Ian - Season 7

This season saw me more or less pull out of the battle in terms of actually having any chance of winning it as after the third international break I made the decision to leave the Holland job. I had no idea at this stage about the international U21 bug fix so that and just not enjoying the job were the main reasons I called it a day. I knew it wasn’t a great decision for my players regardless because having the job really helps control their game time during international breaks but when you’ve had enough you’ve had enough.

I really want to get the TT and I’ve got my assist warrior to think about so I will continue on. I actually forgot to take screenshots of my boys on the day I quit so we’ve missed out on a few Holland goals from this season but quite frankly that’ll only bother me if I end up about five or six goals short of a target so I’m not going to worry about that at this stage.

Transfers

A few of the younger Dutch players I was developing left as I’d decided even before the season began that I was going to stop the developing young Dutch players thing because I felt it was hindering us at club level. The thing is a lot of the younger Dutch players I had were also affected by the U21 bug and it was highly annoying. I didn’t want to lose Taylor or Kessie but they wanted to go so they went and I brought a few players in to try and improve the squad after our poor return from last season.

Team Results

We won everything except the French Cup where Bordeaux humbled us in the ninth round. It was the highlight of this year to be honest as we pummelled them in the first half and Josh had three goals disallowed before they grabbed the winner in extra time.

Warriors

Our boys suffered a few injuries and I’m thinking I’m getting more injuries than I’d like. I feel like Boadu and Josh in particular are less than robust although it could well be my system. Saying that, if I could get the dreaded 13 month broken or damaged spinal injury I’d be proud and would celebrate accordingly as I don’t think I’ve ever suffered that one yet.

This 7-1 was probably the best game for the warriors with all three getting on the scoresheet although the Boadu injury wasn’t quite so welcomed.

We did improve on last season with Josh hitting 41 goals, the Postman 29 and Boadu 27 to give us a combined total of 97. It’s an improvement but we’re still a long way short of our best club return of 118 from season five so that remains our target now. Our assist guy went backwards a bit this year as he could only manage 15 assists in 42 games but I really feel it’s hit or miss on that front as my system doesn’t really doesn’t help him. I actually think he might be better in the centre of midfield and he does play the odd game there but I’ve got Havertz as my first choice and that’s not changing unless we lose him.

F154FF71-95AE-4BED-AF9A-FEAE2502ABD6.thumb.jpeg.156ea6c86b0be43ecc78b9091e4f2380.jpeg

The boys are now developing into great players but I’m slightly disappointed in Josh and both his stamina and strength in particular as I thought we’d be able to get those to green level. I guess we might yet still manage to but I honestly thought they both would be by now especially his stamina as I’ve been focusing on that for the majority of the time.

Not what you expected Ian but a quality season all the same.

That French cup game was down right cruel! It happens far too often in the game for poeple to say "but it happens in real life"....its bollocks is what it is 😂😂

French Cup. Evil. Makes a mockery of the game.

I find the split if your goals really interesting. It’s oretty much a 50:25:25 ratio.

Thank you Woody, it was a funny game but I haven’t had that happen too often on this save tbh so can’t complain really. The international bug thing just annoyed me so much that all of a sudden I’d had enough.

Thanks Rob, I originally had Josh and the Postman central with Boadu out wide as I pushed up IF but I couldn’t get what I wanted out of Boadu like that so they’re all central now. I’ve currently got Josh in the centre as a DLF, the Postman as a P to the left, Boadu an AF to the right and whilst it’s early days I think that may be the best for the three of them as a unit but maybe not for Josh individually. I’ve got the set pieces mixed too with Josh first choice on pens and the other two first choice on a side each for free kicks.

Thanks Kane, yes you come to expect these things and have to just accept them. I’m not so fussed about the cup defeat though as it’s a bit of a one off for me on this save, well so far anyway 😂

I don’t blame you for jacking in the ITN as I have been tempted as well as it’s such a ball ache. Without ITN that was a good goal total and hopefully it will help you keep motivated not having the international games to bother with.

In terms of shots per game, do you find they take equal shots?

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as even though the International was horrible the TT would’ve still been more or less a given if I’d stayed so at least this way there’s a bit of a challenge for the TT. It’s still PSG and fantastic players so still expected I’ll hit it but a little challenge nonetheless to keep motivation there as you say.

It seems to be quite equal, certainly is on my current season it is. The Postman and Boadu seem to have the odd game where they take a lot of shots but for all we know that could be more free kicks on their side for that game. Still the central guy always seems to be the most prolific for me regardless of how I go, probably those near post corner goals I guess.

