Career (Complete) My attempt at the Goaltopia Challenge.

Recommended Posts

So as you may know I was attempting a Triple Threat, but recently Foxy and Ian were nice enough to make a new challenge that could be done with three players in a two striker formation, I had to call it a day as Paulinho played his final game for us, he wouldn't reconsider retirement so with that said, here is my attempt.

The Players at the end:

Spoiler

  • Vinicius started to decline around 31 years old, but he was fantastic throughout
  • Paulinho looking a little bit worse for wear, he was backup to Vini and Rod for the whole career and never got anywhere near the level of the others
  • Rodrygo at 33 still looking brilliant, only started to decline in the final season

Trophy Cabinet:

Won the league every season, plenty of domestic Cups too. Europe was another story altogether, just 4 CL trophies, I think we made at least the semi finals every season, just couldn't get the job done from there most seasons.

Manager statistics:

3.22 gpg over 15 seasons, not much else to see here.

Paulinho: 601 games. 335 goals.

Total: 2005 games. 1856 goals.

Thanks to @Foxy and @Ian for creating this challenge, could you put me on the three player leaderboard please.

Well done, a brilliant career.

I didn’t have anything to do with creating the new challenge though but I do really like it.

😂😂 Sorry Ian meant to thank Rob, cheers for kind words, I had a lot of fun doing this career, it made FMM enjoyable again for me

Cheers Rob and thanks for creating this, really enjoyed FMM, challenges are definitely the way to go, I used to manage club after club and it got boring

I used to be the same back in the day. Challenges are so much fun.

Great work mate, that's an excellent score.

I find it interesting that some players decline sooner than others. Did Vinicius Junior get a few injuries or something? Or is it just straight up age related?

Totally agree challenges are the way to go, would be very hard to play the straight up these days. Maybe it's okay for new players, but once you've been doing this for a while it's all too easy!

He had a few injuries throughout, him and Paulinho had injuries, Rodrygo very rarely, so it makes sense for him to be the best attributes wise at the end

Yeah that makes sense. I've had some players who degrade as young as 28 because of multiple injuries and the very long time it would take them to earn the attributes back - then once they get to 30ish, they stop coming back at all, so each injury is a downgrade..

Yeah it sucks, cause Vini was hitting higher goal numbers than Rodrygo for the first few seasons, but the injuries caught with him and Rodrygo took over, I probably couldve squeezed a few more goals from Vini, but injuries affected that. That being said they did both play 702 games for me, (this was not done on purpose, but its a cool coincidence)
