Adam tries the Liverpool Front Three Challenge

After giving@Rob PSG Inside Forward challenge a go I decided to try out this and from the off set realised getting up the leaderboard would be some feat giving some insane scores on that board notably @Ian with a outrageous score of 467!!!

So as soon as I arrived at the club I decided to get active straight away in the transfer market

Rudiger and Bonucci were signed to partner Van Dijk to have one of the strongest defences in the division , Marcos Alonso and Piszczek were signed to have depth at full back , with Werner and Gray also joining the ranks to provide back up options to the attacking force of the front three

Tactics:

I decided to go with a high pressing 5 - 2 - 3 formation that looked to get into opponents faces , not allowing them any space or time on the ball and therefore nullifying there attacking threat by not allowing the opposition out of their own half!

Screenshot_20200710-074904.thumb.jpg.78ace73c0ec2cb3b14f086b7262af590.jpg

This game is the perfect example of the tactic at its best , a very comfortable victory where the opposition had not a single shot

The tactic worked all season in not allowing the opposition to score many goals and with having a quality back line we conceded only 12 goals however still only managed to finish in 2nd Place!

Screenshot_20200710-105001.thumb.jpg.bbfda63091eb8d90c12e1dd26f3d6009.jpg

As you can see we drew a few too many times , when we did concede on the rare occasion it was often in the last 10 minutes of a game and this shows with such a high pressure tactic sometimes the players would not be able to keep up the pace and concentration for the full 90 mins! That is something I will have to look at fixing when I attempt this challenge again!

Cup Competitions:

As you can see even though we lost on penalties to Arsenal in the FA Cup 4th Round and failed to win the Premier League we won the other 5 competitions available to us in the season

Screenshot_20200710-105231.thumb.jpg.98de1b7a5c0fe3fd09aeb1053bdc03fd.jpg

The season ended with a last gasp Salah penalty ensuring the Champions League trophy arrived at Anfield somewhat making up for the fact we were unable to achieve success in the Premier League!

Front Three Player Stats:

Screenshot_20200710-105317.thumb.jpg.47d7fa77e23d43526f4ed987c9c4aac7.jpg

Salah 35 Goals 17 Assists

Mane 32 Goals 10 Assists

Firmino 11 Goals 15 Assists

Total 120

League Points 91

Goal Difference 52

120 + 91 + 52 = Final Score of 263

Overall this was a good first attempt in my opinion and maybe a tactic that can get us a lot more goals scored in a season could be the key to getting me more points in this challenge in the future!

@RobIt was a cracking challenge but it's going to be some attempt needed for me to get anywhere near the top of that leaderboard!!!

A solid 1st attempt mate. Love the formation you chose.

I'm sure you'll do better next time. 👍

Cheers Mate , Tactic works wonders at not conceding goals but it just does not have that final product at killing games off , lots of wins were just 1-0 wins, if I'm going to get higher in the leaderboard going to need to make changes that allow my players to score more freely

Nice attempt and good looking formation that reminds me of the system we used back in the mid 90’s with three at the back.

Thank You! The formation worked so much better than I expected , I don't know if I will be able to get anywhere near your achievement though that's insane! Winning trophies and fighting for the titles is one thing but blowing away the opposition with the amount your trio scored is something else mate!

Solid attempt to start with and a neat looking formation. Love the Sweeper role although i haven't used it extensively.

Nice attempt and a great basis to work from if you fancy another attempt at it.

Thanks! Currently focusing on my Dagenham save which I have just created a career and tactic thread about BUT will defo be giving this challenge another attempt in the near future , the defence is sorted just need to find a way to make the trio more clinical in front of goal

Thanks , the formation worked so much better than I had thought to be honest , the sweeper role is needed otherwise there would be so much room behind my defensive line due to the two BPDs pushing so far forward
