Brilliant season mate, and you did score over 4 gpg in the league, your target would be 152 goals not 154. 38×4=152. Just goes to show you completely smashed it this season, congrats mate.

That's a massive season mate.  153 goals, I have never achieved something like this.

Thanks mate, neither have I. I've been able to get 120s in Scotland, but that's the top end for me. I guess there really is something to these mega attacking tactics.

I have played with them from time to time, but if I got one that worked, it was only effective for a few weeks or against certain formations or the strikers weren't scoring as much, and I always gave it up. Not sure if I lucked into something that worked this time, or this year's version is different. Maybe it's because I never tried asymmetric before? I don't know, but this is working gangbusters...

LOL, thanks mate, I guess there's a lesson here: never do important maths while drinking! How did I mess that up? 🤣

@Scratch you can be forgiven after that stormer of a season 😂

Haha, thanks mate. I can't really hide behind the drinking (I only had one beer!), so I need a better excuse and I think you've just come up with it... 🤣

I just have share this... It's nowhere near the best on Vibe (as per Woody and Ian's Record Store), but it's the best I've had for years:

image.png.cfe68de51e3d3e2f8258fb2668fca716.png

This game is a massive exception to the norm however - I usually get anything between 2-2 and 6-0. It has to be said that the poorer teams in Serie A are pretty bad, especially Cittadella. Check out the goalkeeper from this lot (and the rest of the team aren't much better):

image.png.322cdea4f5099073006bf733cb0f8ef3.png

Yep - a Serie A team fielding grey players because they don't have enough real players (they have a dozen or so, but not enough to play without greys in some positions)... Cittadella were promoted, most Serie A teams are not that weak, but you'r not going to get that in the EPL...

That’s a crazy score there, well done! I automatically thought it was the club world championships. To have it happen in Serie A is crazy, Esposito must have enjoyed that game 🤣

Superb season mate and I love the look of that tactic!
Agree with what you say about the poor teams, plenty of cannon fodder to get stuck into.

Thanks mate. Yeah, it's like something out of the CWC or when you play a very very low level team team in the early rounds of a cup.. - definitely not a Serie A team.

Thanks mate, I'm really enjoying the game a lot at the moment because of changing tactics. My guess is I'll stick with this one for a while.

I know a few people (including you I think?) told me Italy wasn't too hard to score goals in, but honestly it's much easier than I thought it was going to be, even after being told that!

The maddest part of that is only 2 CCC. Crazy how you scored 12 goals yet, according to the game should of only really scored 2 🤣

Oh, my lads don't need clear cut chances to score. Not even half chances. They'll put away anything with even a whiff of a chance... 😄

Update - Season 4

Last season was easily our best (actually it was my best ever in terms of team goals). Going into this season, the plan was to stick to the new tactic and milk it for all it was worth.

First though, some news:

three-vieris-season04-10.jpg.1e70ae64189de9117a29761338a41015.jpg

Transfers

Once again, not too many transfers this season:

Spoiler

three-vieris-season04-36.jpg.930e4ee4508caed06d2f8a77e374af09.jpg

Di Marco (LWB) and Godfrey (CD) left because of the tactic switch, meaning we had too many players in their respective positions.

Pellegrini left for the same reason, although I'd had big plans for him: number 1 LWB for Italy and number 2 at Inter behind Bailey (who had been retrained in that role). However, given he was still young and we also had Theo Hernandez, I was only playing him occasionally. He got upset about that and then again when I wouldn't transfer list him. I kept playing him for 6 months and was happy with his role, but still upset at me about the transfer thing and unwilling to sign a new contract. So I reluctantly sold him in January.

Coming in where Goretzka and Amiri to provide a little more maturity in midfield. I'm not sure how long it will be before the youngsters overtake them, but they will be useful in the meantime.

Results

We won almost everything:

  • We LOST the Euro Super Cup, going down 4-3 to Spurs despite dominating, one of the few times the tactic let us down defensively.

  • We won the Italian Super Cup, beating Napoli 1-0.

  • We won the Italian Cup, beating Juve 2-0 in the final.

  • We won the league, scoring 154 goals while letting in 26 goals, slightly better than last year.

  • We won the Champions League, beating Spurs 1-0 in the final (18 shots to 3 and 4 clear cut chances to 0).

On the ITN front, only some Euro qualifiers (but some nice ones against Andorra and Lichtenstein, etc).

Injuries and Availability

It was a terrible season for injuries. For the first time, all the players got injuries this year:

  • Pellegri had two injuries (1 month and 3 weeks).

  • Cutrone had two injuries (2 months and 3 weeks).

  • Esposito had one injury (3 weeks).

I haven't been reporting on Vignato's injuries, but he's an important part of this team and looks like he will qualify for the 5 Season Hero assists leaderboard. This year he had two injuries (2 weeks and 3 week).

We had one of the youngsters out for 8 months with a cracked skull.

And near the end of the season we had 6 first teamers out at once and I started getting messages like these:

three-vieris-season04-29.jpg.a4ea5a0f69a6f79196c9ab3de8ac6d9b.jpg

We had to draft a couple of the youngsters in earlier than expected, but we still did well as a team.

Development

Here's what they look like at the end of the season:

Esposito made it to 20 Aerial! It looks like the other two won't, although I'm happy with where they are at. Might be one more more update in them (progress is microscopically slow now).

