at 33 and wont reconsider, so if he decides enough is enough then god help me if the warriors follow suit. 😲

Ian - Season 13

After our injury debacle last year we just needed to dust ourselves off and go again as we still have targets to hit. We need 179 goals to reach the triple threat target and I’d like to get our assist warrior into the 300’s which looks like it’ll depend on whether he’ll sign a new contract as this is the final year of his deal.

Team Affairs

Plenty of money spent but not many new faces arrived with only three players incoming.

A clean sweep of trophies this year and the most interesting game was probably the Champions League final where we hammered Rennes via the score line but not so much via the stats. Nice to see all three of our warriors getting on the scoresheet though I will say.

Warriors

This was probably the highlight game for our goalscorers this year. We were only a 9-0 victory away from completing the Gundogan again this year so I’d have been annoyed if we hadn’t completed it on season 10.

A much better return for our warriors with 108 goals between them which leaves us with only 71 goals required to hit the TT and I’d like to think we could get those goals next season. Josh led the way with 45 goals, Boadu followed up with 32 and the Postman contributed 31. We finally got our assister tied down too and he managed 28 assists this season and is now on 291 in total so again I’d be expecting him to break the 300 target next year. All in all we’re happy.

Foxy - Season 13

Last season was a real “barnstormer” as my trio smashed in a Warriors goals total record of 167 which although it was a bit “wind assisted” due to some easy ITN games it was a very satisfying season. On top of that Cappy got over his broken leg in season 12 to assisted 36 goals.

So all going well and more of the same eh?

Not really 😕

Even our overall team performance wasn’t great and we went out the cup at the earliest stage we ever have along with a CL final defeat.

Cappy’s pace is going fast now thanks to that busted leg and his assists total suffered this season. He has been playing as an AP in the centre of the park for the last 10 seasons and I think with his lack of pace and the fact he isn’t very good at the defensive side of the game it made the team struggle.

This might sound weird as he is getting slow but he is going out on the right wing next season. He can’t get around the pitch enough to play CM so if he is on the wing he can at least still cross the ball. Time will tell if it works I guess but I need to play him somewhere to keep picking up a few assists and keep his total going up.

Goal Warriors

Pellegri is declining now he is 31 but so far there is no signs of decline from Esposito or Selcedo so there lower total this season can’t be blamed on that. My thinking is much the same as I said above in that Cappy isn’t good enough to play a key role in central midfield any more and that effected the team as a whole and the lads in terms of goals.

It wasn’t a complete loss of a season as they did score 129 goals between them which is ok but it is the lowest total they have had since season 5 and last season they scored 125 goals just for PSG.

 Unofficial DT

Something else I have just noticed is that Pellegri and Esposito have completed a Double Trouble between themselves albeit an unofficial one.

Esposito: 670

Pellegri: 544

Total Goals: 1214 goals

Thanks for reading.

Well done Mr Fox. And it should count it as an official DT as they’ve both played as strikers. I’m certainly counting mine.

Not far from the 2k!

A drop off it may be but still a great total and it’s just a matter of continuing on scoring goals.

I see what you mean about the assister with his pace. Hopefully he can still perform ok out wide for a few seasons yet.

I’m hoping to get DT’s from every combo the three can be in and they are all quite close now but I don’t think they can be official ones as they aren’t playing up front in a two as per the Double Trouble rules.

I just don’t think he can keep up in midfield and it’s effected the whole team so although he doesn’t have the pace to beat a full back he can still pass and cross so if he can find space with his movement he still might get a good few assists.

Then it is all a bit daft as people include 1kcs from TTS so DTs should count.

Although I tend to agree I didn’t make the challenges and the DT rules do say...

“You must use a tactic with two strikers at all times.”

Nicely done @Foxy. I also think DT's should count in a TT career as you are using a minimum of two strikers. I mean that is my take on it.

100% agree.

Cheers fella.

I think my boys have plenty of goals left in them so I won’t be too downbeat.
