Tactics Ashez and Foxy Gegenpressing in FMM2020

I take no credit for this tactic. All credit goes to @Ashez & @FuddledFox give the article a read, you won't be disappointed, despite being originally created two years ago, all of what is said still applies today. So in depth and a must read for anyone who wants a better understanding of how the game works and if you just want to play the rock and roll football we've all become accustom too with everyones favourite German, Jurgen Klopp. 

 

I wanted to give the tactic a go with FMM20 drawing to a close, I thought I'd put this tactic in the limelight so that you may want to try it yourself now or come FMM21. 

 

I used Liverpool to test the tactic as they are the inspiration for it being created in the first place. To no one's surprise it is very labour intensive and you will find your players tire much quicker and more often than most if not all tactics out there. To counter act this I had two squads and then a handful of versatile backups who could fill in wherever and whenever required.

 

Some top drawer additions mixed nicely with mid tier players who fitted many roles in the team. 

This was my main team, plenty of quality all over. 

And my second team, still possesses some great players as well some mid tier players that can do a job. 

Me and Andreas keeping up the fitness levels, Klopps real life right hand man, Peter Krawietz stuck around and Inglethorpe would aid the youngsters with Pep Lijnders keeping the spirit high. 

 

How we performed:

All but the Caramel Cup was conquered, where we did have the better of the game v City but we couldn't score. 

Strong defense, roughly conceding 1 every 4 games, scoring over 2. Our two losses was that 1-0 defeat to City and also a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the PL. 

As you can see from the apps of most to least, the rotation was aggressive, everyone getting plenty of minutes, the Ox made just 17 because of an injury stricken season. 

Salah topping the scoring charts, followed by Bobby and the Star of our second team Ryan Christie. 

Bobby topping the assists, then Alaba at left BBM and Shaqiri who played IF in the second team. 

 

Now time for averages 😊 I went back into every match and counted up all the shots, shots on target, clear cut chances and possession, so here we go. 

• We averaged 13.4 Shots a games VS opponents 2.5
• We averaged 6.6 Shots on target a game VS opponents 1
• We averaged 2.2 Clear cut chances a games VS opponents 0.3
• We averaged 48.8% possession VS opponents 51.2%

So as you can see we dominated pretty much every game, conceding just 1 shot on target a game is testament to how this tactic plays, the opponent will largely be starved of chances. 

 

So that wraps up this test and a massive congrats to @Ashez and @FuddledFox the tactic you've created two years ago is still a master piece and I can't wait to try it on the new game come the 24th.

I’ve never actually read it, so will defo be having a read over it soon as the results explain themselves, 6 conceded is brilliant but 98 scored as well shows it works well both ways!

Yeah mate, it was so fun to use, I want to try it with a lesser team to see how it translates to lesser players but something tells me it will still perform well, Christie was phenomenal and he's barely any greens

That would be interesting because back in FMM18 and also FMM19 is was very effective with lesser teams so long as they had a few players who fit the positions even if they weren’t worldies.

I'm so happy to see this is still doing the business. This was by far the most fun I've had with FMM in years.

I used it (with a few minor tweaks) in pretty much all my FMM19 saves, which were generally all lower league.

It did really well, with really strong defense and super overpowered attack.

I like it!  Didn’t lose a league game after December 7th, definitely worth a try in FM21

@FuddledFoxand myself have briefly discussed the possibility of looking into it, hard to say if it's worth it without the game in hand

I've had a mess around on 2021 with this but with a few changes. I swapped both BBMs to RPs and Mane to the new wide role. The RPs worked a treat but Mane really struggled for much output. Results wise though it's still the business 

Lost to United in the last match I played.....They're always so OP!! The draw was a shit 0-0 verse Villa but I lost the front three and WBs for extended periods. 

All in all still scores for fun and the defence is solid.

That seems like a great output there. By the new wide role, do you mean the inverted winger?

As far as I can tell the inverted winger is much more of a creative role, clues in the name I think as in a winger who play more narrow. I think Mane is just much more suited to an IF role where he looks for goals.

Yeah, I tried it as originally he was a winger but I wondered if doing that would get more out of Robbo. It mentions giving space for the overlap etc.

Great to see its still performing, I havent tried it yet, but it's on my to do list, I'm absolutely loving the Roaming playmaker, ive not tried the inverted Winger at all yet though, still IF's for me.

The IWB's seem good so far also. They provide so much control.

someone else has tried to use the inverted winger in fmm21?, I've done some tests with both roles and I don't know which one I feel better with