Great season Ian! That international job is a massive bonus to control playing time and obviously score more goals but it can be a massive bind and the football is relentless all year round. That and coupled with the INT bug I understand that decision.

Foxy Season 7

Last season was my best yet with 142 goals and then an brilliant 43 assists from Capanni. The goals were perhaps helped by the increased number of international games that season and possibly the assist total was just a happy blip so it will be interesting to how they did this year.

First some news and you will see that the club is moving into a new stadium next season. The eagle eyed amongst you may also notice that I seem to have been lazy in asking the board to improve facilities which is something I have just realised myself as well looking at this screenshot 🤦‍♂️

The assist challenge is reliant on ITN so a decrease in games in that department doesn’t effect my total. Capanni did have a decrease in assists this season which although I hoped wouldn’t be the case I did expect to happen.

It was a decrease by 9 but he still had 34 which is decent enough at this level.

Season Assists: 34

Onto my goal warriors and there was a drop off but only by 5 goals and considering they only played 8 times for Italy this season as opposed to 15 (16 in Esposito case) last season that was a decent return and on a GpG basis probably better than last season.

The goals still seem relatively well spread out between the three although Esposito was ahead of the other two by about 12 goals.

Great season again. They are all looking good but Esposito in particular looks brilliant. I have used him before but only as a backup option for my three minis on my Italian Job challenge attempt and he did a fine job for me there too even at 16 or 17.

Thank you Smoggy, yeah it was annoying me and I think there were a few injuries and stuff to sort out on the first couple of international breaks which kind of prompted me to call it a day as I just wanted to motor on. I have another motive for wanting to complete this TT and my DT which is a personal thing which I’ll explain later on.

Season 07 - Rob - England

After a fantastic season 4 and 5, with a slight drop in 6, what would season 7 bring?

Our main signings were Donnarumma and Havertz on frees, which meant I could sell on a few more moaners.

Spoiler

Greenwood had a 3 month layoff, which wasn’t great as that meant someone else would come in and grab his portion of goals as you can always have to play three up front in a TT.

All three got in to the World Team for the first time together, which was lovely. The screenshot is printed off, framed, and hung above my fireplace.

The boys are all looking awesome now:

We finished the season with 30 more assists from Harvey and 151 more goals for the three strikers. Greenwood’s injury meant he dropped a few goals but Rogers picked up the slack.

034847FD-C9C0-44DA-BBAC-6D1B24ADE2F5.jpeg.a52b94eb42bef15cfd5d4aa2dc85b62a.jpeg

568 goals needed to complete the TT and 150 assists for Harvey so far, both of which I’m delighted with.

This is the standings on the challenge, with the Warriors continuing battle through sun, wind, and rain. All four of us should get TTs, especially if @Woody gets the ITN job eventually. @Foxy is starting to pull away in the assists, with me having a decent, but definitely catchable, lead in the goals.

Fantastic season Rob, really puts you in control of the TT. would’ve been massive but for that Greenwood injury.
Really competitive on the assists front, that could be a close call.

                   Woody: Season 8.

Luis Enrique. A man i have grown to dislike during this save.

Germany a nation i can say i'm not a fond lover of either but one of these has had me growing just a tiny bit fonder of.

Well thanks to the plucky Germans, who knocked Spain out of the World Cup at the semi final stage i'm now(finally) the manager of Spain!

7 seasons it bloody took!!!

Transfers wise we did a little bit of business.

Anyway its been abit of a funny year. We won all the domestic trophies and the league but we got booted from the Champions Cup in the frickin group stage after drawing 4 of our 6 games. So it was a Europa League adventure for us which we eventually won.

We also added the Super Cup too.

Our assister has started to show what he can do as if last season and this year he continued. Not as great as last year but he did manage to get 24 this time around.

So our Spanish warriors had a new boss at international level to help suppliment our goals total.

Neither of them had scored any goals so far for Spain so that makes it easier for me to keep track of.

Nino had a difficult season this year. Form was a major struggle and he didnt score in his 1st 9 games and he finished the season with a disappointing 21 goals. He did manage 2 for Spain though giving him a final total of 23.

Ruiz, my TM has been performing steadily so far but this year he has reached his peak. Clocking up an impressive 39 club goals and 3 for Spain giving him 42 in total.

Zarzana is by far the best of the 3 and had been proving that of late. He managed another 40 club goals and also notched a nice 8 for Spain giving him 48 in total.

That gives us a combined total of 113 for the season helpingnus break the 100 mark for the 1st time. 😆😆

Hopefully this is a sign of whats to come.

Also we moved into a new stadium and for the rest of the save we will be playing in 'The Toilet Bowl'.

Brilliant season and that Spain job should really help.
