Nice season mate, He’s done great to score more than he’s played, really good going, you should have this next two seasons I reckon! Looking forward to seeing how many games it takes to get there 😁

Tonali back at the club in a straight swap with Zaniolo which i was happy with as Pedri was now brilliant after half a season on loan with Man City.

Not as successful as we struggled to create enough chances, I do however think I’ve settled on a tactic to go for the 1k challenge, I think Brewster stats are actually so average which I’m gutted about still tbh. Thought he would have improve a bit. So many good crosses go in.

Rhian Brewster

Be lovely to get 50 next season but I can’t see that happening, I’m actually very happy with how many he’s got considering he hasn’t improved. Here’s to next season and a magic 50 maybe?

Good Luck @Aaron Thornton 😁

Season 6:

With Dave's Brewster really starting to fire and making the last few seasons a real nail biter, Dom needed to keep up his own form of scoring well, here's how he done:

Tactic:

Screenshot_20201011_023621_com_sega.soccer.thumb.jpg.58ba41702335a42e2c988db7c2653ce0.jpg

New system focused on overloading the wings while keeping a solid core hopefully leading to a strong defence allowing our attack to express themselves at the same time, that's the idea anyway.

Transfers:

In:

Screenshot_20201011_023508_com_sega.soccer.thumb.jpg.248f19e34bdef96cf5a5b537d139b29c.jpg

Camavinga arrives for a hefty fee to add even more quality to the middle of the park, Hoever and Vinagre come in to sure up the wingback spots. Ghoulam, a future star, possibly Mahrez regen

Out:

Screenshot_20201011_023520_com_sega.soccer.thumb.jpg.9015c5824cfd7da118455d43fab6cd01.jpg

Okafor and Ramos leave after not living up to their potential, Willem and Hateboer were the wrong side of thirty and starting to decline rapidly, I was sad to see Lascelles leave but injuries ruined what was once a great player and partner to McKenna in defence.

  • We win the league by 3 points over Man City, finally breaking their dominance
  • We win the Community Shield on penalties (4-3) after the scores were level at 1-1
  • We agonisingly lose the CL on pens (4-3) vs Real Madrid
  • We win the EFL Cup 1-0 vs Spurs in a cagey affair
  • An off-day throughout the team leads to a 3-1 defeat vs Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup

This season was a huge sigh of relief, finally some trophies, the tactic we changed too was the polar opposite of what we used before, advertising perfectly that 'Defence Wins Championships'

34 goals in 32 games! An injury stricken season (that I forgot to screenshot 🤦‍♂️) Dominic managing to score over 1 GpG in a new system was a pleasing total for me.

Games: 192

Goals: 214

Goals needed: 47

One 47 goal season would be enough and with Dave needing a 50 goal season this is going to be extremely tight, till next time, thanks for reading and good luck Dave for season 7.

He’s doing great for you mate, you’ve found a system that works for him, great stuff. If he stays fit you could get this next season! I may have a change in the way I set up next season 😁

Not a bad season but we were not at it early doors and a change in a few things to my tactic from February on really pushed us on except for Schalke having our pants down 😁

Premier League Goals Left To Score - 5

Well you know the change in tactic found a big amount of goals go to Brewster but he only got the plus 1 in his Aerial in March and it made a difference, we went in to the final two league games with him on 45 so just 5 to go. But he didn’t score in either of the last games🙈

Season 8

We needed 5 goals this season and we managed it in the first games.

So yeah it took me 263 games to get there, it was an enjoyable one and I think I will attempt again, mostly down to the fact that Brewster plateaued right from the beginning and just couldn’t get to the point where he should be.

Over to you @Aaron Thornton, good luck to you, I’ve enjoyed the challenge against you 😁

Season 7:

Let's get into this:

Screenshot_20201011_171923_com_sega.soccer.thumb.jpg.36baa77ac9958a025429def7dbc945ff.jpg

A bit of good news to start the season, a new stadium next season and who else was I going to honour the ground with but our new Alan Shearer, not the most creative name but I kept the pride of the names structure, just changing one name to another. Would we ever get to play at our new ground? We'll have to wait and see.

Transfers:

In:

My first ever experience with Facundo Pellistri and he was sensational, arriving from Villarreal for £96 mil. The other two signings were regens and would a bit part role at the club.

McNeil leaves after a few unremarkable seasons, we offload the last of the Longstaff brothers, Sean jetted off to Austria, Angelino slowing dropped down the pecking order at LWB and eventually left this year, Bentaleb was a terrific servant throughout the last 7 years, bought for peanuts at the start of Season 1.

  • We win the league, 26 points clear of Liverpool and Man United (Man City's dominance of England is long gone now)
  • We beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the CWC
  • We lost the Community Shield on penalties to Man United after a pretty dull 90 minutes
  • PSG were far too strong for us the Parc Des Princes, beating us 3-0 and we could only manage a 2-2 draw at home (losing 5-3 on aggregate)
  • Arsenal put an end to our EFL Cup hopes, beating us 2-1 at the Emirates
  • Chelsea end our FA Cup hoeps this time, beating us 1-0 with us having the better game but not converting

Just two trophies this year, some very disappointing performances in the cups, but we brought home some silverware, so can't be too harsh on them.

This was his end of season form, scoring 13 goals in the last 8 PL games, he played out of skin to try to wrap up the challenge this season, but the question remains, did he manage it?

Spoiler

AbsoBLOODYlutley!!! 47 Goals in 38 Games, that goal against Chelsea on the final day of the season wrapped up the challenge, he was on 34 goals after 30 games, then its almost like he knew he was emulating the great Alan Shearer and took it to a new level for the final 8 games, brilliant stuff Dominic. Love it!

Games: 230

Goals: 261

Goals needed: 0

So happy with how that final season ended, when he got that goal vs Chelsea, I celebrated out loud and my housemate asked me What the f*ck is wrong with you? 😂 He will never understand as he doesn't play FMM no matter how many times I recommend he tries it.

Big thanks to @RichD for the battle, extremely close throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed it. @Jsavfc could you add this to the leader board please, I couldn't quite manage to topple the leader board, missing out by 4 games but had a blast doing it.

What a way to finish it off mate, great stuff from Dominic, he’s done you proud! Really good challenge, was good fun to play. With you screaming out and your house mate hearing, reminds me of many situations I’ve been in with this game 🤣

Already on to my next challenge!

Thanks mate yeah he was fantastic, I definitely had the advantage with player choices, Calvert lewin was already pretty established but the hype around him IRL right now pulled me into using him, anyway I really enjoyed battling with you, good luck with your new challenge.

I somehow missed this one after being really excited by the idea of following it in the beginning, but I've just spent 30 minutes going through and great job to both of you. Amazing that it was so tight all the way through, only a few games in it!

I think you were a bit hard done by @RichD, you got a lemon with that version of Brewster - he was downgraded a lot in the winter DB, but all the same he must have come out as the worst version of that. Still that made it a little bit more interesting!

But that doesn't take anything way from the great victory from @Aaron Thornton. Great stuff mate, espeacially considering the injuryies. Congrats on the win!
