Hi, I'm new around here... I was a watcher for a while but only now I have registered. 

I dropped my phone in water so I had to get a new one, installed FMM20 and after just one season on career mode I had this challenge idea: get a team rock bottom, fill it with only players with my name and try to win everything... maybe the Champions League.

Example: My name is George Traistă so I will look for players named George and translations or derivations like Jordi, Jorge, Jiri, Jurghen, Gyorgy, Gheorghe, Giorgio and so on.

 

I will start in Vanarama South/North, with poor training and youth facilities, 1000 seats stadium, obscure reputation... rock bottom! 

I have replaced Dulwich Hamlet y as I like their colors and stadium name, Champion Hill Stadium... George Town FC, start! 

I will do this for 30 seasons, or less If I can win the Champions League in less than 30 seasosn.

First update.

 Lucky me, I found 3 free players named George, Two goalkeepers and one central midfielder... 3 down, another dozen to go 😂

As I have only 2K I will sign a lot of free agents and sell them to make so money and then I will try to sign all the Georges I can find.3 players were free agents (2 goalkeepers and one mc). 

The task is to have a starting line-up full of Georges at the first official game, I have about one month to do it.

Could you please stop changing the tag from Career to Challenges though as this is a career post. A challenge post is one where you create a challenge for other people to play whereas this is a career post as you are documenting how you get on playing a save.

I did it!! I have a team of George 😂 And is not a bad one.

On the old squad I got around 250K and flipped around other 50 players to get a grand total of 3 million. And I bought players of around 475K.

My first targets were the ones that were interested so I can be sure that I will have a starting line-up on 3rd of August, start of the season. I will say is more than decent and it will be a hard battle for promotion. Next I will focus on improving the squad with some players that are not interested but maybe they will change their minds and hopefully the board will want to improve the training facilities, maybe.

P.S. I think the current players have overrated potential, I've played before in this league and a lot of teams have full 5 stars players, I don't know how the rating system is working in Vanarama South/North.

Season 1, Part 1

It started ok-ish, with 8 points in the first 5 matches and in the meantime I had enough time to adjust the tactics and see how can I make the player rotation. Also, I have signed two extra players and one loan from Millwall (George Alexander, striker) that put some wings to the team.

 

The main competitor was Billericay who signed an entire squad from me in the pre-season, the players that I got as free agents (that had a lot of quality). Because I didn't want to keep them to get the best price, I wanted to flip it quickly so I can build my squad, they got a super squad at a discount... in the direct match they had they all first eleven from me, plus two substitutes. On 28 of September I won at home with Chippenham and moved to the first place, since then I never left first place but Billecary is in my back! At the first of January they are still tie with my team, 52 points.

And about the transfers, on 1st of December there were still few players leftovers in the reserve squad that I could't sell so the board told me that they don't like my transfer strategy :))

 

 

There are around 110 players in the whole game, this season, that are named George (or derivates: Yuri, Jordi, Jorge, Giorgiou, Georgian etc) so i'ts hard to get players and I'm over spending on almost every transfer, I need to meet the expectation price... a George is a George so I have to pay up!

Season 1, Part 2

Mission Accomplished

 

It all went neck-n-neck with Billericay until our direct match, since then the gap between us got larger and I won the league 3 games before it ended... but we will see soon as they promoted from pay-off.

 

My strikers did a kind off well job, the loaned player from Millwall finished first in only 24 games because the last 12 games it didn't play. I refused to go with him as Millwall wanted 2.2 million for him... at the start of the season the price tag was only 300k but I could't affort him then so... I opted to go with my strikers asI knew I will win the league.

 

In the meantime, my Polish-Spanish defender got his first cap for the Poland senior team and he also will feature in the euro championship squad. I have a feeling that he will develop nicely, in the last 12 games it was in the starting line-up.

 

As for the transfers, I will have a new DL, on bosman from Manchester United, a 20 years old George Tunner. With 2-3 players I can say we can battle for play-offs in the Vanarama National League.

Also on bosman I signed around 40 players that I hope I can flip for 3-4 million.

