Career Lower League & Freebies: Single, Double, Triple Trouble

Hello,

I'm back on my favorite type of play, lower league career with a bunch of free players. And maybe this is my last challenge until FMM21, an challenge idea from @Kun Aguero where "you will be trying to build your deadly trio one by one, moving from a "One Upfront" tactic to "Two Upfront" and finally "Three Upfront".

 

Challenge Accepted

As I don't have any favorite clubs in England's lower league I just got on random... and the phone chose York City FC. A good one as they have good training facilities but also a bad one as they are already over the wage budget with around 1k and only 4k in the bank.

 

The first weapon is Anthony Spyrou, 19 years of age from England. It was a hard choice to make as there are also few other good players as strikers like Jamie Thomas, Luca Navarro or Mickey Drennan. I did choose Spyrou in the end as he is young, good attributes and was the only one "specialized" as Advanced Forward and I had the plan for a Target Man or Advanced Forward... sorry J. Thomas!!

 

My target for this challenge is to spend 0 money on players so I will rely 100% on free transfers and to get 300 points... every player needs to get me 50 points (goals + assists) per season and I will say I'm satisfied!

Season 1, Single Trouble

 

On my first two careers in FMM21 I've played a tactic with a single striker and one shadow striker but I wouldn't like to use now as he would get too many goals from Spyrou portion so I've opted to use a Attacking, Narrow, Fast Tactic with 2 FB, one CD and one BPD on the back, and 5 men in the midfield, 2 AM on the side acting as wingers(no inside forwards), 2 AP and one BBM right in the middle... I love this role and Fane is one hell of a good player for this . Fane, Buckley-Ricketts, Neufville, Osadebe and maybe Pereira I'm sure that they will stay in my team all the way these 3 seasons, great players and they will sign for peanuts.

 

And if I've spoke about players, I've signet a s#!t load of them and sold also a lot. Profit 1.6M... for a VNN I think is more than perfect. All the money I've made will be used for wages, staff and facilities improvements.

Competition wise, we have dominated VNN and we picked FA Trophy in the process. In FA Cup we lost in the first round against League One side Portsmouth, only 1-0 at home.

Anthony "The trouble maker" Spyrou

I always put my players on stamina training in the first season until they get to 16-18 so they can hold on to many minutes and many matches. Anthony got 51 matches and only missed few because of a small injury. He did finish with 49 goals in the league, miles away from the second place.

I will start the next transfer batch tomorrow and I hope to get a good Poacher... I already signed on bosman few players and I'm waiting 30th of June to come to the club.

I think I'm going to give this 1-2-3 challenge a try and see how it goes. I have done a lot of VNN/VNS saves and that list of signings bring back a lot of memories. I think the only guys you missed that I sign often are Tyrell Warren, Chiori Johnson and Davis Keillor-Dunn.

Well, I must confess that I've never signed those and now that I've searched for them it looks like I will never as they have a contract at the beginning of the game...

In fact I think I have signed once Keillor-Dunn, the name sounds familiar.

I have a winner! 

This season I got some good strikers and the competition for the place on the front two was harder than last season when the place was disputed between Anthony Spyrou and Jamie Thomas. 

This year I had 4 good contenders: Bojan Radulovic, Luke Charman, David Parkhouse and Rekeil Pyke and in the end I have chosen Parkhouse as he is young with cool key attributes as shooting and pace and with good potential. Radulovic was maybe better at potential but I need it to be good also this season so, the winner...

A really good start to an unconventional career, you do go above and beyond always 😂 love that you've gone for a Northern Irish fella, I hope he does us proud. I can't say I've ever heard of him though. But after doing some digging, he's owned by Sheffield United IRL and he grew up just an hours drive away from where I live.

He did great, or I'm satisfied with his performance, he exceeded the 50 points (goals+assists) I want from him. I did finish the second season yesterday but I'm stuck with a big project that I need to complete in short time that I didn't had time to post, I will take some time to post it until Monday.

Season 2, Double Trouble

As a rule of thumb, most of my players get at least one retrain and last season was no different and I'm so glad I did it as this season I didn't get good defenders. aLast season I had 4 on the back, this season is a transition one so I only had 3 on the back BPD - CD - BPD and the full backs from last season are now great as BPD. The extra slot available went on to assign it to the second trouble maker, David Parkhouse.

 

Oh, and before I move on with the usual transfers, competitions and so on, check out this game!!!! A plucky club from 5th tier of English football to kill the all mighty Liverpool!

 

Transfers, we did get some cool players but sadly, most of them fall behind the starts from last year so I had to sell. At the end of the season we had a profit of 3.4M... money that helps but the board won't improve my training facilities and I hate it. Some players that I've kept are Daniel Ballard, Jason Lakilo, Stefan O'Connor, Giovanni McGregor, and Olly Dyson.

Season 3, Triple Trouble

This transfer windows didn't get me the type of player I wanted for my front three, I wanted a Complete Forward so I had to chose from two ok-ish Poachers, both players new for me as I didn't signed before in any career: George Thomas and Ben Morris and after some thinking I did go with the later, they were simillar and Ben inspired more confidence because of his personality.

 

Did I made the right decision? I don't know, George Thomas was Ben's rotation and had few good games and Ben had some bad games after January when he wanted a move... I've told him that I will let him go at the end of season.

And Ben is not the only one who wanted to go badly, Spyrou wanted to go and I've sold him at the beginning of the season with the transfer making effect at the end of season.

 

Transfers, I got few good player like Luke Amos, TJ Eyoma, Jordan Davies or Klass-Jan Struijik who is a young GK with superb potential.

As profit 2.4M so I had a lot of money in the bank but the board still refused to improve the training facilities...

Competitions, as usual we have dominated the league, leasing Trophy we lost against Sunderland in the Northen semis and in FA Cup we faced... Liverpool, again. This time we couldn't make a surprise and lost with 2-0 at home.

Yes, on the pitch Ben was on the left as Poacher, Anthony in the middle as Advanced Forward and David as poacher on the right... so BAD

2 weeks injury for Anthony with 4 games missed because of that. Spyrou he improved his score from last year by one point!

Ben Morris, Ben10 - he had number 10 on the shirt 

He did start really good but from January he had two patches of bad games with 0 goals or assists, around 10-12 games in total.  Is the only one who didn't get me the expected 50 points, only 45... Ben?