Goals - ITN

Here's what they were like shortly after I took over (0 goals for Pellegri, 15 for Esposito and 5 for Cutroni)

  • Pellegri scored 6 goals

  • Esposito scored 6 goals

  • Cutrino scored 2 goals

Goals - Club

Here's what they scored at club level this season:

  • Pellegri scored 45 goals from 42 games

  • Esposito scored 64 goals from 45 games

  • Cutrone scored 23 goals from 46 games

Both Pellegri and Cutrone down, due to injuries, but Espositio slightly up on last year.

Totals

Note: From Season 4, numbers are given as Club + ITN = Total.

Season Pellegri Esposito Cutrone DT Total TT Total
01 20 14 20 34 54
02 40 48 33 88 121
03 61 61 31 122 153
04 45 + 6 = 51 64 + 6 = 70 23 + 2 = 25 121 146
Total 166 + 6 = 172 187 + 6 = 193 107 + 2 = 109 365/1200 474/1500

Looking Forward

Another great season. We were slightly down on club goals due to the injuries, but the addition of ITN goals almost made up for that. More of the same for next season please (well except for the injuries)...

Thanks mate. Yeah ITN should help get a bag more goals, but I've been quite enjoying not managing at ITN level. It's quite a bit more effort and makes the seasons slower. Still it's too good to pass up...

Update - Season 5

Last season was not quite our best, but I have the ITN job now and we're comfortably winning everything. Time to take it to the next level. Right?

First though, some news

three-vieris-season05-56.jpg.54a1f0bb931062f9daea4869742d29db.jpg

Well that didn't last long...

three-vieris-season05-57.jpg.9e0fe04fe2527442797dbcb7e3d4fb28.jpg

Yes, I was sacked. The Italian FA were expecting us to make the semi final of the Euros at the end of the season and France knocked us out on penalties in the quarter final:

Spoiler

three-vieris-season05-54.jpg.347b3179e3f079f41c39cdfece313489.jpg

It was one of those games where my tactic falls apart. Normally I still win those games, simply by outscoring them, but in this case France overran us and dominated.

First time I've been sacked for quite a while, so it was a bit of a shock.

Transfers

Here are the transfers for this season:

Spoiler

three-vieris-season05-40.jpg.a7cd7396b67fc333bca88e64a66ed072.jpg

three-vieris-season05-41.jpg.31576a2269b2c2d90dd62b4b69e00a5a.jpg

Only youth players coming in, but we had a few significant departures:

  • Bellerin: Had done really well for us at right back, but we had two young players who'd just reached the "play them or sell them" point, as well as Lazaro, so 28 year old Bellerin had to make way.

  • Lazaro: Well that didn't go as planned - I didn't play him quite enough and he lost his trust in me, so off he went, leaving just the two youngsters at right back.

  • Milenkovic: Underwhelmed at CD and made way for some youngsters.

  • Goretzka: He played poorly (averaging about 6.7), kept getting injured and lost a lot of attributes as a result and was quite a disappointment.

  • Colidio: My old friend, but this version was nowhere near as good as my 1KC version and he was 5th striker and not getting enough games to stay happy.

Next season is going to see us in a very interesting place, as a number of our youngsters (both academy grown and purchased) have reached the point where they look magnificent and are averaging 7+ for the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan (who are more than happy to loan them from us). We've had some bomb out, but there is a log jam of very good players coming through.

Results

We won most things this season, but missed an important one:

  • We won the Euro Super Cup, beating Arsenal 3-1.

  • We won the Italian Super Cup, beating Juve 2-1 (though we needed overtime to do it).

  • We won the Italian Cup, beating Lazio 3-0 in the final.

  • We won the league, scoring 151 goals while letting in 28 goals, slightly worse than last year.

  • We got knocked out of the Champions League on away goals by Man City at the Quarter Final stage. We could have signed Harry Kane on a free transfer, but we didn't and Man City got him instead and he hurt us with 4 goals across the two legs.

I think I have to say that was a poor season. I'm hoping to win the CL every year, which might be a little unrealistic, but I should be making it past the quarter final each year.

Injuries and Availability

For the second season in a row, I had enough injuries across the squad to trigger the injury crisis message. For our main players:

  • Pellegri had two injuries (1 month, 10 days) plus an in-game injury

  • Esposito had two injuries (2 weeks, 10 days) plus an in-game injury

  • Cutrone had one injury (10 days)

A few improvements here and there, but they are almost done now.

Assists

I haven't been highlighting assists this save, but Vignato has managed 169 over the first 5 seasons, which qualifies him for the 5 Season Hero assists leaderboard.

three-vieris-season05-49.jpg.1a3b8dc493704b40f365e057f89c7d8e.jpg

Some of you will remember that I used Vignato in my 2KC / Asssists 1KC career. He ended up with 1351 assists in that, but is getting far fewer this time around due to the tactic I'm using here spreading assists around. Still a great effort from him.

Total 237 + 23 = 260 241 + 25 = 266 133 + 4 = 137 526/1200 663/1500

Looking Forward

A fantastic season from a goals point of view, but losing the ITN job means we almost certainly won't be able to reach those numbers next season.

I guess all we can do is press on and hope that FMM has built in the Italian mentality of rehiring sacked managers...

Thanks fellas - I think technically I wasn't sacked, just told not to come in any more. They are still paying my salary (and about 4 other managers are in the same boat) and next time they sack one, they will call one of us back. That seems to be the Italian model at club level anyway. I only hope its the same for ITNs.

Ian, the expectation were to reach the semis, so if we'd won the penalty shootout, I should have been safe. But we'll never know. I couldn't get a semi, so I got the chop....
