The Devil's Number 7 Challenge

Since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure to Real Madrid in 2009, a number of players have tried and failed to live up to the very high expectations of wearing the famous number seven jersey.

Is the expectation of wearing such a historic number becoming a burden at Old Trafford?

 

The fact that those Manchester United players who wore the number 7 have scored only 13 goals in 138 league games is actually quite shocking considering its success down the year.

From the likes of David Beckham, George Best and Eric Cantona to Cristiano Ronaldo and Bryan Robson, this jersey has always held such high esteem but that has certainly changed in more recent times.

The players that wore the ''7'' after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo:

Michael Owen: 17 goals

Angel Di Maria: 3 goals

Antonio Valencia: 1 goal

Memphis Depay: 7 goals

Alexis Sanchez: 3 goals

 

Challenge: Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo have left the club. You are in the post SAF era and you need to live up to expectations of the club and the supporters. The players don't want to wear number 7 shirt because they think that there is a curse behind it. You need to prove them wrong and sign players according to the real players that were signed during post-SAF era that have worn ''7'' and put better results in real life.

Steps to follow:

Season 1

Michael Owen. You need to sign an English Striker that is past his prime (30+). Play with the striker as a main striker the whole season and see what you can achieve with him.

Example: Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge, Ashley Barnes, Troy Deeney.

 

Season 2

Angel Di Maria. You need to sign an Argentinian Winger/Creative Playmaker that is in the age group 24-27. . Play with the Argentinian as a main playmaker the whole season and see what you can achieve with him under number 7 jersey.

Example: Rodrigo De Paul, Correa, Ocampos, Dybala.

 

Season 3

Antonio Valencia. Let your defender wear number 7 jersey and see if any magic comes with the jersey. Play with the defender and try to score as much goals as possible under the magic of number 7 jersey.

Example: Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fosu-Mensah.

 

Season 4

Memphis Depay. Sign a young dutch player with good potential from Eredivisie and prove that youngsters can make the difference straight away. Play with the Dutchmen as your regular starter whole season and see how many matches he will score under the pressure of number 7 jersey.

Example: Stengs, Boadu, Malen, Kluivert.

 

Season 5

Alexis Sanchez. Make a swap deal with favourably with another Premier League club or any other Major Club and try to come out as a winner, having the swap deal player scoring as much goals possible wearing the number 7 jersey.

Example: Pogba to Real Madrid and Gareth Bale to Manchester United. Juan Mata to Valencia and Ferran Torres to Manchester United. Martial to Arsenal and Aubameyang to Manchester United.

 

Rules: 

• You can not use Unlockables, but you can use badges.
• Load up England and some other leagues if you wish and start with Manchester United.
• Verify all with screenshots
• Every goal is a point
• No ''Go on Holiday''
• No match replays

Winning Player of the Season: +20 points

Having player in the Team of the Season: +10 points

Player being Top Scorer of PL: +20 points

Player being Top Scorer of UCL or UEL: +30 points

Player winning Ballon D'Or: +50 points

Winning Domestic Cup: +10 points

Winning Major European Competition:
UEL:+15 points

UCL: +30 points

Winning Club World Championship: +10 points

Winning European Super Cup:+ 20 points

Winning EPL: +40 points

Winning Treble: +100 points (European Competition, Domestic Cup and League)

Winning Double: +20 points( League and Domestic Cup)

Winning Home Treble:+40 points ( Winning all Domestic Competitions)

Winning Community Shield: +10 points

Running-Up in the Competition: +5 points

Regarding the 2nd and 3rd season, the Argentinean cannot play as a striker while the Number 7 can only play as a defender right?

Argentinian can play as long as it's attacking role. Regarding 3d season, any defensive role on the backline, so it can be RB, LB, CD(including RWB and LWB)