Season 2, Part 1

Is 2020 and Italy is the new queen of Europe.

 

In the pre-season I have signed Ashley Nathaniel-George, last season the media had the target on him blaming him for the team poor form and because he didn't get along with his manager so I could get him for a good price.

As the seasons started I was thinking that with some luck I can get into the paly-offs. On the first match, as usual, 1-0 with York but then, Wrexham killed me with 3-1 and also killed my mojo.

But after the Wrexham game I have signed another defender, George Fowler, and everything wen smooth and at the end of october I was on the first place.

 

October was a superb month and I had to decline some offers for two players. A new contract fixed the issue.

In the FA Cup I have used the backup players and I saw a quick exit after a 4-0, no problem, we have the league and the FA Trophy. In fact, november wasn't a good month as we lost with Fylde after a game that we have dominated but we also scored the only goal, an own goal.

 

2021 finds us on top of the table with a comfortable advantage.

On the transfermarket we made a profit of 3.8 million, only spending 150k.

Season 2, Part 2

The easiest part so far, I could complete half of season in few hours as the gap between me and the rest was huge, no injuries, everything went smooth. I started to take interest in FA Trophy because, why not, I can afford to send the backup players in the league :))

 

My main striker never saw a cup match until march and still managed to score 6 goals in 3 cup matches and 47 goals in 41 league matches, totaling to a whooping  53. The other two strikers managed 14 and 15 goals in the league, not bad!

 

I have already signed a goalkeeper and a really good AML on free so with just 2-3 players I can battle again for promotion from League Two. The bad part is that I already "consumed" around 35% of all Georges in the game, let's hope some new players will pop when I move up in the league system, other players from other leagues like Bundesliga, La Liga and so on, or maybe one wonderkid... or wonder george!

Fylde remained the only team in the league that I couldn't win against as we made a draw at home and lost on away.

Total transfer profit 4.0 million

Spoiler, yes, I got the first "WonderGeorge" 😁

I had to appeal the work permit twice but I got it for a good price, 350k!

Sadly I have used over 50% of all Georges in the game so far and I could say that what I have now is the peak of what I could get (price and club reputation), for now.

Season 3, Part 1

Maybe you noticed I had one player named Georgiou, was an english-cypriot player that was insecure as personality, it was in fact a insecure pussy that was always over relaxed, over confident and afraid that I might replace him every time I was looking for another AML, AMR or ST... And I have replaced him with George Cooper, an AMLR on bosspan and also signed an goalkeeper named Georgiou

In the mean time, I have signed, also on free transfer, one ST named George Hirst that at the first glance is better than my beloved George Lloyd... that had a great injury with only 7 days before our first match... 2 months.

 

The season started, as usual, with a 1-0 win.

 

Sadly, on the 3rd match, George Hirst was out, one month... so for a while I had to rely on my old strikers. That's why is heaven to have a good squad depth.

 

The entire first half of the season went super so I had to deny few offers and Nathaniel-George decide to copy his former team mate Georgiou, and to feel special... don't worry boy, You will leave at the end of the season.

Right now I'm writing about part two of the season but before I finish, see this: when your name is George, doesn't matter for what team you play for, you will always score for George Town FC!

Season 3, Part 2

The second part of the season went so good that I won the league 7 games before the end of it... but I fear that this is the calm before the storm. Let me explain: I could have billions as transfer funds and wage budgets, I can't sign any player that I can insert in the first 18 (start line-up and substitutions) as the club reputation is only one star... most of the clubs in the Vanarama South/North have one and half stars as club reputation... maybe on the next season  I will equalize those clubs.

 

The team made wonders and at the end of the season I was named Manager of the Year and on the Player of the Year we had 3 players, 3 out of 3... and we olso had the best two strikers in the league; TOTAL DOMINANCE!

 

Maybe both strikers could have more goals but they had one big injury at the start of the season and one at the end of the season so each of it went on to play only 35/36 games.

 

Transfers: We made a good profit of 6 million this year (8 million sold players and only spent 2 million). For the next year we signed on free (released from Chelsea) a new striker, George Nunn) and hopefully we can get few others (maybe a new WonderGeorge to continue our good run towards Premiere League... and Champions League.

