Season 6, Part 1

Before we had any official matches, we had the Euro and Copa America. France got revenged for the lost World Cup 2 years ago and over the Atlantic Chile smashed Argentina with 5-1.

 

This season was back to our traditional 1-0 so we got our first 3 point with Fulham, could have been a bigger win but... a win is a win! We had ups and downs and near the Christmas we broke into the first 4 places with a 5-0 away win against Liverpool and we also had few other good matches, one was against my beloved Arsenal... As on 1st of January we are still on 3rd place with one less game.

 

This  is funny, I never saw something like this, my CD WonderGeorge is intimidated by prem games and we have the same problem over and over: Development has plateaued! The only wonderkid that didn't had this problem so far is AMRL Jorge Salsa that I had spent 5M on it, so maybe that's why he was so expensive...

From time to time I take a quick look to my grey-out players from the reserve team and today I found this little guy, a George!! A Jordy, but is the same thing  I will offer a contract and I have cup match so he can play one match to enter George Town FC history!!

Season 6, Part 2

The France vs. Spain battle was once again in a final, this time for the International League.

 

The League

The first two months went on without anything major but March was hell, mini injury crisis v.2, at one time I had exactly 18 players as Legg (second choice GK) had a 6 months injury, Vloet and Alba (is Jordi Alba, the guy from Barcelona, I got him on loan for 6 months and he planned to retire after this season) had two consecutive injuries of one month, Tait had 3 months and Hiwula and Skalak had 2 months each. 

But April was a hit and after 35 games we were equal with city at 68 points but with a better GD (I forgot to make a screenshot). But May was a little bit different and my boys decided that they want to bottle the tittle and we draw 2-2 against 18th place Bournemouth. Gameweek 37 we crushed Spurs and in the final gameweek we faced Arsenal and City had a tough game at home with 4th place Leeds... they won 2-0, we won 2-1 but was not enough, we lost the tittle... But hey, next year we're gonna have Champions League football, yuhuuu!!!

 

The Cup, FA Cup

Usually I'm using rotation and backup players in the cup (FA Cup and Carabo) and we see a quick exit but somehow, those players managed a 3-1 with Norwich in the quarterfinal and a spectacular 3-0 against Liverpool in the semis, on their ground. The board was kind enough to give me some transfers money because they liked the performance, 210K :)))))

 

So, we bottle the league, can we win the cup? NO! We lost at the penalty shootout.... 

 

Something funny before I put some highlights: Everton made me a offer of 4.1M, yes 4 million for Vloet who's value is now 32.5M. I think they wanted to send 41M but somehow they added the dot.

 

The awards at the end of the year... plus Vloet was again in the World XI

Season 7, Part 1

I've made few transfers, Jorge(DL) from Norwich for 7.25M, Georgi Bibishkov (MC) for 25.5M and a fellow romaninan from Lille OSC, Gheorghe Pițurcă (20M) that is an AMC but I got him as is also dark green to ST, AMR, AML and MC and he got good attributes so he will be my joker that will play whereever I need him, so I will try to retrain him on all those positions. And because we don't have new Georges, that means there are just 2 players good enough that I want them but... Jiri Plavenka is GK marginally better than my goalkeeper so I won't splash the cash on him and Jorge Bastos from Juve (Zebre) that is an AMR, the same position as Vloet who is a superstar, so Bastos would be the second choice... Zebre is asking 148M, they have refused this offer:

As my goal is Champions League, I had to change focus between the league and the CL. At the beginning of the season we focused on the league and went super good, we were always on 2nd behind Manchester United... yes, United, the team that dominated the game and now they are just another team in the PL.

Oh, in the mean time, I'm the new manager of Australia NT. Why? Just for fun, I never managed a NT so I wanted to experiment... I played Football Manager for the first time in 2008 and since then I had the PC versions for 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013 and the mobile version on 2012 so I have some experience but never ever managed a NT. Also I have installed the logo pack so from now on I will have decent logos.

So, back to results. In the begining I had the focus on PL but then I had to switch to CL and I got 3 out of 3 (5-0 vs Slovan, 3-0 vs Monaco and 4-0 vs CSKA Moscow) and knowing I will win the group I made the switch back to PL and only managed 2 draws (2-2 vs CSKA Moscow and 1-1 vs Monaco) and one win(1-0 vs Slovan)... enough to win the group and I will play against Lyon in the knockout stages, in February.

On 3rd of December my beloved Arsenal made me a present and managed to climb on the 1st place but a bad game against Fulham saw me back behind of United at 1st of January.

 

Last year, Jordi Vloet was on World Best XI, now I have a new star, Jorge Salas. BTW, the offers started to came in for some players and I need to pump money to wages... it's ok, for now.

Season 7, Part 2

The League

No matter how good, or bad, we were, United kept on us and stayed on the 1st position until mid April when they lost against Liverpool and we won against Wolves, and then we marched on... the result, crowned king of England with one match before finish.

 

The cups, mostly Champions Cup

In the FA Cup we were a disaster, almost losing to L1 team Forest Green and save by a late goal from Hiwula so we had a reply at home where we won 4-1. In the first round the players redeemed themselves by winning against last year winners, Chelsea, 1-0 at home. And after a good game, here comes 0-0 with CH Middlesbrough and losing, again, at penalty shootout. EXIT

 

In the Champions League we faced Lyon and after 1-2 away, we won with the same score at home... and then we won our first penalty shootout!! Next, PSG: so we faced Monaco in the group stage and Lyon and PSG on the knockout stage, basically we faced all the french teams in the competition. PSG was a rock, see the report.

  

I still don't know how we pulled this off and after 0-0 on their turf we managed a 2-1 win at home to advance to semis.

 

In the semis was easy, 2-0 win with Napoli and 1-1 on away saw us advance to the final against Juve (Zebre)... no Cristiano Ronaldo, he has retired few years ago.

 

An we f@$^%&&ing won it!

As this self challenge was about winning the Champions league, I think I will stop it but I will keep the save, just in case. Challenge complete!

Some funny, weird, intresting things:

The transfer offers poured in and I had to decline a lot of big offers.

 Vloet wanted to move so many times that I had to talk to him few times, it turns out you need to have this type of discussions 2 weeks apart, minimum.

If you play in the Champions League final, no matter if you win it, you will play in the Club World Championship

I will get a new stadium, the old one got expanded few times, from 1000 seats to 4k, to 8k to 15k to 25k.

This is a weird request, I never saw one as I tend to play mostly with younger players. After few weeks I have received the first update and he is doing excellent progress.

As australia manager we had a friendly with Romania (maybe you noticed, I'm from Romania). Romania's goals were scored by George Puscas who was later subbed off by Laurentiu Traistă (not a real player)... you got it? By the way, with australia be beat Costa Rica and god smashed by France in the World Cup group stage. Moved on and beat Ivory Cost and we are due to play against Argentina.

I have compiled a list of all the players that I've used. In those 7 season, I found 132 players that had the correct name and I've used 71, so more than half.
