Challenges The Neymar and Mbappe Inside Forward Challenge

Let’s face it, Neymar and Mbappe are two of the best players in the world. Both are the centre-pieces of their nations, Brazil and France, with the latter leading his team to World Cup glory. Any club would love to have either, but PSG are lucky, and rich enough, to have both. 

Prior to the 2019/2020 season Mbappe had 44 goals in 56 games for PSG, with Neymar having 34 in 37. That is a brilliant goal return.

Both players also happen to have Inside Forward (IF) as their natural position on FMM. Neymar’s is left IF; Mbappe’s is right IF.

This challenge is quite a simple one. You play one season as PSG, with the main condition that Neymar plays in his natural position of left IF and Mbappe plays right IF. They can play in the top line or second line, but only as long as their role is Inside Forward and they are on the correct sides. Any other players, roles, and tactics are allowed. You can play a centre forward to support them, you can play an APM behind them, and so on.

Your final score will be the sum of:
    •    Each player’s goals;
    •    Each player’s assists;
    •    League goal difference;
    •    League points

(the goals and assists are from all competitive competitions)

Also, this could be used as a useful first season of @Foxy‘s Peak Year Challenge, so do be creative.

General rules:
    •    No unlockables;
    •    No cheating;
    •    Own formations;
    •    And that means don’t steal the BP and change one instruction - you know who you are! That is cheating;
    •    Any badge and reputation;
    •    Any database;
    •    Transfers, etc, allowed;
    •    Again, don’t be a cheat

Nice challenge and I’ll be going in.

The inside forward role is not a favourite of mine at the moment so this will take me out of my comfort zone which is a good thing.

Right well I decided to give this a go and I must say it's went well if I must say so myself , only lost 2 games all season and won FIVE TROPHIES! 

Ligue 1 , French Cup , French League Cup , French Community Shield and Champions League 

This is the tactic I went with 

A tactic with 2 inside forwards is very hard to manage through a full season due to it being a role needing high fitness and with matches coming thick and fast a lot of rotation is needed and Mbappe and Neymar couldn't play EVERY game together so I had to go into the transfer market in January to sign some back up inside forwards for when Mbappe or Neymar were tired or injured 

In the pre season I decided to sign both Modric and Silva to play in the AP role for alternative games , the reason I did this is because they are two of the best passers in the game and their through balls could unlock defences for both inside forwards to benefit from

I decided I wanted a quality goalkeeper between the posts so opted for Hugo Lloris from Spurs , I ended Icardi loan and ended up selling cavani in January as I had chosen to go with a striker less formation all season. 

Pre season also saw Pique and Laporte join my ranks to ensure we didn't concede many goals which proved to be a brilliant decision as we only conceded 13 goals throughout the league campaign 

With it being difficult to manage both Mbappe and Neymar fitness levels I made sure they were on light training regimes and in the winter transfer window signed Sane , Rodriguez and Luis Alberto as rotation options with Gaya also coming in to provide more options at full back 

This was the final league table 

As you can see only 2 losses and 13 goals conceded which I would class as a quality season , it's a shame I could not go unbeaten however!

With the season complete and all 3 French cups won it was time to set my eyes on the Champions League Final clash against Liverpool 

In an exciting match both Neymar and Mbappe ensured that it would be the perfect ending to an amazing season for the club! 

Now time to see the stats of both my star men 

Mbappe was the star of the show scoring 35 goals and assisting 12

Neymar also had a good season scoring 21 goals and Assisting 14 

Time for the points Total!

Neymar Assists 14

Goal Difference + 53

League Points 92 

Total 227

I can smash out a season in about 2.5 to 3 hours if I play the game non stop , I very rarely watch match highlights , only when testing a tactic , the rest of games I play on commentary only at fastest speed , I've always judged how my team is performing via the stats on screen and doing a half time quick analysis check to see where I think I can win the match or improve by making subs or tweaking the tactic , if I have nothing to do during a day I could complete 2 seasons If I really wanted to yeah!

Took 4 hours 45 mins to complete the season but having won everything had to play a lot more games , a normal premier League season with no Europe I can often blast through quicker

How did you manage to get both players playing around 50 games , I only managed to play mine both 39 times due to the IF role causing fitness issues every so often

for the fitness bit - i kept their training levels 'low' 

and as far as number of games... i shuffled them in and out at times so as to keep the momentum going for both - for eg: in back to back games wherein you have a small time frame to recover i used to play 75% fit kylian with a fit di maria/ draxler on the other flank and likewise for Neymar in the next match until both recovered to 100%

and yea, could've made neymar play more... as in between he got injured for 2 months... so it affected his performances too

I usually play with IF's, so I love that, but having used P$G and Neymar in one of the VWC challenges, I can't stand them/him, so I'm torn... As it's just one season, we'll see, I might give it a go in due course... Great challenge Rob 👍

Here is my attempt, I enjoyed doing this one. Managed a clean sweep of all the trophies and was fortunate with injuries they only had 1/2 each.

I played a deep lying forward along side them to try and thread more chances their way. Caicedo first half of season and then signed Ilicic in January.

Also played wing backs to try and provide the width and stocked the midfield with workhorses.

I’m happy with the attempt but definitely feel there is room for improvement with a bit of tinkering with my tactics and better recruitment.