And about WonderGeorge, Jorge Soares de Paulo is most of the times in "development has plateaued" mode so I hope that the new league can change that, because I constantly need to keep on eye on him.

Season 4, Part 1

A new season, a new 1-0 on the first match of the season... looks promising. George Alexander is the guy that I had on loan on my first season, I needed a striker and he was the best I could afford and wanted to sign, 900k... and looks good already!

 

But it wasn't... 4 points in the first 5 matches! The problem was that I had poor depth of squad

1. Natahniel-George (I didn't sold him, yet) got a 4 months injury in July so I had no good backup player for AMR (Nathaniel was AMRL) and a ok-ish AML.

2. That turned the new signed George Honeyman into a retrained AMR so no backup for MC... it's a mess.

My luck turned around with Jiri Skalak (Jiri is George in Czech) so Honeyman went back to MC and that meant I had finally good backup players all round, it's vital when you have few periods with matches each 3 days (League One, Leasing Trophy, FA Cup).

On Leasing Trophy and FA Cup I have played mostly with backup and rotation players so in the league I had a good run which saw me climbing to play-off spots at the end of December.

About the FA Cup, you can't beat as if you ground is named King George's Field, we are the Georges!

 

You remember Georgiou and Nathaniel-George that went on and on that they want to a better club or that they are afraid of me replacing them... well, after a good run in October I had to decline some offers and the AMR-MC Honeyman and AML Cooper had a go at being a bitch... it's something wrong with the attacking midfielders...

December got me some presents, I have discovered two new Georges: Jorge Salas-AML Wonderkid and Jorgen Odegaard-Promomising MC, very promising.

Jorge Salas set me back 5 million, the biggest transfer fee so far by a big margin, Jorge Segura was the biggest so far on 1.4 million. Jorgen Odegard only 350k, a bargain.

 

And about Jorge Segura, he went on to play at the world cup, 4 matches as Colombia got second place in their group and then lost with Italy. Spain was crowned the winner of the Qatar World Cup 2022

Season 4, Part 2

It finished like this....

But my god was the hardest part so far... I was dumb! I was so confident with the new kids (Salas and Odegaard) that I have sold few players and... disaster struck: after just two games, Salas (AML) out for 4 months. In march Odegaard (MC) was out for 3 months. In april Govea (DL) out for 4 months plus other 2 weeks to one months injuries from Hirst (FC), Honeyman (MC), Georgiou (GK), Ntep (AMR), Skalak (AMRL) and Nunn (FC & AMRL). It was horror, at one time I only had two substitutes, on GK and one DRC...

 

But still managed to have a sweet run of 11 games in row only wins and one draw, winning in the process against Ipswich (1st place), Wigan (2nd), MK Dons (4th), Doncaster (5th), Exeter (7th) and Portsmouth (9th) and a draw with Luton (6th place). The good run stopped with a loosing game against 17th place Shrewsbury and then with Carlisle (21st).

 

I would say my boys have bottled the direct promotion because after the Ipswich game we were just 3 point behind Wigan. After those two loses we had another good run of 7 games and, when we were just one point behind Wigan, we had a terrible run of 4 games without a win (2D and 2L) so at the end we had to battle through play-offs. In the semis we killed Coventry (with the traitor George Dowling as a started) with 4-1 and 1-0 and in the final we hammered Luton, 6-0!!

 

George Alexander made the 900k spent on him look like a bargain, 29 goals in 29 league games. BTW, see the guy on third place? I want him! Jordi/Jordy is the used in Catalonia and the Netherlands for George, it's damn good and for 2-3 million will be mine.

Is basically 4-4-2 with the central defenders as central defenders or ball playing defender, when I think is suited. The left and right defenders are always on wing-back. The central midfielders act as box to box or ball winning. The side midfielders are in fact attacking midfielders that act as inside forward. The two strikers are one target man and one advanced forward or pocher, depending on the opposition defenders. The shape is set to norrow and most of the times is on attacking but when I play with stronger teams I tend to start as counter and change to attacking on the second half.

