Thank mate. I have half a mind to take this tactic to a different league and do a two player combo for the Peak Years challenge. Though I also have been thinking about a TT - I think I can move one of the players forward in this tactic to create a 3 up front tactic. Then I have an off the wall idea for the strikers. Though not sure what I'll do at this point, all just thoughts...

It’d be great to see you keep this one going, even if in the background, to see what score you do muster. It could - I mean, it will - be ridiculous.

Smashing season again, well done on the impending DT also.

Thanks mate! Turned out to be much easier than I thought. I'm sure the game is easier than ever (or maybe I just play it too much)...

Haha, yeah, but conversely the fact that I'm scoring so much makes it more appealing to stop! Can't really improve on it from here, so it's more interesting to start again in a different place or with a different tactic.

Once upon a time I found the idea of going for as big a score as possible appealing, but not so much now. Even with my 2KC, I set an ambitious goal, but once I got there I stopped, rather than push on for an extra few hundred.

Though I have to say I am genuinely enjoying Inter and Italy etc even though it's too easy. I'm half tempted to come back and play here with my next career, even though I know that would be too too too boring (so I won't do it). Anyway, still not sure what I will do. For now, just gonna finish this season...

Great season again.

Thanks mate. The next season has felt like it's been a slow start, but I think it will kick into gear sooner or later...

You aren’t far away from getting one, if not both, in the 100 Club, which would be bonkers in a DT.

Oh yeah, there was one point where I was wondering if that was a possibility, but it's just that little bit too far. I could see one of them doing it, but not both in the same season... I do wonder how this tactic would do in China for eg though.

Update - Season 10

Only 39 goals until we reach the DT mark. I guess there's probably not much suspense in whether I make that or not! But let's see how the season turned out...

Transfers

Not much business. Bailey's time was up - he was 30, we had better youngsters. I couldn't sell him, so I let his contract expire. We had a couple of good players want to leave because they wanted a new challenge, but we had enough cover for them.

We managed to win everything again (getting monotonous now):

  • We won the Euro Super Cup, beating Schalke 5-0.

  • We won the Italian Super Cup, beating Atlanta 4-2.

  • We won the Italian Cup, beating Juve 5-3 in the final.

  • We won the league, scoring 157 goals (20 fewer than last year).

  • We won the Champions League, beating Atletico 5-2 in the final.

We had quite a few injuries this season:

  • Pellegri: Finally a big one, a 4 month injury that wiped out the end of the season for him.

  • Esposito: Only a single 10 day injury for him.

  • Cutrone: Three injuries - 10 days, one month and 3 weeks (made him miss the Club World Championship).

Development

Here's what they look like at the end of the season (no degradation for Cutrone yet):

A splendid bunch...

Goals

Here are there totals from this season:

  • Pellegri scored 75 goals from 39 games

  • Esposito scored 79 goals from 53 games

  • Cutrone scored 15 goals from 44 games

three-vieris-season10-32.jpg.d92ed2391996369d07653c7ce5742230.jpg

Pellegri was the dominant striker this season and would have been close to 100 if he didn't get the big injury. Esposito was not as good as in past seasons and only picked up the tempo once Pellegri was injured. Cutrone basically struggled this year.

Totals

For Season 4 & 5, numbers are given as Club + ITN = Total.

Season Pellegri Esposito DT Total
01 20 14 34
02 40 48 88
03 61 61 122
04 45 + 6 = 51 64 + 6 = 70 121
05 71 + 17 = 88 54 + 19 = 73 161
06 81 54 135
07 73 92 165
08 71 89 160
09 89 86 175
10 75 79 154
Total 649 666 1315/1200

DT completed! It was our worst season in a while, but it was still massive, so I can't complain.

For the Goaltopia challenge: Pellegri and Esposito scored 1315, take away the 48 ITN goals, leaves 1267, plus Cutrone's 267 goals (see screenshot above), minus the 13 goals he started with (see this screenshot) and that comes to a total of 1521 goals.

Looking Forward

This has been a really enjoyable save. I've loved playing in Italy and with Inter (I'll be back), and the three lads have been great, but...

While part of me wants to keep going with this, I'm afraid a new idea has taken hold and I need to go try it. I'll keep this save handy, but unlikely I'll be back, so I'll go ahead and ask to be added the leaderboards.

Thanks to everyone who followed and commented on this career!

Awesome effort that is mate, great career and glad you enjoyed Italy!

Thanks mate, I'm so glad I tried it and that was definitely in part thanks to you saying goals were easy there (though I still can't believe how easy it is). So thank you! It felt like a really nice league, a good mix of a some big classic teams, but also the goal-fodder smaller teams. I really liked the 9 players on the bench for some reason, even though I rarely used the extra two.

There's something else that's hard to put it into words though - I always feel like playing in England is more... I don't know.. real. romantic. historic. nostalgic. I really can't explain it, it's tied into my experience with football, as well as with management games, etc. With most other leagues, I find things that I enjoy, but in the end they can't compare to England for me. But Italy is really close on that front. So I will definitely be back. Inter may be my new Celtic...

Congratulations. Some massive returns but I do understand why you don’t want to go on any further.

Thanks mate. Yeah once you have that idea to try something, it's hard to ignore (at least for me).

I could keep this save going for another 6 or 7 seasons and just play through seasons quickly, getting lots of goals, not needing much attention. Would be good to do while streaming a show or something.

But the new save is going to need me to concentrate more, finesse another tactic, build a whole team again etc. And although I think it likely that I'll end up in the same sort of 'bucket of goals', rinse and repeat space eventually, there's a decent chance I'll get sacked before I even make it that far!