Mostly yes! If you have ok-ish players, put the offside trap on. On the attack page, I use early crosses and shoot on sight but that will depend on how you train your players.

Well done! Now you need to understand the players and train them to fit your needs. I always retrain some players and about the tactics, sometimes I change formations in the middle of the game.

Season 5, Part 1

First of all, England has finally won something, the International League... It's something 😀

 

Second, I have a new WonderGeorge (1.7M from Shakhtar Dontetk), the third one! All three are called Jorge: Jorge Soares de Paulo (DR), Jorge Salas (AML) and now Jorge Ichazo (CD). In fact, the team started with almost all players as George but now half of them are Jorge (spanish name) or Jordi/Jordy (Catalonia & Netherlands). I also signed another 15 years old George Tait (CD) from Celtic (220k) that is ok-ish, maybe he will develop in the future.

 

The season didn't start as usual, with the traditional 1-0 win. No, it started with a 3-1 losing game against PL veteran loaded Southampton: Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Granit Xhaka, Dany Ings, Ryan Bertrand, Jannik Vestergaard and many more.   

 

But after this defeat, we killed every team so at the start of the september we were on 1st place... for only one game. We lost then 2 matches but we kept close, going up and down but never left the play-off places.  The rest of the year went without anything major, on the 1st of January we stand on 3rd place behind Cardiff and Norwich, just few points behind.

You will see in the next screenshots one guy called Jordi Vloet, is from The Netherlands, and I've tried 3 transfer windows to get him from Sevilla, the club always accepted my offer but he didn't want to come, until now, just few days before the closing day, 8M, the biggest transfer fee so far... but it's damn good of a player!

Top of the Europe... I hope! I hand a plan to keep the challenge for as long as it takes until I win the Champions League but I have a feeling that will never happen because I'm running out of players and I can improve them just as they are set to be. So... I will keep the challenge for 10 seasons straight and hopefully I will achieve my goal.

 

BTW, I have posted the challenge in the challenge thread, just in case somebody is mad (and narcissist) enough to try it out 😀

Season 5, Part 2

2024 started beautiful with a 4-0 away win Sheffield United and then a sweet revenge against Southampton that saw me make the jump to 1st place.

... I'm not taking into account the FA Cup match against Manchester City, as always, I have used the backup and rotation players as the cup is not important for me, my gol is to get to prem so I can battle for Champions League.

After Southampton came another win and then the "let's bottle the promotion" begun: only one win in 7 matches and 2 loses and 4 draws. After the Brentford match the media was on fire against two of my players, George Nunn (ST) and Jordi Govea (DL) and, maybe, because I have responded to the comments in a good manner, the boys got their shit together and delivered a stunning 8-1 win against QPR and from then everything went smooth so with few games before the end of the league we could celebrate the promotion to Premier League... or Divison, I don't like to use the fake names from the game.

P.S. Bristol City played poorly the last few matches and Southampton went on to on to win the second place, and Cardiff won the play-offs.

 

Jordy Hiwula delivered 39 golas to win the top goalscorer so the 2.5M that I spent on him was worth the spoil.

Have you ever thought: Holly s.#!t, I'm f#@ked?

Started the new season in the Premier League/Division and I have received the team report, and on the squad depth the hell broke... I'm used to have a green squad, and, I know that player rating will change when you promote into a higher league but my god I had a semi hearth attack when I saw the squad full orange.

 

Yes, 3 starts is more that ok in prem, and I still have few good players of 3 starts with 3.4 stars potential, even have 2 players with 5 stars potential but I fear that this will not be enough to beak into the first 4 places, maybe 6-7 place!? And I can't say I will improve a lot trough transfers as there are only a handful of players that can brake into the first XI and most of them won't sign with my team.

 

So far, I've signed George Dobson (MC) from Sunderland for 5M and a player worth 1.5M and Bjorn Engles (CD, Bjorn is the icelandic variant of the nordic/germanic Jorn) from Aston Villa for 3.6M.
